Villa Cortine (Sirmione, Lake Garda) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s staggering when you stop to think just how many iconic destinations Italy contains. The lake district of the north would be the absolute pride in a lesser country; here it’s one among many unmissable attractions. All of which is the long way around to saying that Lake Garda is something special indeed. By extension, a hotel created from an aristocratic residence surrounded by acres of gardens and parkland with a view of the lake — a hotel like, say, Palace Hotel Villa Cortine — would be nothing short of extraordinary." - Tablet Hotels

My husband and I stayed at Villa Cortine for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was without doubt one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed in. The gardens and different seating areas around the hotel and its grounds were spectacular and encouraged staying on property which was very close to the Grotto of Catullus and the attractions of sirmione in any event. It was a true refuge of relaxation. The room was clean with comfortable beds, pillows and lovely linens with a great stocked refrigerator of snacks and drinks. Breakfast was wonderful and varied with amazing variety of food and a beautiful setting. Loved the quiet pool, the deck on the lake, and the grounds. Best of all was the staff; warm, helpful and generous with time and recommendations, particularly Michele and Osama, who got us to our ferry on time. All the staff (wait staff, pool attendant, lakefront attendant) were great and attentive. The only downside of the hotel if there is any is the difficulty of getting taxis to navigate through the crowds in old town up to the hotel. They send a golf cart and that worked great but we weren’t prepared for that when we arrived.

We enjoyed a marvelous stay at this hotel in early October. The crazy Sirmione crowds died down and we enjoyed beautiful weather and remarkable hospitality. Driving to the hotel thru the narrow cobblestone pedestrian streets was a bit harrowing but the drive is worth it as the hotel sits majestically on the hill at the end of the Sirmione peninsula. We had a wonderful lake view from our hotel balcony. The hotel is really stunning and palatial. The hotel staff wonderful, housekeeping excellent and the front desk staff so professional. Shout out to Michele for his help with all our reservations and sightseeing. Lake Garda is a gem and not typically visited by Americans. I don’t know why that is because it is an amazing place to visit. Highlight of our stay was a small boat ride exploring Sirmione and its castle from the sea, and given the small boat we were able to get close to the castle and go under its bridges. Stay at Villa Cortine— top notch hotel!

Hello. I would like to share my feedback about our stay at this hotel. We spent only one night here, and we genuinely enjoyed almost everything. The room was extremely comfortable, the atmosphere was fantastic, and overall our experience was wonderful. I especially want to highlight the breakfast service. We have never experienced anything like this before — the level of attention, kindness, and professionalism in the morning was absolutely exceptional. If possible, please convey our gratitude to everyone working at breakfast; their service exceeded all expectations. However, there was one negative moment that significantly affected our stay. In the evening, when we went to sleep, we could clearly hear loud music coming from the bar area. It was so loud that even turning on the TV did not help to cover the sound. We were traveling as a family — two adults and one child — and it was genuinely difficult to fall asleep. When my husband went to the reception to politely ask if the music could be turned down, the man at the desk (an older gentleman) responded in a surprisingly rude and dismissive manner, saying: “We are a five-star hotel, and we must have music playing.” We honestly did not expect such a tone. My husband had to insist more firmly and remind him that guests in a five-star hotel should be able to sleep. A while later, the music was indeed turned down. I want to note that the lobby was almost empty at that moment, so it is unclear for whom the loud music was playing in the first place. This is an important detail I would like the hotel to take into account. Apart from this issue, the property is beautiful — spacious grounds, places to walk, and lovely views. Overall, I would still recommend the hotel, as it has many strong sides. With just a small improvement in evening noise management and guest communication at reception, the experience would be flawless.

We have just stayed here a week with our family of 5, having come back for the second year we were beyond impressed. The staff were beyond excellent, all of them individually great, attentive, smiley and engaging. They really made our stay here excellent. The food and drinks are great, whatever restaurant you are in, whatever time of day you will always be satisfied. We will be coming back next year for the third time running if we are able too! Thank you to all the lovely Villa Cortine staff :)

My husband and I had a fantastic experience at Villa Cortine! From the moment we walked in the service was impeccable. The grounds and the room were beautiful and well equipped. The food was very good - we had dinner and breakfast there. The location to Sirmione was also great - two easy ways to get to town as well as a private dock on the lake.|The only thing I would warn people about if they are driving is the drive through the old town is a bit tedious with all of people walking so you must be patient and comfortable with tight spaces.|If we go to Lake Garda again we would definitely stay at Villa Cortine

Don’t hesitate to book this beautiful hotel. The room was beautifully appointed with a very generous balcony. The service in the hotel is impeccable. The grounds meticulously kept with a lovely beach on the lake. The food at the restaurants 5star. Don't miss out on the brick oven pizza on the terrace at aperitvo hour. It rivals pizza from Naples. If ever back in the area….we will certainly make another visit.

Well what can I say, a fantastic location and an utterly beautiful building. A pretty pool area, beautiful grounds and private pier where you can sit in the sun and swim in the lake. It’s a short stroll into the village through the gardens. The sunsets and views…..WOW! What lets it down? The rooms need carpets. The soundproofing is awful. You can hear people in rooms next door coughing, talking, moving around, banging their wardrobe doors, scraping chairs along the floor, flushing the toilet and having a shower. The staff are attentive and very friendly. But, the hotel needs to sort out its delivery area. In the early hours of the morning you’re woken by banging and crashing of deliveries, moving crates on wheels around on the tail lift on the truck, right underneath your balcony and goes on for about an hour. It’s so loud with or without the door open. It’s not a relaxing environment at all and when you have half a dozen guest staying, why put them all next to each other so they are disturbed? Madness. So you’re woken late at night when the other guests go to bed and then woken early by deliveries. Carpeting in the halls and bedrooms are 100% required, along with soundproofing and either change the time or location of your deliveries, to make this a worthwhile stay. Otherwise I’d suggest giving it a miss as the good points do not make up for tiredness and exhaustion through nights and early mornings of disturbed sleep.

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon and it did not disappoint! It is one of the best places I’ve stayed at in a very long time. We had a glass of wine on arrival, complimentary champagne and strawberries brought to our room due to it being our honeymoon and the staff were outstanding - perfect service and so very welcoming. It was so close to the main square with a short walk through the park to get there and the drive to the hotel wasn’t bad either, considering it’s right in the centre! You have hotel parking with valet service. Also, the restaurant is to die for! The food is delicious and we had complementary aperitif from the chef before we started our meal. They were also so accommodating with my husband’s nut allergy and even created him his own menu. The pool is lovely and quiet and the beach is beautiful. I recommend having a good explore of the grounds too, as there’s so many quaint little places you can sit and enjoy the view! This hotel felt like I was in a movie and I can’t wait to go back for our anniversary!

Yelp
Villa Cortine is a breathtaking place. It's a must stay if you are visiting Lake Garda. You have to drive through a small town with narrow streets to get to the property, but from the moment they open the gates to the Villa you feel like you got transported to an ancient Roman garden. The Villa itself looks historical and surreal. The property is very big and will take your breath away-beautiful flowers, lash grass, old trees-all surrounded by old little buildings, structures, ponds and statues. The location is perfect- right on the lake with it's own jetty and beach. The hotel has several bars and restaurants. We tried them all and both the decor and the food were absolutely the best. The complimentary breakfast buffet had the true five star selection-berries and tropical fruit, large selection of honey, cheeses, yoghurt and dozens of freshly baked pastries; not to mention the delicious coffee. The lunches and dinners were expectedly pricey but also very delicious. The room overlooked the lake and you could also see the Sirmion Castle towers. The customer service was top notch. The private parking was very convenient and they provided shuttle service into town or throughout the property. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Ah Villa Cortine. Without a doubt one of the best hotels in the entire of Italy (Well Lake Garda at least) Nestled right at the tip of Sirmione overlooking the lake is the picturesque historical and unforgettable Villa Cortine. It is most likely my favorite hotel in the entire world. Luxurious and reminiscent of times past, the Villa Cortine will sweep you off your feet with it's romantic gardens and waterfalls, precious buildings and beautiful rooms. None others compare to this. The decor is beyond breathtaking with painstakingly created murals, authentic roman statues and gilded chairs. The piano player is delightful and everything about this hotel will make you feel like a participant in a fairy tale. Their breakfast buffets are also amazing. The hungry kitten says: Do not forget to feed the little birds at breakfast, they will hop onto your table and sing to you!

Yelp
Breathtaking property both grounds and rooms. Amazing staff ( Massimo, Alessio, Frederico, Marco, Manhut ) and service. Excellent restaurants - our best meals were here. We've stayed in all the fine hotels over the last four weeks of travel in Italy and France and this has been our entire families absolute favorite. Tip: organize a boat in advance to have more options for time / type.

Yelp
Do not go. We saved this for the last week of our trip, thinking it looked like a very special place. They claim discounted rates so if you stay for 7 nights, you will only be charged for 6. However upon check out, they refused to honor their own advertisements. I'm simply shocked. This extra 1000 dollars was certainly a blow, but how horrible to lie to your guests. I have screen shots of the website clearly stating book 7 nights and 1 is free. I asked them to correct the bill and they refused. They would not give us our car keys until i signed their incorrect bill slip. The said they would not honor the discount because i had called them to discuss the reservation and provide my credit card details over the phone rather than use their unsecured website. They literally held us there by holding our keys until we signed! I couldn't believe it. They already had my card details from check-in and the initial reservation. We never would have hung in there with this stay had we known how horribly they would treat us. We wanted to leave early on. It turns out they claim to discount the hotel on their site because it is a horrible time of year to visit. We experienced complete white-outs on multiple days due to "humidity". We couldn't see the lake it was so thick. If you check an air quality report on the web, it's red flagged, so it's unsafe to go out and breath the air due to so much pollution. They lie to you and claim it's "humidity". The bugs are simply unbearable. We ended up eating our meals in our room to keep away from the swarming gnats and mosquitoes after trying to tough it out the first few days. Ordering in is nice once in a while, but multiple meals a day for a week? I'm so disappointed, and I have to say I will never be back. They ruined our vacation. I feel robbed of my time and my money. I left in tears. The property itself is pretty and images online are accurate. It's too bad the management operating the property are such complete ...
