Guides usually demonstrate the gap by sliding a cloth underneath—definitely a highlight for first-time visitors. The temple complex is large, clean, and very well maintained. Almost every pillar and wall is covered with beautiful carvings depicting gods, dancers, floral designs, and scenes from mythology. The open mandapa, huge Naga Linga, and richly painted ceiling add even more charm. Photography lovers will find endless spots to capture. It’s a short walk from the Nandi statue, so both can be covered easily in one trip. There’s ample parking outside, and small shops nearby for water and snacks. Best time to visit is early morning or evening to avoid the heat. If you appreciate history, architecture, or simply want a peaceful day trip near Andhra–Karnataka border, Veerabhadra Temple is absolutely worth it. Veerabhadra Swamy Temple, also known as Lepakshi Temple, is located in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh, approximately 125 km from Bangalore. During the journey, you can experience a variety of terrains along the way. We started early in the morning at 6:00 AM on January 17, and it was extremely cold—our hands felt numb until around 7:00 AM. So, if you are planning an early-morning ride, it’s advisable to carry hand gloves. Once you reach Lepakshi, you will find the Jatayu Theme Park and Lepakshi Temple located close to each other. The temple is beautiful, and many visitors are curious to see the famous hanging pillar. Anna Prasanna (free lunch) is also served in the afternoon. If you plan your visit accordingly, try to be there by afternoon so you don’t miss it. After visiting the temple, we went to Vatadahosahalli Lake. If the weather is pleasant, the experience is wonderful; however, if it’s sunny, it can feel a bit uncomfortable. Be prepared for this and carry an umbrella if needed. Nearby, there is a large Nandi statue—though it’s a small spot, you can spend about 10–15 minutes there.

Excellent temple with different sculptures and with rich history. Hanging Pillar, Siva Linga surrounded by 7 Head Naga, Anjaneya Paadam, Big Ganapathy vigraham and many other. Temple main deity is Veerabhadra Swamy along with Siva, Parvathi, Bhadrakali, Raghunatha Swamy and Ganapathi. The Big Nandi statue is another excellent attraction.

A must-visit historical marvel! Lepakshi Veerabhadra Temple is truly an architectural masterpiece. The only thing that could be improved is the cleanliness around the village area and the presence of people begging near the parking and temple entrance. It would be great if local authorities took some steps to maintain the surroundings better. Overall, it’s an amazing experience — a perfect place for those who love history, art, and spirituality.

Lepakshi Temple is awesome Veerabhadra Swamy at Lepakshi Temple is divine, the idol looks powerful and full of spiritual energy. It is a sacred place that leaves a lasting impression on the heart. The detailed stone carvings and ancient architecture are mesmerizing. The hanging pillar and massive Linga statue are incredible to see. It’s a must-visit place for history and culture lovers.

The AP government and temple association must work towards maintaining hygiene in the temple premises. Unfortunately, the urinal smell inside the temple corners was very unpleasant, and dog stools were found around the premises. A place of devotion should be kept clean, as it is deeply connected to devotees and their spiritual experience. The way temples in Karnataka are maintained could serve as a good example to learn from. I started from Bangalore at 10:00 AM and reached by 1:00 PM, including a one‑hour break halfway for breakfast in Vishnu. My expenditures were ₹2,200 for fuel, ₹80 for parking, ₹50 for entry (for 5 people), about ₹500 for miscellaneous and ₹4000 for brunch expenses. There were no good food options for families either on the way or at the temple premises, so we had to delay our lunch until returning to Bangalore. Overall, while the temple is spiritually significant, better cleanliness and facilities would greatly improve the experience for devotees and visitors.

Went on a Sunday evening with family. It was a nice experience. Felt so peaceful. We saw the famous hanging pillar, Nandi statues and nagas statues. Spent quite amount of time exploring the whole temple. The lawn outside the temple was also nice to hangout for a while. Paid parking available.

Recently visited Lepakshi Temple and it’s a really nice place with rich history and beautiful stone carvings. The temple architecture is amazing, especially the hanging pillar and sculptures. The surroundings are calm and peaceful, making it perfect for a relaxing visit. Overall, it’s a great spot and best for a one-day outing with family or friends. Highly recommended
