Victor's Residenz - Hotel Schloss Berg (Nennig, Saarland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set amid riverside vineyards near the intersection of Germany, France, and Luxembourg, Victor’s Residenz-Hotel Schloss Berg comprises two buildings — one modeled after a Roman villa and the other resembling a Renaissance-era castle. There’s an Italian restaurant, and another serving French-Japanese cuisine, plus a German-style beer garden, a wine bar named after Julius Caesar, and a spa inspired by ancient Roman baths. There’s a lot going on here, suffice it to say. But the mélange of cultural influences infuses the place with character one wouldn’t typically expect of a hotel that’s part of a chain, in this case, Victor’s, with more than a dozen locations across Germany." - Tablet Hotels

No 5-stars , No quiet rooms||Read all reviews on this hotel before you book here, the number of ‘sorry’ reactions that management has to give to all these reviews are numerous, we would never have booked if we read this beforehand.||For those who give this hotel higher scores , go once to a real 5-star hotel and judge again.|It’s not because some of your rooms are bigger and with the 5 star specs , that your entire hotel deserves 5 stars. |We stayed in a ‘supreme room’ , which turns out to be even smaller than the announced 26m2. And no coffee machine, even no terrace. You expect that in a 5-star available in all rooms, not to get it by paying extra or moving to a higher model.||But more important : you cannot sleep in these rooms , because of mobile airco engines in your room which make SO MUCH NOISE that you can’t sleep. Look at the pictures of the sound measurements with or without airco. Even if you switch off your own tool during the night (as suggested by management as the ‘solution’) the unit of the neighbour keeps you awake : constant blowing and every 5 minutes a trembling sound, whole night long. ||Solution of the management if you complain : ‘move to another room’. In the middle of the night ?? |Even that ‘suite’ has got that mobile airco ánd no terrace, see pictures with the red chairs.||‘Solution’ the day after ? |10% discount, yeah right, how more can you say I don’t care and will not solve it. They also claim they can’t install proper built-in equipment , but the picture demonstrates there’s enough space in the ceiling , but of course that costst a lot more than drilling 50 wholes in the wall and put 50 units.||Not amused, never again, think twice.||PS : the diner in Bacchus was correct, breakfast was good, but we wished the sleeping room we paid for would also be a ‘ruheraum’

Rooms are extremely dated and in desperate need of renovation. The pool and spa facilities are fine. The old balding waiter however, was horrendous and ruined the experience for us. We tried our best to speak either German or French and instead were felt to feel completely uncomfortable and ruined the entire stay. He said he didn’t speak any English but then spoke fluent English to the French couple next to us who also had a bizarre experience. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, if you do I recommend walking down into town and finding food where the waiters might treat you a little bit better.

Positives: - Hotel and room were clean - The bed sleeps good - Staff at the breakfast was really nice and helpful. Had a laugh with the chef. Lobby staff during daytime is also helpful. - View on the surroundings could be wonderful, but it depends on where you can sit - There’s a daily bulletin on weather and things to do, which is a nice gimmick - getting a ‘travel pack’ for the road when leaving Negatives: A couple of things we disliked, of which the (late) evening staff at the hotel lobby and lobby bar is most concerning. - (late) Evening staff: one night, when going to bed, we were ‘offered’ water for the room and although we said we still had the water that’s in the room when arriving, the bartender insisted on taking some with us. Afterwards, we saw it was billed for ‘only’ €9,00. Bummer, but okay, might be a language issue? Other night, I politely asked, another, bartender if there was a misunderstanding as I ordered a different beer than I got. Also said it was not an issue. He disagreed, then the lobby guy came and started to make a fuss when I, again calmly, suggested the English menu should be changed to avoid such misunderstanding. He started walking away and screaming ‘We have to change a lot around here’. Really weird and scaring - Facilities: maybe we were here just at the wrong time, but be careful when you travel and check what is open. During our stay only the lobby bar and restaurant Bacchus were open. The pool bar was closed, just as the other bar and restaurants. When sitting outside the pool area (only terrace where we could sit in the sun), the lobby bar is a bit of a walk. Furthermore, during our stay there was no food available between 6PM and 9PM other than going to restaurant Bacchus. Bacchus has really good food, but it is on the expensive side. So, if you want a light meal or just a snack, you don’t have any options during that window. Unfortunately for us, restaurants in town were also closed - Room: it was advertised on Booking with having a view. Our ‘view’ was on the parking lot. Would be better to make a distinction in advertising, e.g., different rooms, or don’t advertise with this usp. Bed was nice. Rest a bit outdated and weary. E.g., holes in the curtains, toilet sometimes issues with flushing. - View: the terrace at Bacchus has a really nice view. It was closed, but we were allowed to have one drink outside before dinner. There’s also a terrace outside the swimming pool, but you cannot see the surroundings. Caeser’s bar was closed. All in, there’s much more potential given the location and its surroundings Overall: we thought the hotel is a bit outdated. Could use some renovation works. But well, that’s a personal stance. Still, just not a 5-star experience in our point of view given the other issues. But again, it could have been a case of wrong place and wrong time.

Comfy hotel, lots of gold and red and brass. Special interior and not always latest chic, sometimes over the top and from the past century. Yet friendly staff, welcome dring and clean rooms. Mine was towards and basically just above the main entrance, expect noise at night when people stand/smoke outside and cars approach/leave. No airconditioning but at least a fan in the room ;-)

We had an absolutely stunning experience here! All personel was exceptionally friendly and helpful, the service was great, the food beautiful. The whole building, including pool, wellness and gym, were pristine and clean. Airconditioning for the “superior rooms” (little warm for my taste) would make it perfect! We will surely come back here. Auf Wiedersehen!

I had high expectations of this hotel and restaurant and so did my colleagues with whom I had planned a dinner. Let me start with the reception. The lady behind the desk was clearly new to the organization but that is not a problem. What was a pity was that her colleague did not help her so she had to ask questions all the time. I was also not shown the way to the elevator and further information about swimming pool, breakfast etc. was missing. |The room ("Classic") was spacious and indeed very classic. You would expect a sofa but there were two, antique dining room chairs, a matter of taste. |The dinner in Restaurant Bacchus was below the expected level. The service was not alert, forgot wine and water and was downright arrogant. There was only a set menu which was otherwise fine. The dishes were good without exception. |We wanted to have a beer beforehand, that was not possible... Only wine and water, very special... |Then beer was served at another table. When asked, the waiter insisted that he had told us this but all five guests confirmed that this was clearly not told before dinner. We accepted it but that made the five-star feeling disappear forever. |It was also noticeable that the waiter mainly had an eye for the apparently regular guests because they were greeted and hugged extensively while we had to wait for the refill of wine.|Compliments for the extensive breakfast but the breakfast chef was not very friendly either. It was not busy and then you expect a pro-active and hospitable service and chef in a five-star hotel. |I have slept and eaten in various five-star hotels both business and private, but this experience really belongs to the bottom of my ranking. I experienced this stay as stiff, uninterested and arrogant. |I will stay in this region more often in the future for a business overnight stay, but then I will definitely book a different location.

The staff was very welcoming and ready to help. As french guests, we always found a way to communicate efficiently, either through french or english. The swimming pool area wasn't too crowded and it allowed spending some nice afternoons. The snacks we ordered directly from the swimming pool were very good too and offered a very convenient service.

Reception very competent and friendly, offered a welcome drink from the bar, good non alcoholic alternative. We had a deluxe room, good in size and design. No coffe/tea machine. No air conditionning, so a little tricky to have room temperature you prefer . This could be a problem in summer. They then offer mobile AC equipment. Pool is on the small size but ok to swim in circles. Breakfast buffet was excellent, good value. Staff was excellent.||
