"Lifelong lover of all things Brazilian, Swedish-born Petra fulfilled her fantasy of running her own pousada (small hotel) when she founded Villa Balthazar with husband Felix in the coastal town of Búzios 10 years ago. A one-time fishing village, Búzios was discovered by Brigitte Bardot in the ‘60s, followed by the international jetset, leading to its nicknames ‘Búzios Aires’ and reputation as Brazil’s coolest resort. Nestling a mere 30m from Canto Beach and only 400 from the bustling Rua das Pedras, Villa Balthazar is a surprisingly quiet haven. There are just five guest rooms, each designed with a Scandinavian influence, surrounding a beautiful tropical garden and central pool and sun terrace. The emphasis here is on unfussy luxury and next-level service, but with a comfortable family feel (Petra, Felix and their two children live onsite in the main house). Fantastic Bed & Breakfast. Attention to detail and the hospitality blows any hotel away. Paula, Petra and Felix were so professional yet personable. Breakfast was incredible and the rooms spacious and clean. This suited our family perfectly. Quiet, homely and hospitable.

Having stayed as a family with two daughters (aged 2 and 4) at Villa Balthazar on two occasions in 2019 and 2020; we can't wait to get back!||Just 300 meters from the centre and 50 meters from one of Buzios, in our opinion the best beaches, Petra and Felix small boutique hotel is the perfect retreat for families as well as couples looking for a romantic retreat. ||Located in a small villa which has been portraited in multiple interior magazines with a beautiful garden, a nice pool, and a garden house—the rooms are furnished in a tasteful mix of antique and modern art and pieces of furniture from all over the world. ||The breakfast alone also is a reason to stay at Villa Balthazar. Served on the terrasse in the lush garden you will experience Petras homemade Yoghurt and juices, (which are a sent from heaven) and fresh bread from Petra and Felix own bakery. ||What truly makes Villa Balthazar unique, though, is Petras dedication in making sure all guests are happy with their stay. She really does her best in accommodating every possible need you might have like finding a doctor when your children are sick, booking trips and excursions, and borrowing her private bike when you can't find one to rent.||We really can't recommend Villa Balthazar enough!

What a home away from home, lovely place, big room with cosy sitting area, lots of special touch’s and quirky details, close to everything and best breakfast I’ve ever had. Stayed an extra day (5 in total) just to experience it more. Petra couldn’t do enough for me and as a solo female traveller, first time on my own in Brazil, the warm welcome made me feel right at ease and almost part of the family. Would highly recommend Villa Balthazar, price/quality is hard to be beaten and has excellent wifi

In a beautiful and cozy house on a quiet street, few steps from the center, Petra and Felix received us wonderfully for 5 days with everything we wished for. The best bakery in town belongs to them and for breakfast they serve us a feast! Natural fermentation breads, jellies, cakes, pies, yogurt, granola, organic coffee, juices, cheeses.. lovely! The room was very comfortable with a beautiful decor, smart tv and nice amenities. We will certainly be back!

We as a family have been several times to stay at Villa Balthazar whilst staying in Buzios. The place is perfectly situated with a short walk to the busy streets of Rua das Pedras with all its shops and restaurants.||||The place is unique because of its homely feeling and friendly owners Petra and Felix. It resembles a Boutique hotel, nicely decorated and just the right size. Being there as a family worked perfectly as it has a nice pool and court-yard with open space. This together with things you can borrow for a day at the beach makes it ideal when travelling with kids.||||One of the highlights is the breakfast. As they have their own sourdough bakery you will enjoy excellent bread together with all the extras. The bakery in it self is worth an extra stop (just a mile away) when in Buzios.||||So if you are looking for a high quality place to stay with that little bit of "extra" then you should certainly come here.

Villa Balthazar is not jus a fabulous place to stay, it is an embrace. The warmth of the hosts and the staff, coupled with attention to detail and imaginative decor, is remarkable. Villa Balthazar is a small part of Europe/Sweden hidden in a secluded corner of Búzios!! The Villa is charming, decorated with such good taste, and casual chic. The small garden is full of lovely trees, plants and flowers!||Our hosts, Petra and Felix are just perfect! Nothing is too much trouble for Petra, who is everywhere and busy all the time attending to her guests, always with a smile and time to exchange a few words with the guests.||The cherry on the cake is breakfast, everything is homemade: yoghurt, different kinds of jam, granola, bread, croissants, orange juice, and every day, besides the daily fruit salad and egg, a different small pastry was offered.||Even though the Inn is on a very calm and secluded street, it is within walking distance of the famous Rua das Pedras and its boutiques and restaurants, so you have the best of both worlds!||My husband and I spent some lovely days at Villa Balthazar and, as the weather wasn't very helpful, we had the bonus of a lovely place to be safe from the rain! We will most certainly return!||Thank you Petra for your warm hospitality!!
