Vidyarthi Bhavan in Bangalore is one of the most iconic and famous places for dosa, and it truly lives up to its reputation in terms of popularity. The first thing to know before visiting is that it is always extremely crowded. You must first take a token, and even after that, the waiting time can easily be more than 30 to 40 minutes, especially during peak hours.
Coming to the food, the dosa was good and definitely worth the price. The masala dosa stood out more compared to the sagu masala dosa, with better flavor and overall satisfaction. I also tried the vada and kesari bath. The vada was decent and is served with sweet sambar, which is slightly different from the usual style. Kesari bath was tasty and well prepared. Tea, however, was quite normal and nothing special.
While the food is enjoyable, the hype around Vidyarthi Bhavan is very large, and expectations tend to go really high because of its fame. One thing I truly liked is how they have maintained the hotel in a very authentic way, preserving the old-time charm and traditional feel.
The place is always crowded, and there is no proper parking space, which can be inconvenient. Overall, it’s a good experience at least once for the food and nostalgia.
