We stayed here one night. It was clean. The owner was amazing. We called to see if we could check in early because we had caught the 4am ferry and were exhausted. He did let us check in early and he was very kind and informative. They offer extra touches like beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler. The TV was a smart tv so we were able to watch movies after a long day. The balcony had a pretty view in the morning.. it is close to restaurants and beaches. If I had to give one con and it’s really just a picky little detail, I would say if you are a female with long hair, bring your own shampoo and conditioner as the type they have here does not seem to be high quality. Other than that, our stay was fantastic and I would definitely book here again!

We arrived and the room had not been cleaned from the last guest. We called them and were able to get in touch with a representative from Villa Coral. Someone came within 15 minutes and cleaned the room thoroughly. We never received an apology for the inconvenience. I understand these things happen though and the situation was fixed quickly. Other than that, we were able to have a place to park our car, there was ac, warm water. The was one roach in the place. Bed was loud when tossing and turning. The room was fine for the one night we stayed.

Worst hotel experience. I have been to islands before, and i understand that some things are out of control, but the situation of the rooms at villa coral was unacceptable. We spent more time killing insects and bugs than anything else in the room. They were everywhere. In our clothes, our luggages, in the toilet; and they were dozens. We were relieved to leave on our last day. Toilet paper and towels were not provided. The room was shockingly dirty like it wasn’t cleaned at all before our arrival. We had to call and have them change our room. The second one was a bit cleaner but we would still wake up to an insect beside us and the toilet was critical. The house is for sale which could explain the poor maintenance. We would not recommend at all. Pay a bit more and enjoy your stay somewhere else.

This property is for sale and seems very neglected. Difficult getting in. There is mention of an office but not sure where this is. Never saw any worker. Ended up calling owner for info. We had a very basic “room”. It was like a college dorm room. The bedding was old, worn and stained. I doubt the cover is cleaned between visits. There is no refreshing of toilet paper (Yup. Ran out). We discovered the “roof top patio” by poking around. We hung our swimwear there to dry. There is a microwave on the front porch which is the only likely place you’ll connect to wi-fi. There is a small fridge in room. There are very pretty photos posted on here and I’m not sure when they were taken as this place is NOT welcoming in any sense. I’m adding many updated photos. Maybe if we were in our twenties we would have been ok with it.

I was having difficulty rating this because I didn't know if it was my expectations that were the problem or the experience. Maybe a 4.5? It's not a luxury hotel, but you get what you pay for. Pros: - very cute atmosphere and decor - AC - hot water - fridge - cooler and beach towels provided - tv and wifi worked - Decent bed Cons: - Caribbean means humidity, which means bugs, so just don't be messy and leave food out - the walls were a little thin - the office is supposed to be open during certain times, but it was always closed when we were there. Do they close on weekends? You'd think weekends and peak season would be so busy that they need to be available. As for the location, the guest house is located on a hill, and a 10-15 minute walk from the main street of Ezperanza. It was really hot during the day so walking was a sweaty affair. BUT it was in a residential area, so the neighborhood was pretty quiet if you prefer that.

Absolutely disgusting room with bugs everywhere. The room reeked of wet mildew. No hot water in the shower and the coffee machine was filthy with the previous guest’s coffee still in the pot. No supplies available in the room to deal with the cockroaches. Some of the money spent on the flatscreen TVs in the rooms should have gone towards cleaning supplies.

Cons: Leak from unseen source (made half of the place flooded with water nightly) Kitchen was dirty Dead cockroaches and bugs were found (but it is to be expected from a tropical area) Bed smelled like an unknown person’s body odor Bathroom floor was unpaved and dirty Pros: Shower has warm water Decorations were very cute Internet works well Decent amount of space Overall personal feelings: Okay, 2.5 stars

This place is absolutely disgusting. The towels were stained and right when we walked in a baby cockroach, one of many that we saw that night we only stayed 50min and saw 6 of them.

Yelp
Literally the WORST experience ever - DO NOT STAY HERE; they GHOSTED me upon arrival, and I had to panic and find another place last minute. Half a day wasted on Vieques in this mess. No one was there for check-in. I waited two hours while waiting for someone to arrive for me to check-in and/or to get ahold of booking.com (who also could not get ahold of them); other guests arrived and called the owner on my behalf, only to have the guest look me straight in the eyes being like "uhhh you might want to find another place to stay" It is even more ridiculous because they charged me hours before I got there, so they knew I was coming. I booked through booking.com and since Villa Coral ghosted both me and booking.com, the booking company FINALLY just issued me a refund nearly two months later Save your time and money, and go literally anywhere else.

Yelp
Lovely guesthouse on Vieques Island.. the room - small nice cozy! Location just a few mins walk from main stretch of restaurants and bars which is good so you get to live in a quiet place than on busy street..they have a microwave for folks to use out in the open and a few tables and chairs and benches lined up to enjoy their patio..the person at the front desk is very helpful and she helped us get a cab to go back to the ferry terminal..it takes $5 to get here by cab from the ferry terminal..We loved our stay at Villa Coral..highly recommend..

Yelp
We only stayed one night, and we came around 6 PM to drop off our stuff before heading back out to go kayaking. The staff was super nice and really attentive by email before our arrival. One of the staffers stayed a little after her shift so that she could welcome us to the property and have us sign the paper work and get the keys. She was attentive and gave us a map of the area and other tips before we left. The room we had was small, fitting just a queen bed and a desk. It was definitely a "vintage" hotel, where the bathroom was a shower stall and toilet with a folding door to close it off, and the sink was outside by the bed. It was clean and somewhat renovated, though you could tell that certain things were in need of upgrade - the windows were kind of old and one of ours didn't even close at all. The hallway to the entrance has a key lock and the room had a numerical lock on it so it is very secure. Additionally, there were a few common area spaces - roof deck and outdoor patio with bar area - that would have been nice to use, but we weren't there long enough (and it was raining) to check it out. All in all, for less than $100 it was fine, but we definitely felt like we got a massive upgrade when staying at the Sheraton Old San Juan the next night.

Yelp
PHENOMENAL. OWNERS: The ladies who own this place are incredibly helpful and kind. They helped us book bike rentals and tours (with no cut for them), gave us recommendations on where to eat and where to avoid. We took our laundry in to town to a laundromat but it was closed because of some obscure holiday, so they did our laundry for us. ROOM: Lovely and clean. Pretty tile sink, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water. We had a fridge and coffee maker in the room. They gave us delicious herbal scented mini soaps, bath and beach towels, as well as the use of beach chairs and coolers for free. Air conditioning and ceiling fan, and sun shutters. GUESTHOUSE: Located at the top of Esperanza ~ 10 minute walk from the Malecon. We liked that it was a bit farther away because it was super quiet and peaceful. It is up a hill, so don't wear high heels! 2nd floor deck is lovely and cozy with pretty plants, comfortable hammock, free wifi, communal mini kitchen area (microwave, sink). Always a breeze. Rooftop is great for star gazing (and you will see a lot of stars out here). BOTTOM LINE: This place is a GREAT deal. We wholeheartedly recommend it. It was only $85 a night and was worth every penny.

Yelp
We really enjoyed staying at this place. The room was fully equipped (including beach chairs and portable fridge) and VERY clean. The people working here are friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend staying in at Villa Coral when visiting Vieques. Also, it's only a few minutes away from the main street and the beach.

Yelp
We really enjoyed staying here. We were on Vieques for four days on a spring break trip. This guest house was perfect for what we were looking for. It was affordable, clean, and the property simply felt cared for and attended to by people who loved it. There was a constant breeze that swept the upstairs patio. Beautiful bougainvillea flowers and orchids bloomed. During the day the room got pretty hot but as soon as we turned on the air conditioning when we got back it cooled off pretty quickly. The staff was lovely and accommodating. This was a wonderful place to stay and we would recommend it to anyone. Enjoy!

Yelp
Fantastic guest house. Clean safe rooms. Rooftop deck with breath taking views. Walking distance to main restaurant street, however rent a car, golf cart or scooter is you want to explore the island.

Yelp
Since the last review was last year, I'll give an update for 2014. We spent 4 nights at Villa Coral and had a lovely time. It is still fairly basic, but really what more do you need when you're on vacation? The rooms were clean and have a fridge. They also supply each room with a coffeepot and coffee. There is a grocery store called Colmado Lydia down the street which we found very convenient. The owners were so helpful in organizing our daily outings: from sea kayaks to helping us find someone to take us deep sea fishing. We enjoyed our morning coffees and afternoon rum & cokes on the veranda at the front of the guesthouse. A little heads up when booking your rooms, rooms 1 & 2 overlook the public veranda. We stayed in room 2 and sometimes had people sitting right outside both our windows. Luckily, it wasn't at 3am. If you want to party all night you might want to stay at Lazy Jacks Hostel on the Malecon. This place is more relaxed and quiet. Just what we were looking for since our all night party at the hostel days are over. They provide beach towels, a cooler, and beach chairs which was much appreciated for our days spent on the beach.

Yelp
Great place to stay on Vieques. Fairly basic, but rooms were nice and clean, staff was friendly and helpful, price was good for the area. Free wi-fi and nice porch/roof to hang out on were added bonuses, and provided beach chairs, towels and cooler were appreciated.

Yelp
Way over due review( March 2012)! Beautiful, clean, updated, comfortable place to stay:) The owners were so sweet & accommodating (did my laundry) & they love animals which was a plus for me. We hung out with their lovely cat names Moosho who I adored! I'd love to come back and visit. Be careful when driving around with all the stray animals running around. I was feeding them whenever I could but that's me:)

Yelp
This place was great, the manager (owner?) was extremely nice, very welcoming and accommodating. She answered all of our questions about the island upon arrival and was available at any time for additional questions or recommendations. The rooms were clean and well maintained. I would definitely stay here again. I believe another reviewer mentioned the roosters - which you can hear - but even as an extremely light sleeper I wasn't bothered by them. I think roosters would be a problem anywhere you are on the island.

Yelp
This is as real an experience of Vieques as you can get without moving there. You are in a neighborhood, not a tourist strip. The famous independent horses of Vieques stroll up and down the street. The women who own this place are Boricua to their soul. They are helpful but do not promote or force any service. So their reccos can be trusted. The place is immaculate and best of all no tv. If you must use wifi, you have access on the veranda where the breezes and the sounds of Esperanza will make you just turn off your phone and just disfruta l'ambiente.

Yelp
We stayed in the "apartment" (http://www.villacoralguesthouse.com/apartment.html) and the "cottage" (http://www.villacoralguesthouse.com/cottage.html). This review is about the cottage, which is a little closer to the the Malecon (food, drinks, new friends), because we were staying a little longer (10 days) and wanted the little more privacy and kitchenette. We had to pay a little bit more but it was worth it. The place was clean comfortable. We cooked some, ate out some, and brought stuff home to eat under the gazebo. There is a outdoor shower for cleaning up after the beach. It is one block from Lydia's (small market) and the bakery (closed Sundays and Mondays). Night sky is nice too. We love to sit under the stars, share a bottle of wine, and discuss which beach to go to the next day ...

Yelp
So my girlfriends and I planned our lady cation to Vieques without alot of knowledge of the island or the guesthouse. Since there were only 3 of us we booked a room with an extra mattress... to our surprise when we arrived they had upgraded us to this beautiful 2 bedroom apartment.. for free!!! The rooms were beautiful and clean. We had a private patio behind our room as well as access to the amazing rooftop deck. I cannot wait to go back and stay here again!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful - 5 stars all around!! Adorable guesthouse, great location, incredibly friendly staff! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying here. A short walk from the main strip in Esperanza, it's a good location and a nice price. We had a 2 bedroom condo that was basic, no frills, but all that we needed with a serviceable kitchen and comfortable rooms. We weren't planning on spending much time there, so we really didn't need many bells and whistles. The roof deck is a nice place to star gaze and yes, you will hear the roosters from next door, but after years of living in cities, I can't sleep in total quiet, so it wasn't a problem for me. The staff is really lovely, I found them attentive and efficient and very eager to be helpful. My only suggestion to improve your experience is bring your own beach towels! They will supply some, but they're very small.

Norppa V.

Yelp
Very cute B&B. We had amazing service. The staff is superfriendly! Quiet and peaceful location and a clean room with everything we needed.

Michelle K.

Yelp
For the price paid, this is a great stay. Every other place is double the price other than the hostel. If you are expecting the amenities of a hotel, this is not the place for you. This is somewhere above a private room in a hostel with private bathroom but not as high as a typical hotel. As their name indicates, "guesthouse." They give the basics plus extra stuff that a beach area would offer. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. It is a little further away from the main strip than the other hotels, but the exercise did us some good after eating so much anyways. Air conditioner cooled down the room well, mini-bar fridge was good enough for what we needed. The room came with beach chairs, beach towels, and a cooler bag, which all came in very handy. Most people travel as couples, I was traveling with a friend, so just an FYI the washroom door is a simple closet door with absolutely no privacy, so just be aware if you are not comfortable with the person you are rooming with ;)

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE. My best friend and I went from an okay hostel in old San Juan (hostel had good location and service but had really shitty uncomfortable beds!!!!) to Villa Coral in Vieques and Villa Coral was like HEAVEN compared to the hostel. We were grateful for Villa Coral's comfy beds. We both slept like babies. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. They provided an AC but my friend and I preferred the ceiling fan. They provided beach chairs and a cooler for us which we ended up using everyday. The woman who checked us in was so friendly and welcoming. We had a rental car and easily parked in the driveway provided. Also they had a hose outside the steps to wash off your feet after a long day at the beach. Roof views were awesome and hammocks to lay in on the patio and in the back yard. I loved how the villa was integrated in the local neighborhood, you felt like you were part of the community. Horses and dogs roamed the streets. It was the best way to experience Vieques because we actually felt like we lived there. Also its a 5-10 min walk to the popular strip where the restaurants and bars are located. When I come back I definitely plan to stay here again!!!!

Yelp
We got a room that had the sink in the area where we slept in. For the 4 days that we stayed there, it was clogged. The water from the shower somehow sprayed all over the bathroom floor and into the main rooom, so we had to cut our showers to 3-5 minutes. We were not happy about this, especially since they charge an extra $5.00 for additional towels, so we used our own beach towels. The actual guest house is good looking and the rooftop deck has a great view if you are looking at towards the back and not towards the front of the house-which is why my husband and I felt that the website picture is deceiving. We were a little surprised that this house is located in the ghetto part of Vieques; there is an abandoned house on the corner and another empty one in front. For the money, this should be more like a $50.00 to $60.00 a night charge. We even had to go out on the porch to use the internet because they had a bad connection on site, there was no TV in the room and the ammenities were limited. On the plus side-Mireya was very friendly and welcoming, but she can only do so much to fix all the other issues at hand. They also had beach chairs and a cooler for you to use, which was convenient to pack some cold drinks.

Yelp
Me and my boyfriend are students looking for a small affordable place to stay. We would be traveling and sightseeing all day, so wanted a place to basically shower and sleep. This was perfect, small and affordable and clean. Good location, just a 10 min walk from the main strip in Esperaza (the place to be), and very friendly helpful owners!
