This is a delightful, old school, Mom & Pop motel like your grandma and grandpa stayed in when they traveled. In those days, places like this were the norm and there were lots of them. With the advent of the big chains, these places are vanishing.
Not the Viking Arms, though. It is attractive, clean, and when you pull into the parking lot, you know you're in the right place! Old school? You bet - a large brass key for your room and not a plastic key card. There is a pool, whirlpool, a gazebo, and a grassy, park-like center of the J-shape property.
The room is a bit smallish (that's the way motels were built back in the day) but comfortable. There is a comfortable bathroom (I had a walk-in shower in my room) and a television. There are no appliances. I had a comfortable bed, and the night stand has a unique alarm clock that features a dimmer (I HATE bright alarm clocks at night!) two power outlets, and two USB ports. There is WiFi, you'll be given a password at check-in. During Covid-19, there is no breakfast bar but there is fresh coffee that is pretty good. A vending machine and ice maker were steps from my room.
The property is located on US10, not far from downtown and the dock of the SS Badger. I would gladly stay here again and I recommend it, especially if you are traveling in or out on the SS Badger.
Hats off to David & Dawn Bourgette, your hosts.
