We recently spent one night in Stirling at the Victoria Square Hotel and it made for an outstanding first night on a road trip in Scotland. It's located in a beautiful residential neighborhood overlooking Victoria Square yet it's a short walk to all the Stirling sites. We were greeted by Margo, who gave us one of the warmest friendliest introductions to any hotel anywhere in the world. She kindly allowed us to check in early, escorted us to the room, and explained everything about the room, its amenities, and the property. We felt at home immediately and happy to have chosen this property.|We had a large room overlooking the square, including some easy chairs and table in the bay window, perfect for reading the next morning. The room is tastefully decorated, really well-maintained, and the owners have thought of everything -- coffee/tea/sherry/cookies in the room, a fan (although the neighborhood is so quiet that we could leave a window open at night and not hear a thing), nice robes, great TV, fluffy towels, and chilled water in the fridge. We ordered our breakfast entrees the evening before and enjoyed a lovely served breakfast (with some items on a buffet) in the pretty breakfast room. I wish all inns were like Victoria Square and we definitely wish we'd stayed another night.
