We recently stayed at Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto, and I can’t say enough about our experience.||First tip: Make sure your flight coordinates well with your hotel stay. Loreto Airport (LTO) is very small, and as of our visit, only Alaska Airlines flies in—often just one flight a day! Flights in and out are limited, so book early and double-check that your arrival aligns with your hotel check-in.||We arranged transportation through the resort, which was simple and convenient. While airport pickup was not complimentary, it was easy to book. I was impressed when the resort called me before our trip to inform us that, by local law, a car seat is required for children under the age of three. Since we were traveling with a 3-year-old, this was important. The resort provided a car seat for $40 round-trip, which gave us peace of mind and showed they really care about guest safety and following regulations.||We are a family of four (kids aged 3 and 10), and from the moment we arrived, we felt relaxed. The crowds were very light when we checked in—it felt laid-back and uncrowded, which made it feel like our own private oasis. However, by the day we checked out, we could tell that more guests had arrived and the resort was getting busier. Still, it never felt overwhelming.||One thing to note is that Villa del Palmar is an exclusive resort—only accessible to guests, and there are no other hotels or businesses nearby. You are truly tucked away in a serene coastal location. The main town of Loreto is about 40 minutes away, so if you’re looking for peace, quiet, and total relaxation, this is the place. Just know in advance that you won’t be walking out of the resort to explore shops or restaurants—everything you need is already on property.||Upon check-in, we were welcomed with fruit kebabs and popsicles—just a small taste of the thoughtful touches they offer (I won’t spoil the rest!). Even better, our suite was ready before the official check-in time, which was a great surprise.||We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with the all-inclusive package, which included a full kitchen, washer, and dryer—so convenient for a family stay. The package was generous, though Starbucks and premium steaks or drinks weren’t included, but we received 40% off those items, which made it reasonable.||Before our trip, the concierge reached out to help us plan our stay. She even booked our dinner reservations via OpenTable, which made everything seamless. This level of service really elevated our experience.||The property is spotlessly clean, peaceful, and incredibly beautiful—a truly exclusive, hidden paradise. If you’re looking for nightlife or party vibes, this isn’t the place. It’s meant for true relaxation.||We spent most of our time at the pool. There are adult-only and member-only pools, but also plenty of family-friendly pool areas. The pool bar offers food, drinks, and even a “hidden” kids’ ice cream menu—just ask! There isn’t a set drink menu, so we often got creative and asked other guests for recommendations.||As for restaurants, our favorite by far was Danzante. There’s an entrance fee, but kids eat free, and it was honestly so good we wished we’d eaten there every night. Casa Mia, the Italian restaurant, was also fantastic.||We took a short ride to the 17th hole of their championship golf course, which boasts breathtaking ocean views and is ranked #1 in Latin America. Even if you don’t golf, the scenery alone is worth it.||We didn’t book excursions through the resort. Instead, we used an outside company called Sea and Land Tours, and I’ll be reviewing them separately because they were excellent.||There’s still so much more I could say, but this review would go on forever. Bottom line: if you’re looking for a peaceful, family-friendly escape with thoughtful service and top-notch amenities, and you’re okay with being a little removed from the town, Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto is the perfect destination. We’re already dreaming of our next trip back!
