Not recommended! At first the place looks cute and cozy. But it’s a terribly loud place. You hear everything your neighbors are doing, everything! Plus there’s a loud restaurant directly under the thin wooden floors, so be aware of this. And the cherry on top: our room was next to the guest toilet… The management is super unprofessional, mansplaining that we should have come informed about it. He claims he had never heard this complaint about noise before… just scroll down in the negative comment here and you’ll find examples. So absolutely not recommended.

Just ate there while staying in Eidfjord and the food was just excellent! Also very nice combo to sell the leftovers of the day from the bakery next door !

Very good pastries here. The cinnamon roll was as good as can be.

Cute little pension with beautiful location and view, free parking and free breakfast in the nearby hotel. The kitchen is relatively small, but you still can cook something, the bakery downstairs was also very nice. We enjoyed our stay very much!

We stayed 1 night in July 2024 and had an apartment room that faced the street (1 bedroom had a small balcony. The apartment had 2 bedrooms and small kitchen and bathroom.|Cons:||-very warm and no fans to cool off|-the birds (seagulls) were very noisy - they stopped about midnight and started up about 4 am :(|-The shower drain drained very slow, and the lighting in the bathroom was very dim|-Only 1 key for the room||Pros:|-the restaurant has great food and great bakery|-the town of Eidfjord is nice and we walked around and saw a public beach with public sauna||Also, the breakfast (not on site, but up the hill at the Eidfjord Hotel) was just okay. I think they may have been having supply problems, but there was no natural yogurt (only sweetened yogurt). No oat milk for coffee either. The eggs had bacon mixed in them (not good for vegetarians)||I would consider staying at one of the other locations (if I were to go to Eidfjord again) because of the noise and heat in the bedroom.

A very good, affordable restaurant that's also really good with local produce. The restaurant is well located in the centre of Eidfjord. What's more, the croissants and pastries are really delicious. We stayed in a family room which is spacious, well appointed and has a lovely view from its small balcony.

Highly recommend staying here. Our cabin is right on the river and the sound of the rushing water is so relaxing. The cabin can sleep 6 but we were only 3 and very comfortable. The people at Vik are so amazingly nice and make you feel so welcome. And huge bonus is the food at the Vik Cafe and their bakery-- OMG it is incredible. Even if you don't start here you have to eat at the cafe when in Eidfjord. As if staying at Vik you need to do a walk to the beach and iron age remains right across the river -- beautiful and relaxing.

Yelp
What a lovely place to have lunch! We enjoyed the chicken salad and fish soup, and their bread is delicious! Make sure to try to connected bakery!

Yelp
There are no words to describe how good their pastries are. I ordered their chocolate croissant, raspberry vanilla cream donut, ham and cheese sandwich and their apple pastry. It's all heavenly, I want to go back to Eidfjord just for these pastries.

Yelp
truly a hidden gem. we came here because it was one of the only restaurants open in town on the day we arrived. Could not have made a better choice. we had specials- chanterelle risotto with beef cheek and mountain trout. You cannot leave without sampling their pastries- we had a traditional Norwegian cake with whipped cream, and a homemade brownie with local chocolate. We even took some various pastries home for the next morning's breakfast! this was a totally unexpected delight and absolutely worth a stop if you're on your way through the fjords.

Yelp
This review is based on dining at Vik Pensjonat. I didn't stay in the hotel, and yet it's obvious this would be a lovely place to stay. I am VERY glad I came in here for a mid-day meal. Eidfjord is much more of a real, lived-in village than many tourist outposts at the tips of Norwegian fjords, and this locally owned hotel and restaurant really made me feel that. They take tremendous pride in preparing all their meals with local ingredients, to the extent that you can probably glance around the hills and see some of the farms where your food was raised (in the summertime, at least). My repast consisted of a generous portion of fresh cod with potatoes, vegetables, and a mild cream sauce. It was all so delicious and cooked so perfectly that it honestly made for the best restaurant experience I had during this two-week trip to Norway. I also had their homemade chocolate cake for dessert and it was, of course, just great. The service was super friendly, and the atmosphere was really cozy and comfortable. They also sell jars of their homemade honey, which I picked up to bring home as gifts. If you're in this beautiful part of the world and need a place to eat or sleep, I'm convinced you will find Vik Pensjonat og Hytter to be very satisfactory.

Yelp
We came off our cruise ship so we could not stay here. We came to eat lunch as recommended by a friend. Since the ship was it was very busy. We got a very nice table inside and went up to order. You get a table and note the table number. Then you go up to the bar and give the owner your order. We ordered drinks so we could enjoy while we waited for our order. It took a while to get but, it was delicious. They also have free wifi which you can enjoy while you have desert. We had a huge piece of Apple Cake. Hope someday we can come back here so we can stay as this is also a B & B.
