Vientiane’s most remarkable landmark. Built to commemorate Lao independence and victory against colonization. Large park with good facilities. You can also come up the monument with a tickey price of 60,000 LAK for foreigners. Good to stroll at night where the fountains are on and the monument fully lighted.

Nice structure and one that is frequently compared to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Is it as spectacular as that? No but I think a lot of that is down to the incredible amount of traffic going around it and the multitude of lanes hoing off in every direction. Nevertheless it’s a really size monument with a lovely ceiling and carvings. Definately a must see in Vientiane

Spectacular monument, fortunate enough to have visited its twin in Paris, this is by no means the little sibling. Despite certain areas being closed due to construction work and being unable to reach the very top, the small museum enclosed provided a wealth of information and the views over Vientiane were superb. Very busy around the structure, but inside was much quieter.

It's about Colonial past rooted in French occupation. 1900 to 1954. Arc de Triomphe of Paris is suggested. Well laid garden and colour play of fountains. It costs 30000 KIp to have a view from high up. The symmetrical town and green around the nearby Wat are enrapturing. In evening mellow light the Vientiene with it slanting rooftops of houses and the Golden Wat appears a pure Laotian cultural space! Some pictures and Buddha sculptures in stairs and on ceiling and façade give the building a more Laotian Buddhist feel. But the top portion near the stairs is without any protection and can cause accident if some one just falls. An iron grill could be installed.

An interesting claim up the 192 stairs! Keeps you in shape! Very interesting information in the hallways about the construction of the monument and as well about the history of the various tribes and cultures from Lao! It’s a must go if you have the time, as the view is excellent!

A great place to visit, take photos, etc. It has a pool where a very pleasant water show starts at 4 p.m. Nearby, there are shops selling water, coffee, and other items. To go up there they charge 30 kip. For a more panoramic view

It is a magnificent triumphal arch that lives up to its name, and you will be overwhelmed by its size. It seems to have been modeled after the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and looking up at the ceiling inside, you can see various Laotian-style motifs. It is about 50 meters tall, and the cityscape you can see from the top is superb. To climb to the upper floor, Laotians need to pay 5,000 LAK, and foreigners need to pay 30,000 LAK.

Being here feels like stepping back in time - and you get an amazing view of the city from the top - not a complicated climb up - it has 6 floors with 197 stairs A must see if you’re in Vientiane
