Where to Stay in Paris (Updated 2025)

"I found this tiny, attractive hotel on a quiet side street within walking distance of the Opéra Garnier and Place de la Madeleine to be very cozy with an antique feel—wood furniture and floral wallpaper—and recommend trying to get a room overlooking the interior courtyard; they offer an American-style breakfast buffet, free Wi‑Fi, and a fitness center." - Matthew Kepnes

This is an old favourite hotel of ours, having frequently stayed there in the past. The location is fantastic, just a few minutes wall to the famous Marais district and the fabulous Place des Vosges. Paris is eminently walkable anyway, and you can walk to Notre Dame or the Latin Quarter in under 30mn, through all the beautiful streets and shops nearby. Our room was of very decent proportions for Paris, spotless, and nicely fitted. Breakfast was a disappointment, with only a small and meagrely provisioned buffet. No croissants left if you don’t get there early. There’s also no option for food at the hotel in the evening, although there is a small bar. Definitely could do better on both fronts. But overall, this is a great places to stay because of the location and decent quality rooms.

The hotel is beautiful. We were able to use luggage storage when we arrived. The staff are incredible. We booked direct, so we got breakfast with our stay, too. The breakfast was typical of Europe, but was enough to start our day. My only real complaint with this hotel was the bathroom. The bathtub is higher up, so it is quite a step out. Also, our water was not consistently hot, and took a while to get hot. Not a huge deal, but definitely not our favorite. Once it did get steamy, there was limited ventilation, so the mirror stayed foggy for a long time after. Again, small issues. Our carpet was also very worn and stained. The room itself was clean, so it was not a deal breaker, but it could use some fixing up.

It's a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Le Marais. It has that cozy riad-style vibe, a little like Morocco — peaceful, with lots of character. The room was small, but comfortable and nicely decorated. What really stood out were the amazing staff, they are friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The breakfast buffet was very good, served in a lovely glass-roof room filled with natural light. The location is excellent: quiet street, yet close to cafés, shops, and metro stations , perfect for exploring Paris on foot. What I didn’t like was the garbage bins right in front of the hotel, which take away a bit from the otherwise elegant atmosphere.

We had a lovely time at the hotel, warm welcome and looked after with kindness and professionalism by Pravin at the desk and all staff of the hotel. The bedroom was spacious and well kept, and breakfast very nice. It was a real pleasure.

The hôtel has qualities that could make it a true gem. But it is uneven. Some rooms are newly renovated and are fantastic. Others are old and simply not on par with what to expect. My last stay was in a room (”luxury”) with a clear smell from the bathroom. Even when commented upon, nothing was changed. I have stayed earlier in a renovated room and loved it. Will i come back? Not sure, i will at least be very picky with what room I get. Love the location!

I was really looking forward to my stay, but unfortunately it ended in a very unpleasant experience. An expensive perfume disappeared from my locked hotel room, and it quickly became clear that the hotel’s handling of the situation was of a very low standard.||When I discovered that the perfume was missing, I informed the reception immediately. Unfortunately, I was met with very little willingness to help, no real effort to investigate what had happened, and no questions about details, timings, or key-card logs. I also never received any follow-up from the management despite requesting it.||Having something disappear from a locked room is bad enough – but the fact that the staff did not take the situation seriously makes it much worse.|This is a matter of safety, security, and professionalism, and the hotel unfortunately failed on all points.||I travel a lot and have never experienced anything like this before.|I cannot recommend the hotel until they show that they can take guest safety seriously and handle incidents like this properly.

This hotel was wonderful! The location can’t be beat, and it was clean and comfortable with a helpful staff. I booked it last minute when my Airbnb didn’t work out and it was an incredible value for what you get. Breakfast downstairs was delicious, too.

We had a delightful stay at this hotel. We had the superior twin room which was spacious and clean, and beds were comfortable. |The staff could not have been nicer - really friendly and helpful. |It's a few minutes walk to Chemin Vert metro station, and about 8 mins to Bastille station.|There are lots and lots of great bistros nearby. We didn't have a bad meal anywhere.|Excellent choice for exploring Le Marais.

Yelp
We stayed at Villa Beaumarchais in the Marias (the 4th Arr.) so that we would to be located in a quieter, less touristy area for a week long visit to Paris, and it was a wonderful decision. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, and we really could not have asked for a better place from which we could enjoy seeing Paris. Within easy walking distance are wonderful cafes and restaurants such as Petit Italien, Petit Marche and Grazie, but there are many, many more, and the staff at Villa Beaumarchais are more than helpful in finding you another new place to enjoy dinner tonight. And if you have come to shop, the shops along and just off of Rue de Turenne, just a couple of blocks away, are just as good as anything in the 5th Arr. We visited the Effiel Tower, the Louvre, Musée D'Osay, the Foundation Louis Vitton and all were a convenient 25 minute Uber ride away for €25, but arguably the best views of Paris are from the dome of the Sacre Couer Basilica. Also, a convenient Uber ride away. However, within easy walking distance of Villa Beaumarchaise is the Places de Vosges, where you can buy your "hat from Paris", and the Musee de Picasso, both of which are not crowded and just as impressive. Do not be dissuaded by the distances from the tourism areas!! If that is what you are going to see, you certainly can, and no matter where you stay, you will have to ride to most places. But I can promise that you will be thankful to be able to get away from there at night to enjoy more intimate and personable dinners with your travel partner, and to see things that others will not. I very highly recommend this wonderful hotel and the Marais as the central feature of a trip to Paris.

Yelp
Run down hotel. Understaffed. Didn't seem to care that we did not have one English Channel on our tv we could not even get subtitles. No one cared. The breakfast was terrible. Not many choices. Terrible bread in Paris !!! Only good thing was that the air conditioner worked well

Yelp
Checked in on Tue 03Jan2023- Fri 06Jan2023. We stayed in room 106. Room was charming but on the small side. May have been for handicap or for limited mobility. View from the room was of the arboretum. Location was good. Hotel is on a sleepy side street, close to a main road. Close to many dining options and shops. My favorite part of the hotel was dining area, and arboretum. For the most part it was quiet and calm. We did not have the breakfast so can not attest to the food.

Yelp
After staying in an 800-year old village in south of France, we were delighted to stay at Villa Beaumarchais! Yes, the room was small by American standards. However, the staff was very helpful and spoke good English. Maybe some rooms are better than others, but ours was really nice. The room was clean, good climate control, illuminated (one master switch in entry was important to find!), security safe in room, nice bath room (at first we also thought the tub was clogged; we discovered you must rotate the drain vent on the vertical face of the tub). Great quality TV (though no time to watch much!). The free breakfast buffet was adequate. Lots of breads, parties, fruits, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. This was a short walk to Bastille. A loooong walk to Eiffel Tower, but we did it. I would stay here again.

Yelp
ROOM SAFE ROBBERY LEFT US PENNILESS IN PARIS My wife and I were robbed of over $1,800 in cash, and a $2,000 camera lens from our hotel room safe. We stayed at the Villa Beaumarchais for four nights. Being seasoned travelers, we were careful to lock our valuables in our room safe each day. On the second day, we came back to find that strangely we could not open the room safe with our combination. We asked the manager at the desk to come up and open it. She did so, but since my wife's purse was still in the safe covering the other valuables, I simply relocked it, not checking it carefully it at the time. The next evening, we opened the safe to pack as were leaving on a plane for Italy at 4:00 AM in the morning. It was then we discovered we had been robbed! Someone had taken all our cash in dollars, and the expensive camera lens, but had left our computer and ipads. Since there was no damage to the door or to the safe, it had to have been an "inside job", done by someone working there or in league with a staff member. I asked the night manager to call the Hotel Manager, but he told us as it was 10:00 PM, and too late, and so I walked to the Police Department to file a report. It took me over two and a half hours to do so, and after I got back to the hotel, I gave the night manager my contact information, and a copy of the police report. I demanded that he have the hotel manager call me as soon as possible. After a week of waiting, I called the hotel manager back myself. He told me that he could do nothing until the police came to question them. I asked him, "What if the police never come?" He simply told me it was out of his hands and abdicated all responsibility. Although this hotel is charming and in a great location, STAY HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK, as the persons who robbed us, could still be working there! Please do not repeat our mistake and end up completely penniless as we were, at the start of our dream vacation. Better to stick with a reputable hotel chain that cares. Obviously, the Villa Beaumarchais, which is owned by the Machefert Group does not!

Yelp
Pros: 1. The location is near central Paris. It is not the best area to stay in Paris but it is reasonably good. 2. The Hotel is very close to metro station which takes you pretty much anywhere in Paris in less than 30 min. 3. Staff are friendly and nice. They speak English very well. Cons: 1. This is not a 4-start hotel. It definitely needs remodeling and more maintenance. Photos on their website are very misleading and probably belong to 10 years ago. 2. Rooms are very small. You can barely find enough room for your luggage. 3. Air conditioning is really bad. It takes hours to heat up such a small room. 4. Housekeeping turns off the heater when they clean your room and once the left the window open. Not pleasant during winter. 5. Lighting was terrible. You could barely see during the dark. 6. Bathtub was clogged. 7. The door to our wardrobe would not close at all and was always hanging in our way out. 8. Breakfast is not good. It has very few items and is low quality. Definitely overpriced. 9. They limit WiFi to one device per person. Not convenient when you have multiple devices. I'll not choose this hotel on my return to Paris.

Yelp
Villa Beaumarchais is an old hotel with lots of charm. It is located in the trendy Le Marais area. The staff is simply wonderful (front desk, housekeeping, restaurant wait staff) -- polite, attentive, friendly and helpful. We had room 301, which is more spacious than most hotel rooms in Europe. Breakfast was good, with a nice selection of breads and pastries, cheeses, fruits, and charcuterie. The only complaint we have is internet speed. It was quite slow and we had to keep logging in. Other than that, it was all in all a delightful stay.

Yelp
First time in Paris and I considered this hotel to be a good value (hotwire.com). It was quiet, comfortable, close to Chemin Vert Metro stop, and had helpful people at front desk (that could speak English if required). It had large bathroom, free wifi, fridge. Real queen size bed (not 2 twins pushed together). Not sparkling new, but clean. Not sure about parking. The people at the front desk were helpful with directions, maps, and general concierge services.

Yelp
I have stayed here twice and I would stay again. The location is great. Very close to the Chemin Vert Metro station. The hotel is very quiet, especially at night. The breakfast buffet is good and reasonably priced. Depending on the room you get they are decent size and clean. Prices are also reasonable for Paris. 2 complaints. The first, and this only happened the second time I was there, a few staff at the front desk were pretty rude. Second the person who fills the mini bar entered my room 3 different times without knocking, which was annoying. They also have free wi fi, but only for one device which is not great for 2 people. I would stay here again. But I was less happy the second time I stayed.

Yelp
The Hotel has a convenient location but is past it's prime. The guest room needs updating - worn and faded carpet and poor housekeeping. There were layers of dust on the carpet around the room. The bathroom was spacious. Amenities were of average quality. The property needs some love tinting it back to a true four star Hotel. Mixed bag of staff - from super friendly and helpful to cold and standoffish. I would try elsewhere on my return to Paris.

Yelp
I loved this little hotel. I needed a last minute hotel because my AirBnB cancelled, I didn't want to bother with another so the search was on. I still wanted to look for a great rate and found this lovely little hotel for my first stay in Paris. My daughter and I shared a superior room the bed was large enough for the both of us but was quite comfortable the bathroom was lovely and we enjoyed the bath tub they even had a little coffee machine for my morning jolt. The hotel was clean had air conditioning and an elevator lovely views in my room. It was also walking distance to many of the sites that we wanted to see including the Picasso museum which was only about four blocks away. There were several little restaurants in the neighborhood that we stopped by for drinks or breakfast. I will definitely go back and maybe even try your other sister hotels in Paris. Oh and to top that all off we had a wonderful rate of 145 including tax.

Yelp
This hotel was gross. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. We sat in the lounge downstairs with a friend and wrote in the dust on the table. Saw a mouse run by. It was in a good location, though... I would recommend staying elsewhere. It is really outdated. Upon checking in, we made sure there weren't any other fees, but in checking out they tried to charge us more money for a tax. When we disputed it, they lowered the amount which made us assume it was just a lie. Planned to dispute it on credit card, but it never showed up on the bill.

Yelp
Booked this 4-star hotel via Priceline. Definitely not a 4-star hotel. The shower water temperature often went cold. The bath drain was clogged. The air temperature regulation was so bad. We were either sweating or freezing at night. And the lighting was horrendous. Just a single spot light from the ceiling at the sink. So your face is shadowed out. Good luck putting on make-up. Also the location isn't that great. Kind of in the back corner of where you'd want to be.
