My husband and I enjoyed a quick overnight in the Venetian room to celebrate our anniversary. What a special place in the heart of Lincoln Park! The decor, the amenities, the hospitality... there is so much thoughtfulness put into everything in this bed and breakfast, and we look forward to going back again. Also, Gina is so nice and hospitable. The Italian breakfast was delicious, and all the food had such great quality. Definitely check this place out!

The most incredible B&B I’ve ever stayed at and I travel a lot. I brought my daughter for a get away the night before her surgery. We are still in awe of the accommodations ! This place is IMPRESSIVE! The entire home was exceptionally clean, welcoming and comfortable. We loved the roof top hot tub! The bedding was heavenly which allowed us to get a good nights sleep. We partook in the welcome snacks & desserts! Breakfast was also delicious! The food was simply divine! The owners put a lot of time into the details that made our stay one of the most memorable. We lucked out with parking right out front as well. We will be back! Thank you for all you do!

We had a wonderful stay on our visit to Chicago. Highly recommend the Grand Tuscon suite (especially for the private marble jacuzzi, which was just as beautiful as shown in the photos). The rooms were spacious and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel/b&b beds I've slept in. The open kitchen / available food was a nice touch to start our day or finish our night with quick snack. Self check in was seamless and it wasn't difficult at all to settle in thanks to the clear instructions / contact with the host. The neighborhood is very walkable with multiple coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Overall if you're looking for a luxurious stay that's away from the noise/bustle of downtown -> this will definitely hit the mark.

I will never stay anywhere else again!! Perfect location in Lincoln Park! Our room was clean, cozy and had everything we needed. The bonus? The kitchen!!!! Breakfast was amazing, and the snacks and treats you can help yourself to are just over the top!! Gina (owner) does the cooking and she’s a delight!! So personable and wants to make sure your stay is perfect! I can’t say enough - if I could give this 100 stars I would!! We will be back!

We spent the long 4th of July weekend at the Villa D'Citta B&B. It was fabulous in every way. We had stayed for a a long weekend in 2024 and it seemed every better this time. We had the Grand Tuscan Suite as my 25-year old daughter traveled to Chicago with me and my husband. The highlights included: meeting Gina for two of the mornings as she prepared breakfast, the food, and the suite. The Villa is beautifully decorated and our suite was no exception. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was awesome. The size accommodated all three of us at the same time. One could shower, while another used the toilet. The vanity had 2 sinks and a long mirror. We also met some fabulous people who were also staying there. I believe it is the very best place to stay in Chicago. Thank you Don & Gina for hosting us.

Villa D’Citta is a great place to spend a long weekend for a family wedding. The host was very communicative with me and great with updates on the daily breakfast specials. The staff was helpful and the food was great. I recommend spending the little extra money and reserve a parking spot. Will be spending some time there again.

This was our second time at the villa and we plan to come back again. We stayed in the Capone room. Previously we stayed in the Cesar room. The location is great. Such a beautiful neighborhood, close to the beach, the park, the L train. We felt so welcome. The interiors are beautiful. The food was great. We even went in the hot tub. Definitely recommend!

Villa D'Citta Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful mansion located within walking distance to De Paul and Halsted St. restaurants. The house looks like a new Italian Villa. Our 4th floor room was stunning! It was comfortable, quiet, and immaculate. The 4th floor is only 2 flights of stairs above the main floor, but an elevator is available. We booked one of the two spaces in the the garage behind the villa and had no problem fitting our mini van alongside another guest's van. The garage was also immaculate. The main floor has a spacious living room and kitchen/dining area. The host provides loads of food and drink for whenever you care to partake. Lots of breakfast items are available in the morning. We will definately visit again next time we are in the area.

Yelp
We experienced an amazing three nights in the Venetian Suite at Villa D' Citta. This was our first visit. This historic building was built in the late 1800's. It has been updated and featured beautiful furnishings and artwork. Don, who is the owner, was a gracious and proud host. He makes the check-in process easy and sends guests daily updates via text.. Although a continental breakfast was provided each day, a cook prepared breakfast tacos and tortillas our first two mornings. Both were very tasty. The kitchen is available around the clock if you want to make a panni sandwich. They also had housemade lasagna in the refrigerator for a quick 2-minute reheating in the microwave. Our charming unit is probably one of the smallest in the building, but it was perfect for us, as we were visiting relatives nearby. It included a bed, desk, bath and fireplace. It did have an outdoor patio and direct access to the complex's hot tub. The unit's shower is in the hallway near the front door, not in the bath itself. That was odd, but we made it work. Staying in late February, our $189 night rate was extremely fair for what we received. We plan to return soon.

Yelp
Nothing bad to say! In a word, Incredible!! Villa do Citta is a gem of a place tucked in Lincoln Park but a place everyone should visit. Gorgeous mansion with beautiful and unique rooms and perfect touches from nibble bath in the room to espresso, a self-serve kitchen, homemade breakfast in the morning, jacuzzi and fire pit outside and above their private garden, homemade panna cotta, Italian ice and so much more. Rich in history and culture. This place is a must visit whether out of town or living two blocks away. Terrific staycation spot! A special Thank you to the owner Don, who was extremely gracious, hospitable and made every minute of our stay memorable. We will be back!

Yelp
Amazing accommodations, unparalleled amenities, and attentive staff made our stay here perfect in every way!

Yelp
Stayed in the Florencia and the Milan. Both were on the 4th floor. There was a choice between a small elevator and stairs. Each room had unique amenities. For example the Florencia was a large room with 2 queen beds and a view of the patio and spa area. The afternoon sun hit the room, but the host kept the temp cool and comfortable. It had a nice seating area with plenty of room to relax and enjoy. Had good counter space and plenty of places to store your stuff. The Milan had a big king bed and a full size bed. It was smaller, but still had a nice seating area. The window coverings were curtains instead of blinds, which was nice. Had nice closet space. We did not meet the host in person but did communicate via phone and text when needed. We met Edith and Rosa, both of which were friendly. It felt like we were staying at a relatives home. It was like a home away from home. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I had a mini wedding here champagne and cake only but it was so wonderful I also stayed here for two nights. The owner was so accommodating she help me make a micro wedding during Covid so lovely. She went above and beyond she help me take the cake out of the box she steam my dress when it was wrinkled anything we need as she tried to help it was a wonderful wonderful weekend and I highly recommend this place it's a beautiful quaint charming little European gem hiding in Lincoln park.

Yelp
Words can not begin describe my 2 night stay in this amazingly iconic and magical retreat... I'm reffering to it as a retreat because I didn't have to leave... I could have stayed put and been totally satisfied and completely rejuvenated by the time I left... I call it magical... Because this place LITERALLY takes you back in time... The architecture... The ambiance... Down to the names of the some of the rooms refferencing "capone" an original Chicago mobster...that I'm SURE Has stayed at this place a few times! It is absolutely reminiscent of a time long ago... The stories these walls hold... I can only imagine... the details are elegantly EVERYWHERE... I kept finding things that caught my eye making me question what the purpose for it was 100yrs ago... There's an amazing tunnel window above the copper kitchen sinks with stained glass at the end of it... You can see the walls are over a foot thick... The fireplaces... Adorned with marble... The wrought iron arched doorway in the entrance... The elevator... Small but purposeful...after a bottle of wine the stairs are daunting... But even the stairs...are beautiful. I stayed in the "Milan" suite... It had thee most beautiful comforting king sized pillared canopy bed... The accents amazing.... Complete with a biography of Mc Jagger on the fireplace mantel... And let me just say...the fireplace was perfect for warming up on this chilly day...last night was colder and it was just what I NEEDED while enjoying an amazing glass of wine (And for my own personal budior' photo shoot) the service from the host AMAZING! Thank you brook for all your assistance... especially the Bike! Getting to use the house bikes (*Trek cruisers) to tour my city and go lakefront... Better then those rentals... And also for answering every question with such kind and concise explanations... Such a patient and sweet young woman! I appreciate her check ins with me to verify I was settled... And made sure I knew where everything was... So very attentive! The kitchen bring available was such a nice touch! The thoughtful snacks... Which came in handy a few times! This place needs to be marked a historical landmark if it hasn't already... The architecture is just amazing...along with all wood work. I look forward to staying again! And having a party or 2 or 3... since you can actually rent the whole building!

Yelp
Caesar's Lair Don't book the Caesar's Lair unless you like sleeping in a morgue, It's freezing and no natural light. We paid $395 per night to stay in a dungeon-like room. The main entry is right above so you hear everyone walking in and out on a hardwood floor. If you are here on a Monday there is no breakfast prepared, also no personalized custom breakfast as advertised on hotels.com it's dry eggs, bland potatoes and greasy bacon and terrible coffee. The elevator has been broken since at least July so plan on hauling your luggage up the stairs, so ADA guests are out of luck. It would be great if they invested in some pillows instead of buying more antiques. Now the positive, beautiful historic home in a great neighborhood. Bottom line don't book a room on hotel.com, call the facility direct and inquire about the room you are booking. $395 a night is way to much for this place.

Yelp
We stayed here for the first time while moving our daughter out of her dorm at DePaul and we will most definitely keep coming back! Don handled our reservation and explained that we'd have to move rooms after a few nights due to our last minute booking so we stayed in both the Capone room and the Milan. They were both extremely clean, comfortable, spacious and well furnished, and the staff was more than happy to move our things for us while we were busy at the dorms. The kitchen, and all day access to coffee, water and snacks (meals, really), was just incredible! After spending many cramped up visits in a hotel room downtown in the past it was a pure pleasure to be able to hang out on the rooftop patio, downstairs patio, front room or dining room and feel right at home. They had a huge selection of breakfast foods, along with meats and cheeses, breads, fresh ground coffee and cold water available at all times. And the location really couldn't be better, it's close to pretty much everything in Lincoln Park and an easy walk to the El to get downtown. Everyone who works there is friendly, helpful and very accommodating. We loved this place and will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
Please read our checking in notes. This B& B is 5 stars for its people, hi Cathy , as well as it's attention to details. Caio for now.

Yelp
Drop dead gorgeous place with attention to every detail. I really appreciate that in lodging. We were very comfortable. The design and decor of the Villa are impeccable. The Grand Tuscan suite was large enough and perfect for our party of 4. And that bathroom is straight out of the most luxury home with deluxe steam shower, jetted tub and candle light... The bed and pillows were also very comfortable. Lincoln Park - super cool neighborhood! Tons of restaurants, small businesses, stimulating architecture and foliage to feast your eyes on. It was a little far from from downtown area if that's where you're going every day. The Uber's got expensive. The all hours access to Belgian waffles, fresh baked cookies, drinks, bagels, yogurt, fruit, fresh berries, meats cheeses and other toppings for DIY paninis was so nice. Sometimes you're just too tired to venture out for a snack. The people - one of the things I love about staying at a B & B are the people you meet around the communal breakfast table. We had some nice conversations. Only complaint: we slept fantastic the first three nights until what sounded like 20 people checked in above us and were stomping around till midnight and up early in the morning. Bad sleeps the last 2 nights :(. Not the Villa's fault just a bummer. We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This review is for 2019. I stayed here with two gfs for our friend's bday. It was a girl's get-away trip. The place was pretty and clean from what I can remember. This review is really about the host. I believe her name was CATHY. She was absolutely rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. The reason why this review is so late, is because I do not believe in posting bad reviews, esp about another human being, unless it really is BAD. The fact that I remember it after a couple years, I still feel disgusted by the host and I decided on writing a review. We asked Cathy during our stay if we were the only ones in the house at the moment, only because it was so quiet and we were simply just wondering. She rudely answered "why? are you going to be loud??" We are respectful professionals in our 30's. She again spoke to us with attitude later when we did not do anything to provoke such inhospitality. Our trip should have been discounted after encountering such a disrespectful host/director. Hopefully things have changed and she had some sort of counseling or picked a different career.

Yelp
Had a great stay at Villa D Citta in the picturesque Lincoln Park neighborhood. Very central location, with walkable restaurants and boutiques. We stayed in the very comfortable Grand Tuscan suite where attention to detail was evident, especially in the bathroom which boasts a spa tub and steam shower. Very relaxing... Cathy is a gem and is very attentive to all the guests needs. A definite asset to the property! Breakfast was substantial and tasty. Coffee fantastic! We hope to return soon to this city oasis!!

Yelp
Villa D' Citta is in a beautiful old building in the Lincoln Park area. The decor is nice (a bit formal, but it fits with the style of the building), and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast is solid (some items are prepared in advance for you, and some are do-it-yourself; I recommend making a waffle for yourself with the provided batter), and the panini maker is very handy. There's also a courtyard and a hot tub, although as it turned out we didn't use either one due to the weather and our schedule. Our third-floor room was very quiet, and the bed was comfy. Cookies are made daily for the guests. On the down-side, the air conditioning was set too high throughout the property, especially in the bedrooms. And since there's no thermostat in the room, you have to ask the staff to adjust it. The room itself had no table or chairs for writing or using the computer, the wi-fi was slow, and the room was kind of rough around the edges. For example, there were exposed holes in the drywall where the TV wires/cables came in, there were no shelves in the wall-mounted cabinets, the bathroom tile had disintegrated in one spot, the bathroom door squeaked horribly, and in several places wood trim pieces were missing or broken. They also use cheap single-ply toilet paper, which was kind of shocking for a high-end B&B. In addition, there was no decaf coffee (even though we requested it the day before), and the OJ was from concentrate. Overall, I'd rate them 3.5 stars. Not quite the top-notch experience we've had elsewhere, but with some repairs here and there, and a few improved amenities, this could easily be a 4 star B&B.

Yelp
The building is gorgeous and really a treat to see. However, the service could have certainly been better. For example, they've got this absolutely beautiful kitchen and represent that there are provisions for guests to make their own gourmet breakfast, however all there was were 2 day old donuts, FROM concentrate OJ, some eggs and bread. Where were the wonderful pastries and muffins they suggested? Fruit? Juice that is at least as good as what I already stock in my own fridge? Also, when we got there we were hoping to take a nap, but they had "just installed" a surround sound system and wanted to "test" it. Well, do they really need to test the system at full volume for half an hour while we're trying to take a nap? I imagine they can confirm the system works by simply watching it at normal volume so it's not like the speakers are also set up next to our bed. Again, very beautiful. Would even consider trying again. But, rather disappointed because the service level did not near to match the setting.

Yelp
I wanted to allow a few weeks to settle prior to writing a review for this place because I truly intend to be at a clear state of mind when providing this honest feedback. My Wife and I had a birthday party at Villa D'Citta on 12/3/2016. To be clear, my wife negotiated directly with the grounds keeper (Cathy) and my involvement was limited until the day prior. Cathy was kind enough to allow us to drop things off the day prior in preparation for the event. I was unaware how difficult this was for her because from her perspective, we were essentially using space without paying for it. However, as an adult, I would have expected Cathy to clearly state that this was not allowed instead of providing permission of this to occur -followed by complaining to me and others about it. Cathy was impossible to work with. Below is a list of things she did despite taking my hard earned money: 1. The day of the party, she was very reluctant to allow us to move furniture - although she committed to allowing this when showing the space. 2. After Cathy's complaints about the storage room, I offered to pay for using the space, and she declined. Instead of letting this go, she continued to complain. 3. Cathy repeatedly informed me that we were "lucky" to rent the space "at a steal"...making me feel that she was unhappy with the agreed upon rate. She made comments like this in front of the vendors making me feel ashamed that my wife negotiated the price. 4. Cathy yelled at our day of coordinator, in front of other vendors, for using the elevator without asking her for permission. At this point, I pulled Cathy to the side and asked her to redirect concerns to me and refrain from speaking inappropriately with the vendors. Essentially, our vendors were committed to turning-over the room prior to the arrival of our guests yet, when attempting to be proactive, Cathy challenged them. 5. Cathy was obstructive in our efforts to get the first floor setup prior to our guests' arrival. She did not want us to move any of the furniture; she insisted that she could move the furniture despite her limited mobility. This added unnecessary stress because we had limited time to setup before our guests arrival. 6. I overheard Cathy complaining to guests staying at the B&B that our party was poorly managed. 7. Cathy threatened to charge me for incidentals if anything were to break multiple times (I understand charging for incidentals is normal however, please do not remind your guests multiple times). I felt like a child being chastised. To be even more clear, we not only paid to reserve the first floor, we also paid to rent the Milan room overnight. We invested in great vendors and were very happy with the service that they provided. I was however, ashamed with the way that Cathy treated them. There is a comment on this page by a vendor of mine and it saddens me to know that Cathy - the grounds-keeper, who's main objective is to make sure that everyone feels welcomed, would offend him. The icing on the cake is, despite the constant complaints that Cathy had regarding us moving the furniture, I went over and beyond to make sure EVERY item in that B&B returned to its original state (if not better). My Wife and I mopped the floors, cleaned the walls (of stains from a prior event) and took out the garbage. The property is beautiful, however the service does it no justice.

Yelp
From start to finish Villa d' Citta was impeccable. Cathy met us at the villa for check in and gave us the grand tour. She also answered our questions about local dining and attractions. The room was wonderful, we enjoyed some time stargazing on the back deck and slept great. In the morning we were treated to waffles that we requested and a wonderful pizza. We walked to the Lincoln Park Zoo the following day(about a 10 minute walk) Even though check out was at 11, Cathy made it clear that we were welcome to stop back into the villa for refreshments and sandwiches throughout the day. We will surely be returning. Thanks Cathy!

Yelp
What a wonderful place! The rooms were amazing and very clean. Snacks in the fabulous kitchen/dining area 24 seven and fresh fruit, wine and sandwiches whenever you desire. If you miss the breakfast, you can still have breakfast. Great location in Lincoln Park, with lots of restaurants and bars. Only a short walk to the L if you're going to Wrigley to catch a Cubs game. Kathy the manager was very nice and explained everything about our stay. Plus they have a garage and a hot tub, absolutely fantastic. we will definitely stay here on our next trip to Chicago! Thanks again for a fabulous stay Chuck and Sue!!

Yelp
Wonderfully romantic and intimate. Breakfast was awesome in the mornings and Cathy was really sweet and a wonderful hostess. We stayed in the Caesar's Liar, which was an awesome room; however, the water pressure in the shower was less than desirable. All the guests that stayed in the B&B were very friendly and respectful and I really enjoyed dining with them in the mornings. Loved that I could get cold bottle water at any time of the day, especially since I drink TONS! The biggest downside for me was that there were two different wedding parties that checked in the night before we left. They had the attitude "I just got married - it's all about me," which was really annoying and exceptionally disrespectful. They were running around upstairs, blasting music, and just making tons of noise at 3 or 4am. Totally unacceptable. Noisy and inconsiderate people can be found at any hotel, but when only about 3 or 4 couples are staying under one roof, a common courtesy is expected. However, that is not the B&B fault, and it makes it a little difficult for Cathy to monitor, since she does not stay on site during the evening. However, I did enjoy my time here and definitely would consider trying it again when I come back to Chicago.

Yelp
We cannot say enough about this place! This is our "Go To" place for our stay-cation getaways. We have spent many nights here and have stayed in almost every room they have. There isn't one that doesn't rate a 10 in our book. If you get a chance, this is a MUST STAY when visiting Chicago. There is truly no other place like this!

Victoria O.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I made an impromptu trip to Chicago on a Tuesday night. We found a good deal on this place online and decided to stay. I will say that the pictures online make the rooms seem bigger than they really are, but the place is beautiful. We paid for the garage and had a really hard time finding it in the back. The reason I was upset with our time spent here is because it is a bed and breakfast. We were told that breakfast was from 8:30-10:00 am and that there would be someone there in the morning to make us a hot breakfast. We came down the next morning at 9:30 to someone smoking cigarettes and yelling on the phone on the back patio. Patiently waited for her to get done only for her to practically run past us and go to the basement. There was no breakfast. Not even a continental. No cereal. Nothing. Check out was at 11:00 so when we realized there was no one there to make us a hot breakfast as promised we went and got our things together. When we came back downstairs to return the keys and garage key there was the woman again sitting on the front door step back on her phone and smoking again so we just left them on the desk. BEAUTIFUL PLACE, But they didn't hold up to their promises and we left a little hungry and disappointed.

Yelp
This B and B is old world Italian, which I love. You feel like it is your home, Kitchen is stocked and you treat it as it is your own. I went to dinner 2 blocks down at Cafe Ba Ba Reba and it was Awsome! Ralph was my greeter, and I feel like he is my friend now. I will be back for sure.

Yelp
I stayed here for two nights in the beginning of March in the Venetian room. The location of the Villa is perfect. There is public transportation a short walk away, plenty of great stores around to browse, and also nice bars with weekday deals around the corner. We loved the walk out to the hot tub and patio that the Venetian room offers. The B&B was in great condition and very clean! We also had the opportunity to talk with one of the other guests one night in the kitchen/ tv area which was very nice. This is a great B&B and there is a reason that it has such a high rating on Yelp.

Yelp
This place is a magical oasis in the heart of Lincoln Park. We stayed 2 nights in the basement rooms. They were less expensive but nothing short of wonderful. Breakfast was gourmet! Felt like a high-end cafe with homemade peach cobbler Sunday and French toast Saturday. The hot tub is a nice bonus! Kathy was warm and friendly. Very clean and very luxurious. I will spread the word!

Yelp
WoW!!! This Villa is amazing with a great hostess Cathy who is knowledgeable about the surrounding area & went above a beyond our expectations as a hostess (yes it was that AMAZING!). This Villa is everything a B&B should be & even more amenities then ANY B&B I have EVER been to!! We were in the Florente room for New years eve through Jan 2nd. We had a beautiful fire place, french doors to outside to look out a get a whole view of the grounds, amenities like hot tub, pool, lounge area, spiral staircase, got garage parking but act quick they only hv a garage cover for 2 vehicles & my car is garage kept (although free parking EVERYWHERE) everything is walking distance or UBER (very fair prices, it was shocking), so you don't have to pay so much for parking everywhere. The food is amazing, Breakfast on Saturday was divine with homemade baked french toast that was out of this world scrumptious as well as their own special blend coffee made ONLY for their Villa brewing coffee, for tea drinkers lots of different tea's & even lose tea with the tea ball (such a bonus), 24 hr kitchen open to use for making something to eat in their well stocked kitchen with food, I made some great panni's & several imported meat & cheese from Italy as well as fresh bread from a local bakery. Lots of fresh fruit, juices. tea, homemade fresh cookies that are soo soft & things to munch on that is all for us guests. The wine was a nice touch a winery actually makes them a specialty wine just for them as well which I find very, very, very classy! It is so nice for people that may be coming back from a long day & just want to put their feet up & a nice glass of red wine. I'm not much of a wine drinker or drinker at all anymore but we did hv a glass because it's from a Winery that makes them barrels of a special blend especially for the B&B. We will be back to see Cathy, we had a lot in common, she is so well rounded but next time I want to add something to add to the breakfast buffet Kathy??? We want exact same room next time & then summer the Venetian room. ( I think that's the name of the room). Until we meet again Cathy arrivederci!!! :) This Villa would get better then a 5 if I could rate higher.

Yelp
Always a great place to get away from the busy life. The service is great and the rooms just get better by time. It's like wine longer it gets better it is. Oh and the food is to die for. If u haven't been here u need to come. There's not enough stars to rate this place. I been at the trump towers and this place blows it away.

Chris G.

Yelp
Fabulous stay in the Milan Suite. Cathy is a pro and we so enjoyed getting to know her. The Villa is gorgeous, ideal location in Lincoln Park, fabulous breakfast and a stocked kitchen to enjoy when you need a snack. We were only sorry we couldn't stay longer! We're so over "chain" hotels and try to seek boutique and unique locations when we travel - this was the best. We'll definitely return and thanks for your hospitality.

Yelp
My review is actually two reviews in one. My wife and I stayed at this bed and breakfast last weekend as a last getaway before our son is born. We stayed in the Venetian suite for two nights and Capone's Cantina the final night. First, the bed and breakfast overall...it is beautiful. The service was great. The location is great. Onto the rooms. Our stay in the Venetian Suite was wonderful. The room has a really cool setup and has an outdoor sitting area right outside the bedroom. It also has direct access to the hot tub! The only complaint we had about this room was that the Wifi was not working properly at times and was very slow other times. I would rate this room 4.5 stars and would definitely stay there again. However, our stay Capone's Cantina was not quite so enjoyable. It is in the basement directly under the kitchen/hang out area. The ceiling is absolutely not sound proof. We could hear every footstep and conversation that was being had above us. We were kept up until between 1 and 2 am because of this noise and were woken up by kitchen noise around 6 am. I would absolutely never stay in this room again. I would rate my stay in this room about 1.5 stars. Overall, Cathy the service coordinator was a pleasure to deal with and was very accommodating and did offer us free bike rentals and a future discount due to our disappointing stay in Capone's Cantina. I wish she would have refunded us the entire amount of our final night's stay...it was that bad.

Yelp
Place is nice. I'll give it that. I am a chef who was hired by someone having a party of 50 people there. The inn keeper lady was the rudest, most inhospitable person EVER. I called ahead and made sure I could use the kitchen and she said it was no problem. Then every time I used one of "her pans" or pieces of equipment (acted like they were hers even though she isn't the owner) she complained. Really? So...my customers who rented place out and informed the place that there would be a chef on site isn't allowed to use the pans? Well, needless to say, I used them anyway! Had I known I wasn't allowed, I'd have brought all my own stuff. She also gave my customers who were wonderful people a hard time no matter WHAT they tried to do to accommodate their guests. Whether moving furniture around, accommodating the bartenders etc. She was also rude to the event planner who was amazing (best I've seen) and the servers. She whined and moaned several times about how she'd done weddings there that were easier than this party. When I loaded my food in, she hadn't even cleared up counter space on the kitchen. She said she'd do it...but she had to sit and stuff her face first. The funniest part? Even though she's the innkeeper in charge of overseeing events, she was passed out snoring like a bear on the downstairs couch for like three hours during the party. Must be nice to get paid to sleep. Then when sleepy time was over, she groggily came upstairs and said "Is the nightmare over?". Really? Nightmare? Um, I don't know. Did you have bad dreams during your little hibernation there my dear? Do NOT go here if you expect good service. Not to mention, as I looked in the fridge at the ingredients they used for their meals, it's all mediocre Costco/Kirkland products, boxed pancake mix, frozen orange juice concentrate. So much for an "old world style" bed and breakfast. You'd think for what they charge, they'd put some effort into the food for the guests. Make real pancakes. Use real orange juice. Unless you like being treated like a burden and flushing your money down an old world toilet, do not go here. Good luck staying in business guys. I hope the owner reads this and has a chat with his/her innkeeper.

Yelp
This place is truly a gem. We had the whole villa to ourselves as a friend rented it for her birthday celebration. We had no complaints whatsoever....the place is immaculate, Ralph and his staff is extremely helpful, and the location is great (Lincoln Park). The rooms are spacious and have all the amenities you need. Very comfy beds. And the jacuzzi....well, need I say more??? We are already making plans to go back next year!

Yelp
Villa D' Citta is a Beautiful little b&b. If you don't know where to look for it you wont find it. It's hidden pretty well in a nice cute Lincoln park neighborhood. But once inside you'll be in awe of how spacious and beautiful the place is. There are 6 rooms each distinct and luxourious. I spent some time there for a friend's birthday party and we had a blast. Not only were the accommodations wonderful, clean, and beautiful but I felt safe and welcomed by the staff and others who were staying there. There was a serious family vibe. And not in a "somebody please get your children" way that I feel in a lot of places I stay. I know some people may be turned off by this next point but I loved it. You get to (have to) cook your own food! They will put whatever u want in the fridge and you cook it. How cool is that! Best part is someone else comes by and cleans up after you! For those of you who don't cook there are a pleathora of restaurants and bars close by so even if they won't cook for you another place within walking distance will. All in all I loved this place and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Loved it. So cozy and enjoyable. They really make you feel at home, the bedrooms are absolutely gorgeous, and the kitchen and back patio are amazing. The homemade breakfast and cookies are delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone, it makes any visit to Chicago much more personal and special. Also, Kathy is a sweet heart!

Yelp
Great place to stay in Chicago! Beautiful bed & breakfast in Lincoln park next to hundreds of bars clubs and music venues. The staff was extremely hospitable and welcoming. (not stuck up) the kitchen was amazing and open to everyone in the B&B.

Yelp
This place was absolutely amazing! The old georgian style B&B has really been updated and turned into one the most beautiful places I've ever stayed. We stayed in the Milan Suite and it was a great place to sleep after a night of Lou Malnati's and Blue Man Group (both within walking distance). The service was great. We got the wrong key for our room originally, and the caretaker quickly exchanged keys and personally went upstairs to verify it was the right one this time. After Blue Man Group, we returned to the B&B and stayed up late in the downstairs living area in front of the fire drinking and laughing. We could not find the TV remote, and when the caretaker came through, he offered to find a replacement. In the morning, we took our time getting up, and went downstairs for breakfast. Breakfast was DIY, with all the fixings all ready to go (i.e. Belgium waffle batter was already pre-mixed and measured out to just pour on the waffle maker). We made ourselves breakfast with one other couple in this large beautiful kitchen and then packed up and checked out with no issue.

Yelp
We recently stayed here during the week of the jazz festival. What a wonderful place. Lovely rooms, comfortable beds, and delicious breakfasts! Unlike other b&b's the kitchen is always open to indulge in delightful treats or heat up your take-away from any number of local places. Steps from the park, the elevated train or any number of restaurants and shops, you feel like a local - a pampered local. The manager is well versed in all the local establishments and makes herself available to the guests - even on her day off. We shall return.

Yelp
In November, I stayed in the Ceasar's room, which is in the basement. It does not feel like a basement at all, very nice and you get a mini fridge and microwave. Cathy is as great as the other reviews say. I do wish they were more aware of what is gluten free and what is not. I had contacted them to let them know this was an allergy of mine, and it all seemed fine. While I was there, though, it was hard to get a straight answer about what was in the egg dish. I ended up boiling my own eggs, which is fine. It is pretty easy to learn about gluten allergies. But! The kitchen is great and they don't seem to mind if you use it. I would stay there again, and I hope to.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon, June 2012 - our first stay at a B&B for both of us and wow were we pleased! Friendly staff, clean rooms, yummy breakfast daily and great area to explore! We never even went into downtown Chicago. We wandered through beautiful tree lined streets and gawked at the architecture of the homes. Tried some nearby restaurants/pubs. We walked to the zoo one afternoon and walked to Wrigleyville most every day - location was divine! The only downfalls were upon arrival we had no way to get into the locked gate and had to stand outside for 10 minutes calling for someone to let us in and the hot tub was not working at the time of our stay - things we were able to overlook in the grand scheme of our romantic stay. We have recommended this gem to many friends who are all eager to book a stay and we hope to return in the near future as well!

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful rooms, kitchen, living areas and really comfy beds. Ralph the inn keeper was a huge help with reservations/recommendations. He even brought us back some white rice after learning that my parents and I had some pretty awful food poisoning from the previous hotel (in Indy.) It's in a great location as well. Minus one star because the "breakfast" part of this B&B is more like breakfast groceries that you make yourself. If that's not an issue, then I highly recommend this place!

Wes S.

Yelp
#1 Ralph is the man. #2 The bed(s) are super comfortable. #3 The hot-tub and upper deck is sweet. #4 The kitchen is fantastic...we enjoyed making our own breaky & lunch. #5 Great neighborhood. #6 Do you get the point....I can keep going. #7 Pound for pound, you won't find a better place.

Yelp
Villa D'Citta is an absolutely beautiful B&B that's a hidden gem in Chicago. Living in Chicago for 7 years I had no idea that it existed until recently. I booked the Milan Suite for 1 night the night before my friend's wedding. We LOVED the room and knew that the pictures with the photographer were going to be amazing. The next day while at hair appointments I got a call from the owner reminding me that check-out was at 11. However, I had made previous arrangments to check-out at 3. We were able to work through the mis-communication and could use the room until 3. We can't wait to see the pictures we took in the room and through out the shared space of the building. If you want a unique experience in Chicago I would suggest Villa D'Citta - you get a hotel feel while staying in a beautiful mansion that feels like home. The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Lincoln Park, close to amazing shopping and restaurants. Easy to get to by public transportation or taxi.

Yelp
I am writing this as I have fresh brewed coffee from main living room of the house and catching some morning news.... it's truly home away from home. This place is wonderful! You will be happy you stayed. We are a young professional couple who came for the Chicago half marathon and in a moment of blondeness, I had apparently made my reservation for the wknd after the race. Cathy, who is just the sweetest host, happened to have a room still open, and she put us in another room no questions asked and made us feel as welcome as ever. The accommodations are incredible. The pictures you see online are accurate, and even if 5 years old it still looks like the pictures. They have kept it up very nicely. It is true what the other reviews say about having a panini & waffle maker as well as full kitchen Access to snacks, breakfast items, fresh fruit, etc.... it is very clean, the bed is comfy and clean, etc... I read the reviews prior to coming and it's clear, that where someone has complained it's not because of Cathy or the accommodations as a few have mentioned, it's most likely that they are insatiable people, or just had some fluke thing happen (I think they call that LIFE)... As far as comments about "juice from concentrate" goes... I haven't even had the juice but the coffee creamer is organic and it's name brand, I can't imagine they are just stalking the juice with as bottom quality as they can scrape by with.... I think you might have too much time on your hands if you're worried about the make/model of orange juice. I will stay here anytime I am in Chicago. THANK YOU CATHY!

Yelp
My wife and I spent three nights at Villa d' Citta last weekend and were really impressed with the rooms and common areas, and most of all with the staff. Cathy is a gem, had a helpful answer to every question and made excellent hot breakfasts. The place is truly elegant and is nestled in a quiet street near the intersection of Halstead, Fullerton and Lincoln in the hip Lincoln Park neighborhood. We walked to two excellent restaurants nearby, and the Red Line El train was two blocks and easy, ten minute access to downtown Chicago. Highly recommend Villa d' Citta.

Yelp
Me and my fiance stayed at the Villa this past Monday-Wednesday in the Grand Tuscan Suite, which is the biggest and nicest room, which also is the most expensive, due to the size and 25-head shower room and in room Jacuzzi. The room runs around $199-399 per night. The property is beautiful, lavish, and definitely exquisite. I paid a total of $446. Now the worst part begins: I checked in Monday and i had seen that the breakfast menu, which contained pork products for Tuesday and Wednesday. I notified Cathy "The Manager", or sorry the "Accommodations Director", I was corrected by her pretty (d'gratingly), which i'll tell you in a bit, that i didn't consume pork products but for breakfast, we'd eat turkey, chicken, beef. We woke up Tuesday and when we wen't to eat breakfast, she had Luke-warm potatoes, already cooked. She made 2 scrambled eggs, and a Pre-measured waffle mix "(Belgian Waffle)" batter, something you can make at home, just add water. We said ok, we'll eat this begrudgingly in our heads. On Monday she had bananas out that were literally black on the counter. Those same bananas were on the counter when we checked out Wednesday. After breakfast on Tuesday, we went back to our room and proceeded to get cleaned up. The 25-head shower that is advertised and we paid for ran COLD in less than 10 minutes. Might i add the whole Villa was empty until Wednesday, so we had it to ourselves in theory and the water was not being used by anybody but ourselves. After the a horrible shower experience, we got dressed up and upon leaving to enjoy our day i spoke to Cathy Hartmann the "accommodations director", that the water is running cold and the shower is not working properly. She said she'd take of the problem. We came back from a day of shopping and walking around. When we came back, i asked Cathy if she had taken a look at the shower and she said yes everything is working now. I said great and thank you. So Wednesday comes around and we go downstairs to have breakfast. long story short there is no breakfast prepared at all, no fresh fruit, nothing at all. Believe me when i say this. She said would you like Belgian waffles and eggs. Whattt???!!! She knew that we would have breakfast at 9:30am each day which she said is perfect on Monday at check-in. Cathy had two days to accommodate us, yet a huge fail. We wen't back up with out even eating anything, so disappointed and let down. Isn't a Bed and Breakfast, a Bed AND BREAKFAST??? SO BAD. So when we come back in our room, we figured we can utilize the Jacuzzi and shower. Well come to find out the shower heads are not working, the water ran cold again in less than 10 minutes. I am shocked by now. I called Cathy upstairs to our room, asked her to feel the water, and told her this was less than 10 minutes of using the shower and Jacuzzi. She was trying to make every excuse saying how this works, this is a fluke, telling me i don't know how to use the shower, which i showed her how to and it was the proper way. She mentioned how my room i was staying in was used last Saturday 21st of February, 2015 and how the room was trashed and the Jacuzzi was used and left dirty, and she said she knew it worked because the Jacuzzi was dirty before i arrived and they had to clean it. Who the F==k says that to a customer staying there??? She said how could i make this right. I said she was the manager, she would know. Because i mentioned to Cathy all the above discretion's . She stopped me and said i'm the ACCOMMODATIONS DIRECTOR, THAT this is HIGHER THAN A MANAGERS STANCE. Wow, ok, i kept my composure and my voice. I said i apologize, i told her you know i am planning on getting married and this was a property i was considering on renting out. She said " DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THIS PLACE IS TO RENT OUT, DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT COSTS, DO YOU?" Holy S**t!!! I couldn't believe this. She insinuated that we couldn't afford this. My family owns multiple General Cargo Vessels, and we have money yet she just judged a book by it's cover.. After all this is said i told her, you can refund a nights stay and credit my card, that's it. She said she can not do that. She would offer a lesser room to stay one night for free. After all this above, would i dare consider staying here a night. She insinuated i couldn't afford the property she is trying to run on behalf of probably great owners, there was No breakfast, and the Jacuzzi and shower does not work? What a mistake, what a true mistake in choosing this property and ever meeting Cathy, self-recognizing person. Look, i come form the Hospitality industry and i make a great living. I am the recipient of the R.O.S.E. Award for THE HOSPITALITY PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR FROM THE INDIANA DUNES TOURISM BOARD. I am an example of how guests, clients, people need to be treated regardless of their status-qua, appearance, complaints, anything. True professionals deliver the best every day 24 hours/365 days a year.

Yelp
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the very knowledgeable and welcoming Kathy. The food was plentiful, the attractions close by and the accommodations very warm with beautiful accents. Delicious breakfast with so many choices. Great little get away!

Yelp
Wonderful stay! We stayed on 4th of July weekend. A warm welcome, very comfortable beds, beautiful decor, impeccably clean. They let you eat food from the kitchen 24/7 !!! We felt genuine hospitality from Cathy, the innkeeper. They also cook delicious breakfasts for guests each day. Breakfast is on their schedule but I recommend taking part - it's really tasty.

Yelp
I had an appointment with Cathy today and was very disappointed. I arrived at the location for our meeting and was surprised that after I rang the bell (a few times) was not acknowledged. We stood at the gate waiting to be buzzed in until a couple arrived and let us in. When we walked in, I thought she was busy and was not able to let us in and found that she was sitting at her desk watching us stand there from a live video feed. I (the potential client) introduced my friend and myself and we started talking about the event that I was looking to host. As we talked, she never acknowledged my existence and had the conversation with my friend the entire time. When I talked to her on the phone, she requested that I come at noon and she would then show me around. That changed when I arrived (on time) as she noted that the Villa was full and she could not show me the property. I asked to see the kitchen and she pointed and noted that the kitchen was in that direction. She finally got up from her chair and walked with us to the kitchen, however she continued to discuss the property with my friend. During the entire conversation, she NEVER gave me any eye contact and acted as if I was not present. As we walked to the kitchen I knew I would not consider the property (no matter how nice it is) merely based on that experience. For me, no Cathy is not a gem. It is clear that she judges a book by it cover and I was left with the impression that this facility does not cater to diversity. Yes, it shows up in the Best Bed & Breakfast reviews, however I would like to see the data the represents how many "people of color" have stayed at this establishment. Bottom-line, I would not recommend anyone to this property knowing that I left with the impression that they DO NOT welcome and/or embrace diversity. Signed - Dr. Johnson

Yelp
Villa D'Druse is AMAZING! I stayed at the beautiful property in August of 09 and had a great experience. My sister found the hotel on a B&B website and we took a chance. We visited Chicago for her bachelorette party for the weekend and the villa was the perfect place to for it. Its very close to all the restaurants, shopping and nightlife and its right on the main drag so you can walk to everything or take a cheap cab ride. The boutique mansion, as they call it is beautiful! You feel like you are living in your own house with comfortable beds. You almost feel like your staying at your own house, just fancier. There are, I think 5 rooms total which is nice because I maybe saw the other guests there once or twice. There is a beautiful kitchen with everything you could possibly need, an outside area with a hot tub and spacious rooms. Nic was amazing. Anything we needed he got us, he's full of energy and a great asset to the villa. We have told all of our friends about it and encourage anyone to stay there!!
