The first few weeks of a restaurant opening are going to be chaotic, but that didn't stop this one from making an all-in-all pretty good first impression. The vegetarian food here--if you're looking beyond a baked potato and a salad--is the best in Hannover. There, I said it. It made up for waiting an additional twenty minutes standing near the front door even though a friend had reserved a table a week ahead already. It even made up for the restaurant cramming our party of five at a tiny table for four with the fifth person having to sit very uncomfortably when the restaurant didn't have the balls to dismiss the two Asian girls at the adjacent table we needed who wouldn't leave even after they'd finished their food and paid for over an hour.
The food and drinks that eventually arrived came in a very timely manner, everything was super fresh and perfectly cooked as well as attractively arranged, and we were all very happy with our meals and the service. I ordered the Dragon Bowl and there were plenty of perfectly cooked shrimps but a measly amount of rice noodles. That being said, the snap peas were perfectly pan seared on one side, the veggies were julienned to reasonable sizes, and the sauce was well seasoned. The prices are kind of steep for this restaurant with the amount of food you get, so be forewarned that the average German will not be full with just a main dish. I ordered the Buddha Rolls to supplement my meal and they were very good with seitan and a fragrant peanut dipping sauce. I tried my friend's Pagoda Schale seitan rolls and they were outstanding and tasted like the delicious food you can get at Buddhist temples in Los Angeles. My husband's Tuna It On was just too salty for my taste though, and my least favorite dish of the night along with the Sweet Sticks, which turned out to be very overpriced sweet potato fries--no, there is nothing special at all about these 10 average sized thin sticks of sweet potato that they tried to arrange into a sad little pile to be worthy of its €3.90 price tag. Beverages also average around €5 a pop.
All in all, the prices are high for what you get and there are a few kinks to work out, but the quality of what you get makes up for it a little. I would go back to try the rest of the menu just because there is still so much good to be had at this trendy new joint.
