"Contemporary Art in Villa Croce As most of the museums in Genoa focus on art of the Middle Ages and/or Renaissance, it is nice every now and then to find options that feel slightly more 'modern'. Head to the Villa Croce (just a 15 minute walk from the old town) for the interesting juxtaposition of contemporary art installations in a very historical building. If you come on a Sunday, the visit is free - and you can also see all the dogs of Genoa enjoying a morning outing in the park that surrounds the Villa. Don't miss the upstairs gallery space - the exhibit by Jackie Saccoccio is breathtaking."

The Villa Croce Museum of Contemporary Art is a relatively small museum, but worth a visit. The museum is housed in a pretty villa surrounded by a beautiful public park with a wonderful view of the Mediterranean Sea (and of a generally uninteresting shore-side part of the city below), in a quiet but lovely residential area on a seaside hill. At the time of our visit, the had two lovely exhibitions. One was a (photo)graphic exhibition by Giorgio Musinu and Giacomo Costa. The other were short films by Pamela Breda. Both were interesting, well made, reflective, society-relevant and thought-provoking. I include some photo’s, but will remove them at their first request. There is no shop or café.

Bit far off the beaten tourist path. Would be a nice location for a museum of contemporary art. Pity that the gardens and building are in desperate need of maintenance. The museum was closed when we visited on a normal Saturday morning.

Poor exhibition. The museum doesn't show any great art. It's just some pictures. You have seen it in 10 minutes. The rest has been closed for 5 years. Not worth going. It's sad they don't mention this on the site. I was really disappointed.

would NOT recommend a visit if you don’t speak Italian or are only in Genova for a short time. Me and my partner arrived and were immediately disappointed that the permanent exhibition was closed despite no mention of this online. All that was left to see was an unnecessary abundance of posters relating to one poet, none of which had an English translation. There were a few collages alongside this, none of which were particularly memorable and definitely not worth the €5 entry.

the second worst museum i have visited the first one is fondazione Prada. The employee didn't know english ....in 2023 he didn't know english. The permanent collection was not available to the public and there is no announcement from the museum about it. When I protested he told me that the museum was open and I could see the periodical exhibition of Italian poems. I traveled so many kilometers to read Italian poems, without knowing Italian. All of them unacceptable.

Free and open on the weekends, it’s worth popping in to this cute museum 💗

It took me 2 hours to get here! The museum is officially open, but I found the door closed,. That’s just Italy!!!!

Unfriendly and unhelpful. Even though entry is free for under 18s they would not allow our 12 year old to enter because he admitted he needed to use the toilet.
