My husband, son and I recently had the pleasure of staying in the fabulous Villa 114. This historic cottage was recently renovated to bring it to modern standards while preserving its French heritage charm. The cottage oozes appeal with an inviting porch and front garden, two en-suite guest rooms, a cozy living and dining area, and comfortable outdoor seating on the rear deck.||Ali, the owner, worked tirelessly to ensure all of our needs were met to provide a most pleasant stay. Our suite was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. Ali added lovely touches, such as luxury bath products and vases of fresh flowers. A bottle of locally produced wine chilled in the kitchen refrigerator. In college, Ali studied the culinary arts and she shared her talents with us every morning at breakfast time. The communal dining table was laden with fresh pastries from the local bakery, succulent white peaches from the tree in the backyard and delicious preserves made by Ali herself. She also prepared delicious hot breakfasts using local ingredients.||The cottage is centrally located within easy walking distance to most Akaroa attractions. We walked a very short distance to the quaint movie theatre. The beach, restaurants and shopping are just a couple of blocks away. ||Villa 114 was definitely one of my favorite accommodations during my family’s two week trip exploring New Zealand. If you’d like to get away from the typical hotel room, treat yourself to Ali’s fine hospitality in one of Akaroa’s historic homes. You’ll be glad you did!|
