Vila Adentro

We visited Villa Adentro in the Old Town, and it was a truly charming and historical restaurant. The atmosphere is very cozy and makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into the 15th century. We ordered several traditional dishes inspired by the local area, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. We had the Portuguese rib-eye steak, topped with eggs and served with sliced potatoes. The steak was cooked in the oven rather than on the grill, exactly as requested—very juicy, tender, and full of flavor. I ordered the fish with spinach, which was cooked perfectly. It was topped with spinach and served with boiled baby potatoes. This combination was new to me, but it worked beautifully and tasted excellent. We also tried the vegetable cataplana, a traditional Portuguese dish. Although I’m not vegetarian, I really loved the taste and flavors. Finally, I tried the octopus with fresh fruit. It was delicious, well cooked, very tender, and had no smell at all—just fresh and perfectly prepared. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with authentic food, great quality, and a unique historical atmosphere. Highly recommended.

An amazing restaurant with a unique history and story to reveal. We went there specially to eat their lobster and seafood cataplana. For that alone it was worth it. A huge portion of beautifully cooked cataplana with two lobsters in it, as well as a range of other shellfish and fish. The staff here are lovely and friendly and provide excellent service. In addition, we were given a short tour of the tunnels under the restaurant which date back to Roman times, and some details of their history. As this was late November and the place was quiet, I have to assume you might not get this at the height of the season, but it was a great bonus after a superb meal. I would highly recommend you try and cataplana here and then ask about the tunnels .

Enjoyed a lovely meal here, service was really good and our waitress super friendly, sorry I didn’t capture your name, but thank you! Owner/manager came and checked on us a few times too which was appreciated and showed attention to high level of service! We shared Tuna pate to start which was superb with fresh bread & the speciality sausage dish - very tasty. We then had the lobster and shrimp rice! Wow it’s a massive meal! Super tasty 🙏 thank you 🙏

I don't understand why this restaurant has such a relatively low rating. We were immediately attracted to this place by the fact that a lot of locals were coming in for lunch, and decided to give it a try. Just the vintage interior and traditional fittings themselves are astonishing. The service was swift, friendly and professional. We were also happy with their meal selection. The food was well prepared, enjoyable to behold and very tasty. Dessert offering is vast and equally good. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised by all aspects and can highly recommend this place.

Unlike other's reviews have indicated, there was only one vegan option - Eggplant with mushrooms. Sounded boring, but was actually excellent. Very cute place in Old Town.

Beautiful restaurant in a perfect location, right in the sun with also a beautiful interior. However the food was an abomination. We ordered the fig and goat cheese gratin which had no goat cheese in it. We also ordered 2 medium cooked Portuguese steak sirloin with bacon and potatoes, which was the skinniest piece of stake and overcooked. We therefore decided to send the steak back and ask for it more rare and it came back ever more cooked. We were unable to even cut the steak. We finally sent it back for the last time and got offered chicken instead of the steak which was good. Mediocre but good. On a better note the supreme de pinta dish which was very yummy. the sauce was nice and it was well cooked. Only the veggies (carrots and broccolis) were very plain. The Muscles were also good and enjoyable. The service was lovely, all the waitresses were super friendly. They were genuinely apologetic for the inconveniences and gross food and made sure to offer us anything else to eat. Overall, food is overpriced and not good. But at least the service is friendly.

We jyst had coffee and pastries.. delicious! Staff and Atmosphere (including excellent jazz music) were perfect.. the decor and ambiance are worth a detour! Such nice guys serving.. all 3 of them.. I shall be back.

This restuarant was lovely. Gorgeous location in the centre of the old town. Food was reasonably priced and fresh fish was delicious. Everyone was very friendly.

This was a great restaurant we stumbled upon when exploring Old Town Faro. The salmon and pomegranate salad was the perfect dish for a lighter lunch - though still quite filling as they give you a decent amount of salmon. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the ambiance of being surrounded by the architecture, cobblestones, and even had someone stop by the play the guitar. The service was a bit slow but that has been our experience at most restaurants here so I didn't take down any stars for that. It seems to be connected to staff shortage.

Please, save your money and more importantly your time and temper! We are super easy going people. We went to lunch on Sept 9, 2024. We waited no less than 25 minutes to be acknowledged and brought menus. The older gentleman was exasperated, perhaps the owner, and the only one taking orders on an outdoor patio. We waited another 15 minutes for them to come back and take our drink and food menu choices. 15 minutes later, everything came. We are mostly mad at ourselves for not leaving. It took 15 minutes to get the bill. When we were there another table of 4, I believe they were French, left because they too were ignored.!!! It nearly ruined our day. There are SO MANY GREAT restaurants and the hospitality is like no other. If I could give it zero stars I would!

Came for snacks before dinner was open. Only downfall is bit pricy and sounds of planes. The square is very nice and quite. Service was great! Recomened mox app plate that was super good and great priced! Bug beer and super tasty soda ginger ale, very cute place

Stopped head for some delicious ice cream. Flavors is never had before like fig, custard and pineapple mint. The owner was super courteous and gave us a lovely tour of his restaurant that dates over 1000 years.
