39 Places That Will Warp Your Perspective of Time

"The Viennese Clock Museum is housed in the Harfenhaus (Harpist’s House), one of the oldest homes in Vienna. With around 1,000 clocks in the “Uhrenmuseum,” there is much to see. Of particular note is the 230-year-old astronomical clock, constructed by an Augustinian friar. Built in 1679, and calibrated up to the year 9999, it is a gorgeous piece of engineering. With layers upon layers of golden gears, and over 30 readings and dials, it is stunning. Each hand takes 20,000 years to revolve.  It’s all arranged in chronological order, from ornate pocket watches, to a 15th-century tower clock, to sundials, to rare Japanese pillar clocks, to grandfather clocks, to Black Forest cuckoo clocks, to a huge clock organ (unfortunately not working at the time of this writing). Update October 2017: The astronomical clock is not on display." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

It's a beautiful museum with all kinds of clocks, including impressive antiques. It will take you just over an hour to visit. The facilities are impeccable. I highly recommend it.

Time travel in the heart of Vienna! Clock Museum, 3 floors of true art. Many clocks are still working hundreds of years after they were made. Entrance fee is 8 euros. Interesting and informative

Free entrance on the first Sunday of the month. A great Museum to go through the history of the art of clock making. Fascinating clocks that you can spend a couple of hours going through the engineering of them

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Set over 3 floors, there are an incredible number of old clocks and watches. Some of the pieces have a QR code to scan, so you can see them in action. I can believe they don't want all of the chimes going off on the hour! Displays are well thought out. Got a discount using the Vienna City Card. There are lockers for bags. Toilets on every floor. It was VERY warm in there though.

Stumbled across this place by accident; and what a wonderful afternoon. Learning about all the clocks from bygone eras and also to see what the clocks are actually made up in the clock towers. Well worth the entrance fee. The lovely gentlemen working here had lots of facts to tell and gave great information on the clocks. Was a bag drop to safely lock bags away whilst visiting the museum. I’d go back for sure.

A quaint little museum located a few hundred feet from st Stephen’s cathedral in 3 floors which one has to climb using old design spiral staircase. Visit to the museum is Free Entry on 1st Sunday of every month. Good collection of clocks, pocket watches & watches beginning 17th century which was about 5 feet tall progressing upto current times. Worth a visit . It should take about 1 hour time. There’s washroom on every floor and a locker on ground floor.

Loved this place. We were fascinated by the collection of mechanical clocks and other timepieces here from the 16c to the 20c. You must give yourself time to read the descriptions and details of the exhibits. It's absolutely fabulous. There are free lockers, with a €1 deposit, for your bags, and a tiny gift shop. Admission is inexpensive. Well worth a visit.
