A Guide to Silverton, Colorado

"It’s easy to overlook the Villa Dallavalle, which sits off the main thoroughfare behind an unassuming facade. But the inn, which recently added the Wildcrafter Spa with a sauna, steam room, and jetted tubs, is actually the longest family-run business in Silverton. The inn has a quaint, European feel, and each room is cozy and unique, telling the story of the Dallavalle family who immigrated to Silverton from Tyrol, Italy." - Travel + Leisure Editors

We camped outside Silverton for 2 weeks and frequently visited the hotel and spa for hot showers. Best showers in town. Excellent customer service. The spa has a wonderful wine selection and beautifully decorated cheese and meat trays. Not only that, but it's such a great value for the quality. We will definitely be back. Thank you for the hospitality!

We stayed here for 3 days and we had an amazing time. All the staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and cozy. You get access to the on-site spa, hot tubs (there are 4) sauna, and steam shower. The whole stay was very relaxing and just amazing. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an amazing experience in an awesome little town.

I recently stayed at Villa Dallavalle Historic Hotel-Inn, and it was a truly memorable experience. Built in 1904, the inn combines historical charm with modern comforts in a stunning setting. The spa facilities—including multiple hot tubs and a cedar sauna—were impeccably clean and inviting, offering the perfect way to relax. The view from the property was absolutely breathtaking. A special mention goes to the owner, Nancy, whose warm hospitality and engaging conversation made our stay even more delightful. Her personal touch ensured that we felt welcome and well-cared for throughout our visit. Overall, Villa Dallavalle Historic Hotel-Inn is a perfect blend of history, beauty, and exceptional service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique getaway.

By the time you reluctantly leave this friendly, homey hotel you will have experienced small town mountain hospitality at its best. Nancy and Wendy made sure I felt at home, while my 15 year old dog thought she’d found heaven sniffing around the flowers in the huge side yard. Take a relaxing break from your travels and listen to the bubbling fountain and birdsong, or soak in the outdoor hot tub under the stars. Robes included! There’s not many towns like Silverton, and not many hosts like Nancy and Wendy. Hats off to them both.

Villa Dallavalle Historic Hotel-Inn is a unique gem that effortlessly blends history with modern luxury. Not only was the inn built in 1904, but it also carries a rich personal history—her husband's father actually built the structure, adding an extra layer of charm and authenticity to the property. The spa area is exceptional, featuring several hot tubs and a cedar sauna that are meticulously maintained and perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing. The breathtaking views only add to the experience, making every moment here a treat for the senses. A special shoutout to Nancy, the owner, whose warm hospitality and engaging conversation made our stay feel incredibly personal and welcoming. Her attention to detail and passion for preserving the history of the inn truly set this place apart. I highly recommend Villa Dallavalle Historic Hotel-Inn for anyone looking for a memorable stay steeped in history and wrapped in genuine hospitality.

Was really looking forward to staying here but having done so am left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. Yes, it is a historic property, and I have stayed in 3 other " historic" properties on this 16 day roadtrip and this is by far the least impressive. The room we stayed in had no window ,just a sky tube, giving a totally claustrophobic feel. The room itself was barely bigger than the bed occupying it. The sink was hanging to the wall by a thread. Two of the lamps were inoperative. Walls were paper thin. The waste bin in the guest kitchen was overflowing , and they no longer do breakfast any more! A few positives however , the chap who checked us in was nice enough and the hot tubs and sauna were nice with robes in the room. This is not value for money in my opinion and I sadly feel the proprietor s have taken their eye off the ball.

Cute historic hotel on Blair street. Walking distance to everything. Very knowledgeable staff upon checking in. Bed was comfortable. We stayed in room #5 and it had a great view. Only reason was 4/5 stars was I couldn’t sleep well as the room was hot. Ceiling fan was going. Window was open, but it’s fixed on how much it can be opened. So room only got down to 74. Which is too warm for me. My husband slept fine however. So it’s a personal preference!

Yelp
Finding ourselves with an evening to spare in Silverton, CO, I walked around and discovered Villa Dallavalle on a side street. Suddenly, I thought I was in Italy. This small wine-tasting garden and spa was the perfect place to relax on a warm summer evening. Choosing wine-tasting instead of a full glass was the perfect choice. Each was perfect and in the right order, and delightful Wendy, the owner, explained each one. Wendy also offers Italian soft drinks, called, I think A Siciliana. Both flavors were delicious. My partner especially liked the Pomegranate.

Yelp
Clean and comfortable. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. A very delicious breakfast was provided in an open dining area where you were able to socialize with other vacationers. Big lounge area with coffee, tea, hot chocolate and games. We especially liked soaking in the hot tub and the steam room. We arrived in Silverton the day before our reservation and had no accommodations for that night. The owner took time to call other motels for us to get us a room even though the motels had posted no vacancies. This was a life saver for us. This place is a gem. Don't miss it!

Yelp
Great place to stay where Wendy and Nancy treat you like family! Warm greetings, yummy hot breakfast, clean rooms surrounding you in historic charm. Plenty of room to spread out in the downstairs living area, the outside yard and hot tubs. We will definitely be back to stay.

Yelp
Definitely my favorite stay in Silverton. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a small but comfortable stay. Pam was a wonderful host and added history, character, and charm to the overall experience.

Yelp
The rooms are small and the showers are smaller, but it is a very friendly place to stay in a great little town! Superb fresh cooked breakfasts, the right price, clean & comfortable. We stayed in the winter when the owners were away and Lynn & Liz were running the place. Would stay here again and recommend it to friends. There is only one room (#7) which has the sink in the bathroom. So, the rest of them will have the sink in your small room and the shower/toilet in a smaller closet. That is kind of annoying if you're staying with a guest as the sink is right next to the bed. There is also very minimal room for your luggage. This is a small historic town, though, and if you are going for mountain this is all part of the adventure. You learn a lot about the mountain from your hosts, have a warm clean place to sleep, and feel like you're coming back home after a day out. For this particular trip, it was a nice change over a typical no-frills motel. They really encouraged you to make yourself at home, have a drink, watch the big screen, enjoy the hot tub, etc.

Yelp
Such an adorable, historic bed and breakfast! We stay here every couple of years and have never been disappointed. Pam was a great host and very helpful providing us with maps for our OHV's and lots of great information. The outdoor area was nice to play cornhole. We didn't bring swimsuits, but should have, as the outdoor hot tubs looked inviting! Tea and coffee available all day. Nice breakfast in the morning, and good conversation with other guests.

Yelp
This is a beautiful and quaint bed and breakfast. The three of us wanted a cute place to stay and found this. There is a parlor where breakfast is served in the morning. Very nice. Rooms are beautiful-- each very clean, beds are comfy, TVs in each room. Even though it was 20 degrees outside we were warm the whole night. We were the only ones in the bed and breakfast but had a wonderful experience. Lots of good places to eat and visit around town within walking distance. Overall 5 stars for wonderful service, clean rooms, and a great time.

Yelp
Extremely hospitable hosts. Very warm, friendly and accommodating. I think if you asked they'd give you a backrub! Wonderful breakfasts with ample servings for all. As noted, rooms are a bit small (relative to most modern hotels) but not cramped. The one room with two beds gets quite full w/ two people and ski gear though. Lots of interesting historical clippings, photos, etc covering the walls. The hot tub (which you go outside to get to) is very welcome after a ski-day. The mattresses could use an update, otherwise an overall excellent experience.

Yelp
i stayed here after coming off the Colorado Trail. Chris was so helpful and easygoing and made it all super easy. I was unsure when i would actually get there, Chris worked with me and when i called him from the side of a mountain, my phone was breaking up but he had the room for me when i got there. What a friendly and great guy, and he let me store my bike in the shed, super helpful and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was included and delicious, the price was incredibly reasonable, and the whole experience from start to finish was smooth and wonderful. yes, the room is small and the walls are thin, but it's a 100+year old building. that's how people lived back then. other than the thin walls, you don't need that much room for a place you are gonna sleep in. and store your stuff while you're out. i would stay here again next time i go to Silverton.

Yelp
I'm having a hard time leaving! Warm welcome, comfortable beds, lots of history, delicious breakfast, and most importantly, the most amazing hostess! I can't wait to plan my next trip back here! Thank you Nancy!

Yelp
Best place to stay in Silverton! The breakfast is delicious! And Lisa and Bill the managers are great! Wonderful stay during 4th of July! So much history.

Yelp
This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I could not have wished for a better place! The atmosphere is very homey and this place is a huge part of Silverton history. It was really clean and near all the restaurants and shops. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This is definitely the place to stay in southern Colorado. Lovely rooms, inviting hosts, and impeccable service. You will be enchanted by the mountains and charmed by the Villa.

Yelp
We stayed last summer. The room was small, as expected in this type of building, but clean and comfortable - no complaints here. The problem was the breakfast which was mediocre at best, with plain sliced white bread for toast, flavored generic yogurt, cold cereal and scrambled eggs. OK, I understand Silverton doesn't have the same access to a grocery store as other towns but this is a B&B....I expect more effort and imagination from the hosts in preparing the meal. It is not difficult to keep supplies to make a decent breakfast - french toast, pancakes, fresh biscuits or muffins, home cooked oatmeal.....

Yelp
My husband and I decided to splurge on a night's stay at this bed and breakfast, vs our usual camping trip, to celebrate my 63rd birthday. (based on reviews of it being quiet with ample breakfast - NOT!!!) We arrived at 4pm for our reservation which we made a week earlier. We were promptly informed that they were hosting a private 10 person sit down dinner party in the lobby / common area to begin at 6pm. (seriously?) Our room was tiny, and the bathroom even smaller than tiny, but we kind of expected this for a historical location. The hot tub was located under an outside stairwell, and was a nice temp, but felt cramped with 4 people in it. We were surprised to learn that the other 2 people were not even staying there. We had been told at the time of booking that there was a courtyard, so we decided to have our "happy hour" (not provided by the B&B) there vs the common area where the party was forming. The courtyard turned out to be an area of several dilapidated rotting picnic tables surrounded by tall weeds, dirt, and scattered trash so we resorted to sitting in our car. We returned from dinner around 9pm to find the clean up from their party in progress and headed upstairs to our room for a good night's sleep - much needed after a nice long day of high altitude hiking. There was another (the same?) party forming directly across the street, and we were not able to sleep until well after midnight - It was a very loud, boisterous, obnoxious drunken gathering. Toilet paper stuffed in our ears did nothing to help. Additionally, there was no sleep to be had after sunrise due to the complete sheerness of the window coverings. Based on reviews, we had looked forward to the "ample" and "awesome" breakfast. We went down at 8am as we were told, and found a pitiful lame breakfast consisting of about 300 calories each. (1 basic plain scrambled egg - possible it was 2 but doubtful, 2 very small paper thin pieces of bacon, a couple of thinly sliced and small pieces of watermelon, a small juice glass of o.j., and enough coffee for 2 small cups per person) We paid the $140 with no offer of a discount even though the owner was well aware of the noise / situation - and there was no offer of more food or coffee though it was obvious that the servings were insultingly insufficient. I left there hungry (and at 5'6" 120 lbs I am not a big eater) completely exhausted, and in tears. My husband who is typically known for his optimism described the experience as "downright pathetic" . I will remember it as the worst, most disheartening, birthday ever.
