Villa Cicolina (Montepulciano, Tuscany) 10 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Just down the road from the postcard-perfect medieval town of Montepulciano, Villa Cicolina is a quiet, country-chic villa surrounded by vineyards and olive groves. The aristocratic families that used to summer at the old house left behind a legacy of well-preserved ceiling frescoes, artwork, and period furniture, lending the hotel an old-fashioned air, while today’s owners have endeavored to make the beautifully adorned rooms feel comfortable and lived-in — the sort of boutique hotel where you’d feel comfortable kicking back on a 16th-century loveseat while enjoying a glass of Vino Nobile." - Tablet Hotels

Fantastic stay. Loved the gardens and pool and restaurant. Brilliant space to holiday with family. We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage and it was gorgeous. Ate dinner at the restaurant which was exceptional

This stay exceeded all of our exceptions and then some. If you are dreaming of a Tuscan villa that blends history, exceptional hospitality, kindness, magnificent cuisine, lovely humans, and unforgettable views, this is the place. We can’t wait to return. Thank you Villa Cicolina!:)

Stunning views from everywhere. Our room was very comfortable and spacious. The onsite restaurant was very good. We reserved "The Shed" for a romantic dinner which did NOT disappoint. The Breakfast options were great, lots of choices and something for everyone. Parking was challenging but it tends to be wherever you go in Italy. The WIFI was spotty but it served its purpose. Our room advertised "individual heat and AC" but when I asked how to turn the AC on I was told that the heat is on for everyone and the best I can do is turn the heat down. No screens on windows, but less buggy than our last place. Very quiet. Staff were all amazing and super helpful.

We have been coming to Italy for nearly 30 years and stayed in many different hotels and villas and this place is our new favourite. ||The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautifully maintained and rooms are lovely. The building is several hundred years old so some aspects of the decor would be described as “rustic” and if you want polished marble and gold taps then go somewhere else but you will be missing a real treat. ||We stayed in the suite “il Balcone” which faces east so you get morning sun and avoid the heat of the afternoon. This is the only room in the main building with a balcony. There is very effective air conditioning in the bedroom and lounge. The room has minibar, kettle, iron and hairdryer. ||The restaurant has indoor and outdoor tables. Service was great. Shout out to Roberto. The menu is a bit limited and as we stayed 8 nights we would have appreciated more variety but everywhere we have stayed always has a limited menu. ||The pool area is lovely being in an olive grove so there is plenty of natural shade as well as open space immediately around the pool. ||Montepulciano is about 3 miles up the hill. One could walk it but if you do, be aware that from the gate to the town it’s another mile to the top of the town.||For us, Cicolina offers the right balance between “rustic” and “posh” in the sense that the building and gardens are traditional while the service is what you might expect from high end city establishment - but with a genuine smile.||As you’d expect, Cicolina is not cheap but it’s definitely value for money and we thoroughly recommend. ||We will be returning.

Wow - it Exceeded our expectations! The setting is absolutely stunning - lovely and charming and quiet. Our room was spacious and the bed was super comfy. The pool setting is so lovely as are the general sitting and chilling areas. The staff were super helpful and always super friendly. Breakfast buffet was tasty - had everything you’d need. And we had dinner at the restaurant which we would highly recommend - delicious food and super reasonably priced with such a nice ambience. Location is great too - It’s a short drive (4 mins) into Montepulciano which was handy. Honestly could fault it and would recommend to everyone!

We stayed for just one night after cancelling the second night due to stinkbugs in the room and the internal noise from above rooms. Hotel is quite unique. Our original assigned room was in a standalone structure near the restaurant. I think it was a junior suite. Ambiance was dark and unwelcoming. Since it was early in the day, we requested another 'suite' in the main building. We were accommodated after a bit of resistance from the front desk lady.||Our new suite was on second floor. However after some time we started finding stinkbugs in the room, mostly hiding in the folds of the curtains. Despite the charm of the room, my wife could not relax due to the stinkbug issue. My last straw was 2am with people in room above moving around and talking. It was quite a creaky floorboard ambiance for an hour. ||The property is old and if you like sleeping in museums, then this is the place. I understand older properties are limited regarding renewal designs. Property grounds are wonderful. The pool and view are stunning. Restaurant was closed for dinner but breakfast was great. Shame about the bugs.

Beautiful location with stunning view from their lovely pool. rooms were a little rustic but very clean and spacious and AC worked very well. Menu was limited but very good quality. Staff were friendly and efficient. Only downside was access to Montepulciano where using the car was essential despite being only 2 km away.

Yelp
My fiance and I chose this hotel for our August 2015 trip to Italy based on TripAdvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed. By the way, the correct spelling is "Cicolina." The hotel and its grounds were beautiful! A very romantic setting, it's set up on a hill overlooking beautiful Tuscan scenery. The hotel is about 2 kilometers from town, and a portion of that drive is on a gravel street which isn't the easiest to navigate. You definitely need a car to get to town as well as the surrounding areas. Our suite was large and decorated to suit the surroundings. We did think the furniture in the sitting room was a bit "tired." The restaurant was top-notch - our best meal of the trip, hand's down. We ate there the first night and wish we had tried it a second time. Service is also excellent. Very, very friendly and helpful. The infinity pool is beautiful and unexpected for a quaint property. The pool (paint) probably could use a good refresher. Wi-fi is slow.

Yelp
Villa Cicolina is a fantastic little hotel, event space, and restaurant on the outskirts of Montepulciano in the Tuscany region of Italy. While my friends opted to have their wedding elsewhere, this would have been a beautiful spot to get married. Infinity pool and infinity hot tub looking over the valley. Interesting gardens and paths throughout the grounds. (Just check out the pictures on the website) We ended up doing the rehearsal dinner here and the food was out of this world. The highlights were the lasagna (best lasagna I've ever had) and the chocolate lava cake. Great service and good wine. I'd love to come back here again for a longer stay.

Yelp
This was recommended to us by the place we are staying at, a small agritourism place just up the road. The pasta is homemade and the food is very fresh. We were thrilled with our meals, and the other diners' meals looked just as good. Friendly staff as well.
