Villa Cortine (Sirmione, Lake Garda) 4 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s staggering when you stop to think just how many iconic destinations Italy contains. The lake district of the north would be the absolute pride in a lesser country; here it’s one among many unmissable attractions. All of which is the long way around to saying that Lake Garda is something special indeed. By extension, a hotel created from an aristocratic residence surrounded by acres of gardens and parkland with a view of the lake — a hotel like, say, Palace Hotel Villa Cortine — would be nothing short of extraordinary." - Tablet Hotels

The rooms, the grounds and the facilities are all extremely well looked after. The food, of a very high quality and well priced considering the competition in the town below. However what really sets this hotel apart from so many other 5stars is the staff. The staff are excellent! On the second day of our stay, my wife needed to go to the hospital, the staff kicked in to make sure we got there and back safely. They looked after us extremely well. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Far from the hustle and bustle of Sirmione, yet only a short walk away from the heart of the old town, this hotel provided us with a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing retreat. Our room was great, with an expansive balcony, the grounds are a delight, and food at all the hotel's restaurants was outstanding. Waiting staff were a little hit-and miss, and perhaps in need of further training, but were universally helpful and anxious to please. The concierge was superb. All in all, well worth the money and highly recommended. I can't imagine staying anywhere else around Lake Garda. Do try it if you possibly can.

If you ever wondered what it’s like to step into a dream – Villa Cortine is your answer. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we’d walked onto the set of a classic movie: a Romanesque villa complete with statues, ceiling frescoes, and elegant serenity at every turn.||||We stayed in Room 218, which had a breathtaking view of the lake, the pool, and the garden restaurant. Waking up there felt like waking in paradise. The room was pristine, the bed absolutely enormous and blissfully comfortable, and the bathroom – fully marble – felt more like a spa than a hotel ensuite. The shower was powerful, warm, and just what we needed after a day of sun-soaked lounging.||||Speaking of lounging – let’s talk about the gardens. A horticulturalist’s fantasy! Acres of meticulously manicured grounds, romantic little seating areas tucked into fragrant corners, and views that make your heart exhale. Whether you want to read, sip wine, or just stare into the distance like a 19th-century poet – this is your spot.||||Food-wise, we were truly spoiled. There are three stunning restaurants onsite, and we ate most of our meals at the hotel because everything was so good! As someone who is both gluten and dairy intolerant, I was beyond impressed by how knowledgeable and accommodating the staff were. They adapted dishes beautifully without making me feel like an inconvenience – which, sadly, is rare!||||The bar deserves its own standing ovation. It’s exquisitely stocked – so much so, I had to consult ChatGPT to find out what half the bottles were! (It was very impressed 😂). Some of the tequilas are hand-painted collectors’ items, and the brandy selection is top tier. Each night, the bartender – knowledgeable, friendly and with impeccable taste – suggested something new, and every glass was a delight. Do yourself a favour: try the brandy!||||But the real unexpected luxury? The pool life guards. Now, I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world, but I’ve never encountered poolside service like this. These two gentlemen were exceptional. They didn’t just guard – they delivered towels to our sunbeds, laid them out perfectly, adjusted our parasols for optimal shade, and checked in on us regularly. They kept everything spotless and even fetched waiters for drinks and snacks. Honestly, they were like our personal sunbed concierges. Absolute legends. 👏👏👏||||And finally… the staff. Every single person we encountered – from the front desk to the gardeners, from the buggy driver to the waitstaff – made us feel valued and welcome. Not just “polite” welcome – but genuinely cared for. Waitstaff remembered my dietary needs, another noticed I was scratching a mosquito bite and appeared with spray (hello intuitive excellence), and the chef even sent out surprise desserts after we’d moved inside. The same waitress tracked us down just to deliver them. 🤍||||As someone who has trained customer service teams and worked silver service myself, I don’t say this lightly: Villa Cortine’s team are a masterclass in 5-star hospitality. Not just ticking boxes – they deliver heart, detail, and magic.||||We don’t usually return to the same place twice, but we’re already planning our next visit. The car park may be full of Ferraris and Bentleys, but we’re just regular hard-working people – and we were treated like royalty.||||Thank you, Villa Cortine, for an unforgettable stay. Every single member of your team deserves a bonus and a standing ovation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This review has to take into account that this is a Relais & Chateaux hotel so my comments are against the very high expectations of this hotel/restaurant collection.||The hotel is a spacious building in lovely gardens. Our room was large as was the bathroom. Staff are very friendly and helpful and there are a remarkable number of them.||Breakfast is excellent and the meals at the 'Bistrot' are good. We didn't try the gourmet restaurant - the menu was a bit idiosyncratic - and the BBQ near the beach was a little disappointing. However the 'village' is only a five minute walk away and it contains a number of good restaurants.||If one is arriving on a traffic closure day (Saturdays particularly) you have to arrive before 2.00pm or after 5.00pm. This clashes somewhat with the 3.00pm earliest check-in time. Driving through the village is somewhat nerve wracking.||But the one real issue the hotel has - and the reason I can give it only three stars - concerns internet access. The hotel wifi is virtually non-existant; often my devices (top of the range Samsung & Dell ones) did not even connect and if they did the broadband speed was poor (~2Mbps). And, despite Vodafone Italy's 5G being very strong in the village (~400Mbps, ~200 metres away) it was only reasonable (~20Mbps outdoors, 5-15Mbps indoors) at the hotel. The upshot was that, to do the things I needed to do - read The Times, download emails etc. - I had to use my phone as a mobile hotspot. Luckily my Vodafone arrangement gives me 25GB per month in the EU so I was OK but for some it could be a problem.

The rating takes into account the cost of the hotel along with the expectation I had for the stay. The positives of the hotel: the grounds and hotel itself are amazing, the breakfast and setting is definitely 10/10, and the jetty by the lake was stunning. The negatives: the service was very disappointing from start to finish, they were massively understaffed and we had to wait every morning for at least 5 minutes to order a coffee and the staff were never to be seen again to order anything else, we paid for a lake view for our honeymoon which we did not get. There is no gym which you would expect from a 5 star hotel, the rooms have very poor sound proofing as we could hear other guests use the bathroom, the WIFI is virtually non existent! We have just moved across the lake to another hotel and the service has been twice as good and the hotel is cheaper in cost.

I’m speechless just thinking about my recent stay at Villa Cortine Palace. The pictures don’t do it justice. This hotel is stunning and the service is the best I have ever experienced. From the second we arrived at the hotel we were completely looked after. There are a dozen different places to sit and eat or read or just relax. The grounds are extremely expansive. It looks like a park. This is absolutely the best place to stay in Sirmione, without a doubt. Every detail is looked after, including mid-day room refresh and turn-down service at night. The breakfast is wonderful, and the bar is stunning. Every cocktail we ordered was perfect— and I am very particular about my martinis. All of the staff were a delight to interact with. The drive up to the hotel was a real experience, but we had done our research and were prepared. If the main entryway has the arm down, just hit the buzzer and tell them you are staying at the hotel. You will get a card and they will open the gates— keep this card to get out again. I think we handed it to the valet and then got it back at the end of our stay. You literally have to drive through the castle gates and then through the tiny city streets, including through a few arched stone passageways. There will likely be a lot of tourists, but don’t panic. People move out of the way. We had a larger-sized Audi Q3, and easily fit through all the streets. Follow the street signs (blue and white arrows) and watch for the red traffic lights (I think there were two sets), as they prevent oncoming traffic from moving at the same time— there is no room to pass. My husband and I had the greatest stay here and we were so glad that we chose this hotel.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon and it was an absolute dream. The grounds are gorgeous, the food is unique and delicious and the room was clean and spacious. My only very minor complaint is that I wish the service was a little better by the beach to order snacks & drinks. Highly recommend.

Villa Cortine is truly a stunning property with breathtaking landscapes and a unique, historic charm. The gardens and views over Lake Garda are absolutely beautiful, making the whole experience feel special and timeless. The rooms, while elegant, do reflect the older style of the villa, which adds to the charm but might not be for everyone. One thing to note—there are quite a lot of flying bugs, especially in the warmer months, so it’s best to keep the doors and windows shut. Overall, a memorable stay in a very special place.

Yelp
Villa Cortine is a breathtaking place. It's a must stay if you are visiting Lake Garda. You have to drive through a small town with narrow streets to get to the property, but from the moment they open the gates to the Villa you feel like you got transported to an ancient Roman garden. The Villa itself looks historical and surreal. The property is very big and will take your breath away-beautiful flowers, lash grass, old trees-all surrounded by old little buildings, structures, ponds and statues. The location is perfect- right on the lake with it's own jetty and beach. The hotel has several bars and restaurants. We tried them all and both the decor and the food were absolutely the best. The complimentary breakfast buffet had the true five star selection-berries and tropical fruit, large selection of honey, cheeses, yoghurt and dozens of freshly baked pastries; not to mention the delicious coffee. The lunches and dinners were expectedly pricey but also very delicious. The room overlooked the lake and you could also see the Sirmion Castle towers. The customer service was top notch. The private parking was very convenient and they provided shuttle service into town or throughout the property. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Ah Villa Cortine. Without a doubt one of the best hotels in the entire of Italy (Well Lake Garda at least) Nestled right at the tip of Sirmione overlooking the lake is the picturesque historical and unforgettable Villa Cortine. It is most likely my favorite hotel in the entire world. Luxurious and reminiscent of times past, the Villa Cortine will sweep you off your feet with it's romantic gardens and waterfalls, precious buildings and beautiful rooms. None others compare to this. The decor is beyond breathtaking with painstakingly created murals, authentic roman statues and gilded chairs. The piano player is delightful and everything about this hotel will make you feel like a participant in a fairy tale. Their breakfast buffets are also amazing. The hungry kitten says: Do not forget to feed the little birds at breakfast, they will hop onto your table and sing to you!

Yelp
Breathtaking property both grounds and rooms. Amazing staff ( Massimo, Alessio, Frederico, Marco, Manhut ) and service. Excellent restaurants - our best meals were here. We've stayed in all the fine hotels over the last four weeks of travel in Italy and France and this has been our entire families absolute favorite. Tip: organize a boat in advance to have more options for time / type.

Yelp
Do not go. We saved this for the last week of our trip, thinking it looked like a very special place. They claim discounted rates so if you stay for 7 nights, you will only be charged for 6. However upon check out, they refused to honor their own advertisements. I'm simply shocked. This extra 1000 dollars was certainly a blow, but how horrible to lie to your guests. I have screen shots of the website clearly stating book 7 nights and 1 is free. I asked them to correct the bill and they refused. They would not give us our car keys until i signed their incorrect bill slip. The said they would not honor the discount because i had called them to discuss the reservation and provide my credit card details over the phone rather than use their unsecured website. They literally held us there by holding our keys until we signed! I couldn't believe it. They already had my card details from check-in and the initial reservation. We never would have hung in there with this stay had we known how horribly they would treat us. We wanted to leave early on. It turns out they claim to discount the hotel on their site because it is a horrible time of year to visit. We experienced complete white-outs on multiple days due to "humidity". We couldn't see the lake it was so thick. If you check an air quality report on the web, it's red flagged, so it's unsafe to go out and breath the air due to so much pollution. They lie to you and claim it's "humidity". The bugs are simply unbearable. We ended up eating our meals in our room to keep away from the swarming gnats and mosquitoes after trying to tough it out the first few days. Ordering in is nice once in a while, but multiple meals a day for a week? I'm so disappointed, and I have to say I will never be back. They ruined our vacation. I feel robbed of my time and my money. I left in tears. The property itself is pretty and images online are accurate. It's too bad the management operating the property are such complete ...
