Viking Cruises | Amsterdam

What a sad and dangerous situation, experience and waste of $10,000. If you ever go on this cruise line make sure you do not become ill as they do not care and they will not help you. They tell you at orientation that they do not have a doctor on board but if you get sick come see them, we did (3) three times and they not only did not care hey gave incorrect information as to medical care availability at ports. I literally could not get out of bed one whole day and as we later believe that I had COVID and not sure how long but still had it when we returned and I was able to and tested positive for it. I sent a letter to Chairman and CEO of Viking, Mr. Torstein Hagen and expressed not only my concern for their lack of professionalism but complete disregard for the situation. I also told them I was not looking for anything, in fact I told them because of this experience my wife would never leave the US mainland again. All I was trying to accomplish, was to make them aware of their lack of availability for assistance in a medical situation like this. So obviously Torsten did not respond but he did have Sia Blumenberg form customer relations reach out. So besides the BLA BLA BAL of we will use this experience to train our personnel going further what do you think viking did, they sent us coupons for $350 off a future cruise and made sure we knew the coupon had to be used withing twelve months. This is not a cruise experience company this is in my opinion a marketing company that has no regard for its passenger’s safety, which by the way was exhibited when we first boarded. We literally had to go over the top of another ship and over cables and hoses on the top of our ship to check in. Very sad and if I could I would sue them for their lack of concern for my health and wellbeing, I literally could have died. And just a note for future travelers who think these cruise are going to be very scenic. You will be see allot more factories that you will castles on the Rhine!

Outstanding Cruise, looking forward to the next Cruise, Already Booked, the cabin rooms were immaculate the food just unbelievable. But the staff truly made our voyage amazing. Would give them a 10, but there’s only five stars. We toured from Basel Switzerland to the Netherlands in Amsterdam. This was a seven day cruise. Our next adventure is 15 days.

We just returned from our very first Viking River Cruise on the Rhine, traveling from Basel to Amsterdam, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. From beginning to end, Viking delivered a first-class experience with seamless, turn-key service that made everything effortless. The staff was warm, attentive, and professional, and every detail was handled with care. The ship itself was beautiful and comfortable, the excursions were well organized and enriching, and the views along the Rhine were breathtaking. As first-time river cruisers, Viking exceeded all of our expectations—we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to this style of travel. Highly recommended, and we’re already looking forward to planning our next Viking adventure!

Beautiful place, I brought my daughter here to enjoy a boat ride along the canals of Amsterdam. Unfortunately, we couldn’t go because cash payments were not accepted anywhere, and we specifically wanted to pay with cash. I really don’t understand the problem. The experience was spoiled and left us disappointed.

We joined the Viking Einar for a week in the Rhine over Christmas 2023. The Company and crew ensured it was a voyage to remember. Nothing was to much trouble, the Programme Director Emilie was a star, arranging an action packed itinary even when circumstances beyond the Company's control arose. The professionalism of the Captain, his crew and guides were second to none.

This is a great spot for starting a Rhine river cruise. They offer a quick city tour the day you board, so you can get a flavor of the city. Also, there is a small grocery store nearby in the train station in case you want to bring a few things on board.

Terrific location. After check-in, we walked into the city to spend the day prior to leaving at night. So close to it all!

Took a Viking Rhine River Getaway Cruise. Amazing! First time, and I would definitely recommend it. Viking delivers!
