Vieja Cuba

Very friendly staff and cute hotel. We traveled in February and it was cold and rainy every day. The hotel room was very cold, and without a bathroom fan it remained moist the whole time. Exceptional WiFi everywhere. For the price, very reasonable stay, but don’t expect a luxurious experience.

This is a very cozy and clean place to stay. It’s also a good looking property that’s well maintained and centrally located. Full disclosure, I stayed one night when all of Quito seemed to head for the hills for the holiday, so the city was incredibly peaceful.

This beautiful house has been refurbished faultlessly into a precious, comfortable and cozy accommodation that welcomes travelers with the warm of Quiteños. I came for work and everytime I finished my day I was the happiest getting back to Vieja Cuba. Breakfasts were also imppecable. Do not doubt about giving the care of your sleep to Vieja Cuba while in Quito.

We stayed at this hotel twice during our trip to Ecuador. The hotel is located in Colon, which seems to be a very safe area. Foch Square, a popular spot with numerous restaurants and bars, is only a 10-minute walk away. Additionally, there are several dining options in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. While the hotel provides a standard breakfast, it does not have its own restaurant. Complimentary coffee and tea are available 24/7, as is typical. The hotel features a colonial-style and the rooms are pleasant, yet modest. It is not surprising that they are not particularly roomy. On our second stay, we were four travellers sharing a larger room. While the accommodations were accurately described, we found ourselves considering the option of chipping in for an additional room towards the end of our stay. To our surprise, Vieja Cuba provided us with a complimentary room (speaking about going the extra mile for your guests). The hospitality was excellent! The staff was friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this place!

This is an excellent place to stay if you want to experience Equador. There are international hotels around the block, but they are like any hotel in any major city. The rooms are clean and quaint, there are lots of public seating areas in the hall and lobby. The breakfast is excellent too. The hotel is secure and I feel safe walking to nearby restaurants. The only thing that could use improvement is the hot water. I ranges between scalding hot and room temperature (which is cold for a shower). I will stay here again and would recommend it.

Visited here in November 2023. Convenient location, helpful and friendly staff. Plenty of restaurants nearby. A fantastic museum just 3 mins from hotel. And several great bars. Great place to either start or end your Ecuador trip!

We stayed three times during our recent visit to Ecuador and it was the perfect ‘base camp’ between our trips into the Amazon to stay at Napo Eco Lodge and our visit to Galapagos islands. You can walk to nearby resturants. The bedrooms are comfortable and are all different. The breakfast is included and always tasty. Hotel also looked after surplus luggage between trips and Staff were always friendly and helpful. Great place to stay.

Absolutely lovely place to stay. The room was clean and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The hotel itself is a really cool building in a really conveniently located place near Plaza Foch. The staff were lovely and helpful and the breakfast was nice and fresh. Highly recommended for your Quito stay!
