The Victoria Hotel is known as the most prestigious and expensive option in Chau Doc, but unfortunately, it falls short of its reputation. For the price you pay, the experience simply doesn’t deliver the value you’d expect from a high-end hotel in this region.
The rooms are quite small, and although they are clean and functional, the decor feels outdated and in need of a refresh. The hotel has a charming colonial style, but it now comes across as more old-school than timeless elegance. The overall ambiance would benefit from some modern refurbishing to align with its high price tag.
One major tip for future guests: make sure to book a room with a river view. The street-facing rooms are very noisy, especially in the morning, which can be a real downside for light sleepers. The riverside view is much more peaceful and offers a more authentic experience of the Mekong Delta.
While the location is convenient and within walking distance of the town center and local attractions, the breakfast is another disappointment. The selection is limited, and the quality is not up to the standard you would expect from a hotel at this price point.
Overall, the Victoria Hotel’s prime location and historical charm give it potential, but it feels like it’s resting too much on its reputation without delivering the quality to back up the high rates. For the price, there are better-value options in Chau Doc. It’s worth considering for the location and river views, but don’t expect a luxury experience.
