A Guide to Orange County's Little Saigon: What to See, Eat, and Do - AFAR

"A reflective monument featuring statues of a South Vietnamese and an American soldier, accompanied by South Vietnam’s striped flag and the U.S. flag and an eternal flame to honor those lost; the memorial sits within a park that also has a nearby playground for families." - Cu Fleshman

I have visited the Vietnam War Memorial at Freedom Park in Westminster, a place that embodies healing and reverence. My experience there was deeply moving, especially after attending the performance of MISS SAIGON at the Rose Center Theatre, presented by the Vietnamese American Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra to celebrate its 30th anniversary in Spring 2025. As I left the theatre, the haunting emotions stirred by the powerful performances lingered in my heart. Walking through the War Memorial, I was reminded that it has been 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War. I gazed at the statue once more through my car windshield before departing, filled with a heavy heart. I found myself praying for the souls of those who fought and sacrificed their lives in the conflict. I hope they have found peace, and I want to acknowledge that, as Vietnamese, we will never forget the soldiers lost to the war, regardless of which side they were on. Their memory lives on in our hearts. ❤️

This was a small yet intimate Vietnam War memorial. It was well-maintained in a quiet peaceful park. I found it very inspirational and thought-provoking.

🏃‍♀️All the times I've been to west court and never stopped at this Vietnam War Memorial . The big goblet or cauldron with the natural gas flame is pretty cool.. if u ever need a light really bad you know where to go!! Lol. Nice little playground and stairs going into building next door are great for cardio. 💪

This monument is gorgeous. The people of the city need to clean it up there though and deal with the homeless making cardboard box homes out of the small playground that is supposed to be for kids. Its absolutely disgusting and black from all the caked dirt all over the playground… It’s a disgrace to our veterans memorial and our city. We’ve gotta do better. It’s no longer safe there for kids.

An excellent location that commemorates the sacrifices of Americans and South Vietnamese. There's a ceremony at 11:00 a.m. the first Sunday of every month. The city of Westminster just held a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon, Black April. I have lived in "Little Saigon" for 39 years
