Google
I went right to the 80's section and checked out the movies,😂 This place has my seal of approval. So many choices and areas of interest. Still only $5 to rent a movie. Great area selections for Japan and Korea too. The store has a lot of nostalgic items.

Grant Dotson

Google
As a lover of all things cult classic, this place easily has the best selection of films guaranteed to blow your mind. It's overwhelming but the sections are labeled and everything is in order. Also movies for sale and some eclectic gifts. Find your next obsession here and support local business.

ISAAC

Google
Spoke to a worker in there and was greeted warmly. He was telling me all about their system of movie rentals. Very cool store with everything packed with cool movies. Staff is nice and place is great. 5 dollars a rental for 10 days in was told if I remember correctly.

Stephanie Girard

Google
In one of the magazines at our hotel, it stated this was a record store, so we were surprised that it is an independent video store ( Although it really is in the name). It was cool and set up well... just not what we were seeking. But if you're looking for independent movies, this is the place. Parking is on site, but LIMITED and TIGHT.

Margot Darling

Google
The best video rental establishment in the biz! I love that I can have the retro experience of renting a movie on Friday night and having the Blockbuster experience only better, because Videodrome is a small, local business in Poncey-Highland. Highly recommended!

Chris Zhang

Google
Incredibly cool movie rental store! I would highly recommend anyone go just to see all of their offerings. a stroll through history.

Elijah Hozey

Google
Lots of good stuff in here! And if you don't feel like making the drive to return a video, just look at the shelves of videos for sale! Blu-ray, DVD, and VHS, whoot!

D T

Google
Obsessed with this place. I was kind of confused about how it worked the first time, but the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful and now their system makes perfect sense and feels really efficient to me. They also have so many titles, and a lot of things I've previously struggled to find! I keep going back and renting more movies every time ❤️

Yelp
10/10/10/10/10/10 I have Netflix and I will purposefully rent movies from videodrome that I know are on Netflix because I want to support them. Yes they have a great selection of popular new movies, but they also have the extremely niche films- regardless if it's foreign, culty, old, etc- they have it. Matt and John are absolute legends when it comes to recommendations. I love videodrome. It is truly one of my and my husband's favorite spots in Atlanta. Don't miss out!!!
google avatar

Erica G.

Yelp
How can Videodrome be rated anything less than 5 stars when they're one of a kind! They're the best video rental place in all of Atlanta because- is there any other place to rent from? They have an extremely extensive collection of all different movies and shows from anywhere in the world (for the most part). This is such a cool shop to stop in and look around. They also sell posters and other little gifts for your movie loving friends. Anyway, we recently donated several DVDs and VHS tapes to them and you should too! They also take DVD, Blueray and VHS players if i'm remembering correctly. Why throw it in the garbage or donate it when it will probably get way more use with Videodrome!!
google avatar

Benjamin S.

Yelp
We had gone a couple times just to browse and decided to buy a DVD/Blu-Ray player just so we could rent from here. They have movies that have been on my watchlist for years but been unable to find. Also, all of the staff I've had the pleasure of interacting with have been wonderful.

Yelp
This is a must visit for everyone, from causal movie watchers to full on film bros. It's such a fun store to browse in for hours. And at $5/week to rent a movie, it's pretty reasonably priced too! I highly recommend visiting if you're a nostalgia junkie or someone who wants to relive the good old days of Blockbuster, but ~small business style~. The folks here are super nice as well. I came in to return a DVD and told them it didn't work. Turns out it was because it wasn't compatible with my DVD player, not because there was a problem with the DVD itself. Despite this, the guy still gave me a discount! This place rocks and I highly encourage everyone to support such a fantastic small business.

Yelp
Flawless experience. The rest of what I'm typing here is just to fill in the word requirement on Yelp but yeah incredible stuff here
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
Does Videodrome have the coolest staff in the world? Yes. But do they have the best film selection in the world? Also yes. Are they just the coolest video store in the world? Absolutely yes. There's very few businesses where I can't see any way for them to improve, but these folks are absolutely crushing it.
google avatar

Calvin P.

Yelp
Great selection of movies that you won't find on streaming services. As SS become more popular, obscure movies become less available. This place is sacred!
google avatar

Robin S.

Yelp
It the category of DVD rental joints - a dying breed - Videodrome is as good as it gets. - local and independent. I know most if not all DVD outlets probably are independent these days but Videodrome was independent when Blockbuster was everywhere. - huge selection - very eclectic selection. You'll see stuff you remember from your drug-addled youth as well as stuff you probably should have watched during your drug-addled youth but were too drug-addled to make it out your front door. - organized by director, genre, country, as well the usual sorting. Which actually can be challenging sometimes. - best vampire movie selection. This is key.
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and great selection of videos--plus an A+ safety response to Covid, with careful social distancing, frequent sanitizing, and a curbside pickup option.

Bella S.

Yelp
excellent selection. staff are great at helping you find things. the overall vibe is amazing. anyone from film nerds to casual watchers can find something here. you get to keep the DVD for a week for 5$ (except for new releases, those are just 3-4 days for 5$), every day after that one week is a dollar extra. it might be cheaper to rent online, but this is definitely worth it.
google avatar

S John M.

Yelp
I love that this place is still alive and kicking. It's a testament to home knowledgeable the staff is. They know their stuff.

Yelp
Oh, to be a dying breed in a digital world. Videodrome is holding strong. Same musty smell, familiar process of renting videos (some of you kids may never experience such joys), and tons of international selection across all genres. What I love about Videodrome is that it feels like a comic book shop filled with DVDs instead of magazines and books. The dudes that run the joint are film buffs and they carry some of the best films you simply cannot squeeze out of a DVD vending machine. Love their lengthy collection of Miyazaki films and large selection of Indie films. We checked out No Country For Old Men upon our recent visit. Membership is simple -- All you need is a credit card and ID. Just over $3 for a rental and you get it for 3 days. $1 every day it's late. Long live Videodrome. Don't ever change.

Yelp
An Atlanta staple of movie rental, outside the red-enveloped freeway of Netflix and their ilk. Videodrome has been around forever, and is located right in the heart of midtown. Their collection of independent and foreign film is impressive and replete. From midnite movie to documentary to splatter to the latest boxset of perverted Anime, you can always find something worth renting that no other venue has. Their selections are grouped into genre, and then under genre, often, by director (from Altman to Argento to Gilliam to Bunuel and on and on and on), so it's easy to shop by association. If you're looking to snatch up one of 40 copies of the newest vehicle produced so ladies can look at Jake Gyllenhaal, you're going to have to hurry, because they don't overstock the big sellers. It's first come first served Kool Keith style. But even when I've been there looking for something specific and found it missing, there's always been something else I had forgotten or didn't know about to fill its place. Atlanta's best video rental, hands down.
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
A very cool video rental store that stocks most mainstream new releases, but what sets this place apart are all the different titles they carry. Some examples include a lot of critically acclaimed independent films and Oscar-nominated foreign language films. They also have sections devoted to certain countries, including Hong Kong, Korea, Norway, and Poland. They carry a lot of Asian horror and 1960s Japanese biker girl gang movies. Very unique. A small card is inserted into a plastic holder pasted the cover of each DVD. In order to rent a movie, just remove its card and take it to the front desk and they'll give you the disc - just like checking out a book from the library in the old days (I'm not sure how you check out a book at the library these days since I haven't been in years). Rentals are $3.78 for the first three nights and $1 for each night thereafter. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Okay, who the hell else has "Day of the Beast" (from Spain) available at your command? Answer is, Videodrome. Sure Netflix can get you what you want, but one day you might be feeling like watching one movie, then the next day not so much. This is where Videodrome comes in. If you want a quick fix and you know Blockbuster is not carrying it, this is the place to go. They have a great selection of films- from your standard blockbusters, to foreign hits, to indie films, etc. I will give you a warning that might only apply to me.... I am terrible about returning movies. In fact, I am notorious around the ATL, with many stores, for taking DVD's back a year later. This store will call you at home, your celly, and your job to get their DVD back. And rightfully so. So rent responsibly. Don't be a jerk like me and return them a few months late.

Cotton C.

Yelp
This is a real treasure of Atlanta! I'm sad to say that I've been there less often because of Covid-19 but that doesn't mean I love it any less. They have just about everything you could imagine! And there's something so rewarding about renting a movie from a physical store! 5 stars!!!!
google avatar

Cindy T.

Yelp
This is definitely one of the coolest video stores ever. And this even in the age of Netflix! =P They have such a wide variety to choose from of hard to find, indies, Asian, anime, kung fu, foreign, horror, all sorts of stuff. And they even have the naughty section lolz. The prices are right, the location is near that cool highlands area and the employees are laid back and helpful.
google avatar

Yelp
Videodrome ups the cool quotient on this block. I remember first moving here, and it certainly sticks out in my mind as this little squat building with a huge graphic painted on the side. It's for hardcore movie-ophiles, wannabes, and people looking to impress a date with their hippe-than-thou (blockbuster) which is right up the street. You come here, of course, for the movies, but you can also come here for the possibility of the conversation you'll have with a fellow moviebuff as you're both in the "German Drama" section.
google avatar

Bobbin W.

Yelp
I enjoy tangible experiences. I miss the card catalog, flipping for "crustacean" as a keyword but stopping at "Croatia" along the way. Fondling card stock was an intimate adventure, not instant digital gratification. The same goes for movie rentals. Now that I've heavily used Netflix for more than 5 years, I miss traipsing into Blockbuster with my big sister and taking an hour to agree on a movie. Netflix's instant queue sucks, and I haven't felt like watching my snail mailed film (The Godfather) for the past month it's been sitting on my couch arm. Like music, I'll choose a movie based on my fleeting mood. Videodrome seems to be one of the last movie rental stores standing. It is dusty and snobby and quirky and everything else a Poncey-Highland shop should be. While scanning the French section for Ponette, a customer might discover Fat Girl, or a trip to the drama section might convince one to give To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday a chance. Yesterday I yearned for Coal Miner's Daughter, and Videodrome held it for me. If you don't want to go to Fist City, don't close Videodrome down.

Yelp
Best video store! I have somewhat of an addiction, I'm there waaay too often :). I found some movies I would have never checked out before; independent, foreign, etc... They have a GREAT selection. The staff is very nice and always has cool recommendations.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the raddest video store ever. Great selection, friendly & knowledgable staff. & they always are watching the most hilarious stuff on the screens in there.

Yelp
I come here maybe every 3 months the past 1.5 years? My bf loves this place - so he probably knows more, but from my view - it's awesome! They literally have every movie I feel like. If I'm wrong, sorry! When I do come here, I look for certain DVDs. I'm not a huge movie buff, but if you are - GO! Worth a visit. My bf is a movie guy so he frequents here more than me. The folks here are really nice and very helpful. I've never had a bad time here. It's also walkable distance from some bars/gas station and etc - so if it's a literally a 'pick up a movie after dinner/drinking hours + get {more} beer from the gas station' kind of night then yes, it will fit the bill. Date night material :) I just wish it had better parking - but there's street parking if you drive past it - be patient! So, eh, I can't knock off stars for that. I am also VERY happy Videodrome is still going well :D Always very glad to see I am able to somewhat relive my childhood times going to a shop like this.
google avatar

Isaiah D.

Yelp
Great movie selection, definitely a must for anyone who considers their self a film buff. I'll keep it short since everyone pretty much nailed it on the head. Great place to find movies you can't find anywhere else, when you can't wait for Netflix and you've gotta have it now. Ask the guys behind the counter for a sleeper film, They have a pretty good amount of knowledge on all those films I let slip through the cracks.
google avatar

Bailey J.

Yelp
Videodrome is incredibly pretentious. But that's actually a great thing when it comes to video stores. The staff is fairly knowledgeable and the selection is great for such a small store. They have mainstream new releases and obscure indies just the same. If you put a Videodrome sticker on your car, it's like instant street cred.
google avatar

Andrea T.

Yelp
One day it occurred to me that, somehow, I'd never seen the movie Feast of All Saints. When I found out it featured heavyweights like Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Forest Whitaker, Eartha Kitt and James Earl Jones...I just HAD to see it. So I went to work trying to track down a copy at the local library. I wasn't surprised that none of the branches had it; not only was the film 10+ years old but it was a made-for-TV movie too. Then I had a light bulb moment. Call Videodrome. Long story short, they didn't have it either. They offered to order it for me though. Then they called me a couple of days later to pick up the DVD. I was elated! Renting from Videodrome may not be the most tech-savvy option these days, but the level of customer service I experienced is not to be missed.
google avatar

Rebecca O.

Yelp
Videodrone is really the last of its kind. They have a diverse movie selection with foreign films, documentaries, independent movies, etc. I really like they that they have a section divided by directors. The staff is friendly too. They accidentally gave me the wrong disc of a TV show. When I went back, they gave me the new CD and extended its due date.
google avatar

Tara H.

Yelp
Ahhhhhhh~ screaming because I freakin LOVE Videodrome! It always reminds me of the movies. Where you go into the little indie video store and all of the employees are unique and knows everything about everything relating to MOVIES... Gooooooo VIDEODROME! ! ! You can absolutely find any movie here!
google avatar

Stosh K.

Yelp
Como se dice Awsome?! I live right around the corner and always run to this place. Especially when it's Monday and life is really boring and I decide to go on a marathon of some kind. Like rent all episodes of The Wire, or Indiana Jones, or any other collection that makes me feel the a real f-ckin' man! The employees are true film people who have seen it all and can recommend anything depending on what you feel like. "I'm feeling adventure... but with a touch of funny and some happy ending. What you ya think?" "Ummm.... I think you may need some Fargo, or maybe some Sexy Beast." Sold! It can be Croatian snuff films and these probably know something about it. Just like Kim's Video on St. Marks Pl in the East Village
google avatar

Coley W.

Yelp
Videodrome is the movie nerd's video store. If you want Adam Sandler, go to Blockbuster. But if you want every movie David Lynch has ever made, this is your place. For people who like cinema (not movies), people who want to support a local business, people who crave subtitles, Videodrome is a reliable resource. There's not much parking, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. And most of the customers ride their bikes anyway. This place is indie rock all the way.
google avatar

Rebecca O.

Yelp
RIDICULOUS Bookkeeping!!!! Just found a charge to my checking account for $20 from Videodrome. We haven't been there in ages, so I called them to find out what is going on. Apparently they are charging us a late fee... from ELEVEN MONTHS AGO. When I asked if they always take this long to process things, they said "we do it whenever someone gets around to it". As we don't go there very often (uh, hello, Netflix) I clearly remember paying this fee... but who saves a receipt from a video store for 11 months?!?! I was told I could call back in two days and talk to the manager... who might or might not be there between noon and 3. I think I'll stick with Netflix from now on... at least I can trust them with my credit card info.
google avatar

Lico W.

Yelp
I have a netflix account and I'm in Videodrome at least twice a week. Ever since I found this place I've been addicted to it. Not only is the selection out of this world but it's also catologued in a way that will lead you to what you want. You want Brittish or German films? Go to the Brittish or the German section. You want a Francis Ford Coppola flick? You can find it under Francis Ford Coppola. Japanime? You guessed it. Videodrome also has a great selection of music docs, music performance, and music video dvd's as well as a nice little selection of skate videos. That's the kind of stuff you don't always find on Netflix. If you'd never been there before the guys that work there might seem like pretentious, hipster, cineophiles who would judge you for renting "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" or "Wanted" but they're actually very helpful, patient, and non-judgemental. They're knowledgeable when it comes to movies but they're just as likely to be watching Jean Claude Van-Damme as they are Todd Solondz.
google avatar

Tim H.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic place for people who love movies. Largest selection of films imaginable, with practically every film that's available on DVD. Movies from every country and in every category, from obscure Chinese films to current popular films they have it all. There's a large section of independent films and a really nice section of animation and children/family movies. Very friendly and knowledgeable people work there and can often help you find the film you're looking for even if you can't remember the name of the movie. A very popular place for movie people visiting from L.A. and New York. If you love movies you need to be visiting this place!
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
Videodrome is, well....AWZUM! They carry a ton of rarities, foreign films, and cult classics in addition to all of your main-stream classics. I agree with other yelpers that the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I can't tell you how many times I've dreaded asking someone a question at Blockbuster only to get a not-so-friendly response. There are some downsides to Videodrome. I have had waaaay too many scratched DVD's from there. Nothing ruins your night more than when you plan to watch a movie, and you get 45 minutes into it, and it cuts out. ARGH! Also, late fees are not so fun. But these are the shortcomings of an indy store, so I don't mean to complain too much. And I forgot, sometimes their organization system is a bit tricky if you aren't a movie buff. Some of the better flicks are categorized by director and I'm lost there.
google avatar

Joshua G.

Yelp
Super cool. Found the DVD I needed really quick. I kept it way later than I was supposed to, but the guy changed my fee from $15 to $10 and was really nice. Cool little vibey spot
google avatar

Yelp
This little corner video store is one of the last of its breed. Take a long look and even take a picture to help tell your story of what it was like to actually drive out and physically pick up a video when you wanted something to watch on a Friday night. Upon entering, you'll quickly notice that this store is reminiscent of every single rental place you've ever visited. The obscure video playing on the little 12in TV, the wall of new arrivals, and the bored employee behind the desk chit chatting with a customer... ahh, it was heaven! This little joint really does have its appeal, from the amazing categories to the great selection of rarities, it has it all. From the entrance, the rows to your left are categorized by their country of origin, which is a great way to narrow down your search even if you're not searching for a particular film. This place helps you find a movie based on your mood! If searching by country does not achieve your approval, check out the room to the right where it's categorized by director! It's a videophile's dream! The most well respected directors have their own little section on the wall, which sent a great shiver down my spine when I first found it. The room around the corner may be that one room that most old video stores have in the back, but not exactly for the reason you might have assumed. It does have some categories that will leave a thought running. Some categories such as "gore erotica" and your typical "slasher" section had me imagining various scenes, though kind of had me intrigued! It's basically the section that your typical neighborhood HOA mother would love to ban. Kind of taboo really, and I believe I even saw "Cannibal Holocaust" sitting on the shelf when I was there, though my mind is foggy. Checking out was quite easy and they didn't even require me to fill out a long winded contract or form just to rent for a single night. They just needed one signature and we were good to go! The one gripe I have about Videodrome is its lack of bluray discs, and I wished they had a bigger selection. I will revisit very soon when I feel the need to watch something indie, cult, quirky, or obscure!
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Thank the Lord there is still a movie store. Red box sucks and Netflix and I got into a fight. So when I want to watch a movie on my 20 something inch old school television, this is where I go. They have a really great selection and not just mainstream films. This is a current video-rental store. Videodrome has DVDs and blu-ray - no worries they're not giving out VHS tapes, although that'd be fine for grandma 'cause yes, I still own a VHS player. My only complaint is the location, which is great because it's less than 2 miles from my house, but crossing north ave and highland is often tricky. Simple rule: look both ways.
google avatar

Stephen G.

Yelp
I used to come here about once a week when I first moved to Midtown. Unfortunately, I eventually fell victim to Netflix and stopped coming as often (typically only when I needed something weird like a David Lynch film) Then Scoutmob did an offer for a free rental and it's not like you can turn that down. We ended up renting two movies that night and I soon remembered why I used to love this place. These guys have EVERYTHING. Yeah, they have all the popular titles that came out last season that you were too lazy to see in the theater. But what's really exciting is the huge collection of classics, foreign, and directors they carry. There has only been one movie that I've asked for that they didn't have and they ended up getting it for me. If you're with a friend/date for movie night, there's something about actually driving to the store and browsing the racks that clicking a button on your TV just doesn't compare to. Plus, the guys behind the counter can always give you a recommendation if you can't decide on your own. Rarely do they ever disappoint. Truth be told, I still have my Netflix account, but I'm back to my old habits of stopping in here at least one a week, if not more.
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
Not too big not too small, but man what a selection. These guys have everything a movie buff wants. Highly Recommended

Yelp
Hands down one of the few remaining video rental businesses that I hope will survive the ages. Amazing selection of old and new movies. Knowledgeable staff and friendly service. This shop is why America rules. Independent and awesome. They're the reason i left my lazy netflix account. Lets make this world a better place and rent from this rad local establishment. PS. has movies and documentaries that netflix doesn't have
google avatar

Carissa K.

Yelp
This place is like a film museum but you can rent them. The staff are awesome curators too. I have loved (not just liked) every movie they have ever recommended to me. This is a first rate business. I wish I could give them more than five stars.
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
Such an awesome place. Gotta love the independent store supporting a wide variety of obscure, hard-to-find, independent films.
google avatar

Ben H.

Yelp
It's been pretty well covered, so I'll keep it short. Parking is definitely very limited. I like that they have stuff on foreign/bootleg DVDs that isn't released in the U.S. (like some crazy Takashi Miike movies, for example). While they do have lots of stuff that isn't available on Netflix/elsewhere, I have also found myself coming up empty here numerous times so it's not really a place that has everything. Still, they have a pretty great selection of foreign and genre films, which is why I come here. 4.5
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
Great movie selection, knowledgeable staff, and great location if you live in the 5 points area. I love old horror flicks from the 20's and they have them all! There are also great foreign films and they have popular new releases. If you haven't been here and you live the 'hood, you are missing out on an Atlanta gem. Also try Movies Worth Seeing if you're in the Emory neighborhood.
google avatar

Jaxxie B.

Yelp
Who killed Laura Palmer? Who the hell is Bob? And what exactly is that log lady talking about?? These were the things I needed to know, and thankfully, Videodrome actually carried Season Two of Twin Peaks on dusty, dingy VHS tapes so I could finally find out.
google avatar

Sam K.

Yelp
The last place to really hoist the Hollywood Video or Blockbuster flag. Love this place. In a world of Redbox, this place really comes in handy when you're looking for something obscure or simply something that isn't one of the trash 20-something Redbox movies readily available
google avatar

Liesl F.

Yelp
What a cool find! They have a giant selection of movies, and it takes me back to the days when renting a movie and staying in was an event. They have every movie you can imagine, and at a reasonable price.
google avatar

mee n.

Yelp
excellent selection. i like how sections are categorized (genre, country, by director, etc.). i don't get as overwhelmed with their selection because i can usually decide what I'm generally in the mood for (i.e. early lynch films, Thai films, horror movies from the 80's that have the scary VHS artwork that STILL gives you the creeps, etc.) and head straight to that section. the pricing n return policies are fair, and the staff is like that movie buff friend of yours (and they're probably nicer too.) my only beef with them is that they don't have beastmaster (NO. CONAN AND RED SONYA ARE NOT ADEQUATE SUBSTITUTIONS. YOU CAN TELL BECAUSE I AM WRITING IN ALL CAPS.)
google avatar

Han L.

Yelp
I am seriously impressed by Videodrome's selection. Aside from a handful of mainstream hits, they have a wide selection of international films from all over, a shite-load of indie movies, and really esoteric genres, like Japanese biker chick movies. I was really surprised by their Asian movie selections. WHAa?! How??...I mean, ...whaaa!? I have always gone to Asian video stores for my dose to Asian movies, but I was really amazed to find some of the movies for rent there. So, kudos, Videodrome for your acknowledgement/ recognition of films from everywhere. And thank you, for being our liason to such unique movies.
google avatar

Layne B.

Yelp
They have great cult movies here. I also come here for hard to find foreign films. They need to work on their late fees. Those are kind of outdated in this day and age of Netflix. This is one of those places I spend money at every once in a while just to support the local scene here in Atl.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has got tons of movies I've thought were destined to remain in film buff obscurity forever. Granted, I'm not a resident expert of the bloody sex fetish driven Japanese genre that they've got stocked, but you never really expect to see some of the movies they've got for rental outside of specialty online stores where you've got a guy making VHS copies off the original TV airing 20 years ago. I suppose that makes this a specialty film store, who'd a thunk.
