"Tongue-Tingling Vietnamese Don't judge a restaurant by its facade. Located in a gritty area of Bellavista (start of Patronato, garment district), Vietnam Discovery looks more like a takeout joint than a restaurant. Enter inside to another world. The restaurant opens up with a large Buddha statue and a fashionable crowd. This project was the answer to many Santiaguinos' prayers for bona fide Vietnamese (and southeast Asian) cuisine. Nearly everything we've tried on the menu has been delicious; we always start with their crunchy spring rolls with herbs. Reservations essential. Loreto 324, Bellavista Phone: 56 (2) 2737 2037"

The location is not great. It’s located in a dangerous place so be careful (mostly if you go at night). I like eating pho a lot. The pho soup here is a 1/5 max. It doesn’t taste much, it’s small and its priced like a luxury item because it seems there is not a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in Santiago. I also got a spring roll (it’s regular size) and it cost 4000 Chilean pesos or more then 5$ US which makes it the most expensive spring roll I’ve had. But it was dry and not good even the salad leaf to decorate my plate was dirty. This seems like a place for Chilean people to get a taste of Vietnamese food but I would not recommend it to anyone that has already ate good pho or any good Vietnamese food. I’m disappointed because the reviews were telling otherwise.

I think the high ratings are exaggerated. First off, it’s in a very unsafe part of Bellavista so I would not recommend walking alone after dark. Second, there are a lot of unpleasant red and green lights that give the place a weird creepy feel. The service on the other hand was great and very welcoming. The food was good - the meat dishes far surpass the veggie ones so I’d only recommend this to meat lovers. Overall, I’m glad I tried it but would not return.

Best recommended for lovers if sea food. In my humble opinion a slightly overpriced restaurant and not the best Vietnamese in town. I might go again since I'm still curious about some of the dishes but they better be exceptional and so far it's never been better than average.

Very good and authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

Overpriced, food is not good and doesn't even have Asian spoons for soups. Pho is sad, pretty much made out of a frozen veggies package. The vibe of the place is great tho.

Service was polite, but borderline slow. Still was well in the level of acceptable, especially since it was a busy Friday night. My girlfriend had a lamb dish with yellow curry and peanuts, and it was really good. I have eaten at numerous Vietnamese restaraunts, both nice, full menu restaraunts, to the tiny, specialty item "fast" food restaurants. This place was small, but I would catagorize it as a nice restaraunt, but in a not so nice neighborhood, and it was my very first Vietnamese restaraunt in Chile. So, I had to try a stable dish of Vietnam first, so that had to be the Pho. which is the soup with noodles, been sprouts, and thinly sliced beef, in a star anice spice based broth. It was pretty good, and I enjoyed it well. For more authenticity, they even had hoisin sauce and saracha sauce as well. I am not sure if they knew you were supposed to have that with this dish or not, as I asked them specifically for it when ordering the Pho, but at least they had it. They also served it with the fresh bean sprouts and a wedge of lime. The only things missing was fresh sprigs of Basil, and some slices of jalapeno peppers. I will go back and try another classic dish like Bun.

Nice food and drinks. Prices are a bit steep for the location, but worth to try. Helpful service, with nice recommendations and suggestions. Will go again!

Google
Stil very tasty vietnamese cuisine, but somehow the place has lost its magic. Hidden in the backyard of an unseemingly tiny fastfood facade, the nice space behind it would surprise me yesteryear. Now It's got very popular which isn't bad at all, but instead of managing it with reservation policy, dress codes or pricing policy, they have overcrowded the place with literally no space between the tables. If you don't mind having vietnamese delicatessen in a kermese-like crowded fairground, it might still work for you.

Yelp
Wow! The store front doesn't look like much but once you step inside and walk through the hallway lined with Buddhas ... You are instantly transported to south east Asia in Vietnam. It truly is an oasis in the the bustle of Santiago. The food is simply amazing. This restaurant combines the taste of Vietnam, fresh ingredients from Chile, and the food discipline of France. The heart and soul of the restaurant comes from its three founders: a Vietnamese woman, a French man, and of course a Chilean. All of the food is great. I came hear with three of my friends and we each shared and sampled each of our foods and appetizers. I won't even recommend what food to order bc the waiters will help you do that. And anything you order will be delicious. I do recommend you order one of their special cocktails though!

Yelp
Overrated but still good food. Don't come here thinking you're going to get some authentic Vietnamese pho. If you're hungover or just have a craving for it, head somewhere else now! Their other dishes and drinks are pretty good. Don't judge a book by it's cover, it's surprisingly nice inside.

Yelp
I had a very good experience dining at this restaurant. It looks like one of those hidden bars or restaurants in New York where you can't tell what's inside. But once you go in you will love the place as it is a mix of oriental and trendy. Their specialty cocktails are amazing. I can't recall what was the name of my drink but it had pisco, cucumber and lime in it. It was delicious. Their most famous appetizer was very cool concept, however it wasn't fresh enough. Their main dishes are really good though. I was also expecting to find Banh Mi, but they do not have them. If you are looking to experience Vietnamese food in Santiago, I definitely recommend going.

Yelp
In the up-and-coming barrio Recoleta, is a hidden Vietnamese treasure: Vietnam Discovery. With their amazing decoration and full-flavored food, Vietnam Discovery is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. When you first walk in you have no idea just how beautiful this restaurant is, but once you follow your waiter to the back, you are met with a large, bright space filled with South Asia charm. They serve tasty dishes and amazing, tropical cocktails. The last time I was here I ordered a bottle of champagne and it was definitely the perfect combination with our meal. Vietnam Discovery is the perfect setting for either a romantic date, lunch with colleagues or a family dinner (it's ambiance is really the best part of the Viatnam Discovery experience). I recommend their spring rolls if you are a meat eater and their nem de vegetales for the vegetarians out there. I would actually just order multiple nem de vegetales but I guess that isn't always acceptable, so I recommend the Hu tiêu chai - rice noodles with veggies; simple yet full of flavor! Tip: This place is very busy during the weekend and nights so call and make a reservation ahead of time ***ask to sit in the terraza***. If you can't get a table you can always pickup to-go but like I said earlier, the real reason to come is for the ambiance (and cocktails).

Yelp
Vietnam Discovery doesn't look so much from the outside but when you pass the door you find a very nice and superb interior and good decoration. The attention from the waiters is very good when the owner Thomas is there, giving you advice on food and not being too much around you, just when needed. The menu has a good variety. Food is tasty and savory . Not huge plates but good and nicely presented. Prices are not very cheap but the normal range for that kind of restaurant in Santiago.
