We stayed at Vienna House by Wyndham Andel’s Łódź on the night of December 31st to January 1st, 2026, as we were attending a New Year’s Eve party next door at Manuarte.
For guests of the New Year’s Eve event, the hotel offered a promotional rate of 600 PLN per night. Unfortunately, due to an oversight, I had booked earlier via Booking.com and paid 1050 PLN, meaning 450 PLN more than the promotional price.
Yes — that was my mistake.
However, what I expected was at least a minimal level of understanding, not a polite but firm demonstration that the rulebook matters more than the guest.
I did not ask for a refund (the booking was non-refundable). Instead, I simply asked whether, as a form of compensation, the hotel could offer:
• a late check-out (around 7:00 PM), and
• a complimentary lunch.
Both the front desk staff and the manager refused — smiling while doing so.
As a “gesture of goodwill,” I was offered a 2:00 PM check-out, which is in fact standard on January 1st, when new arrivals are rare and most guests obviously need to recover after New Year’s Eve.
The real cherry on top came later: I was additionally charged 70 PLN for parking.
Even after paying over 70% more than the promotional rate, the hotel was unable to waive a basic parking fee.
I have stayed in many hotels, both in Poland and abroad, and I have never encountered such a complete lack of empathy and flexibility toward a guest.
This is how this hotel chose to “welcome us into the New Year.”
If you are looking for a place where:
• regulations are more important than common sense,
• guest loyalty means nothing, and
• basic courtesy is non-existent,
this hotel may be a good fit.
For me — never again, and definitely not recommended.
