I took my family on vacation here and I was overall unimpressed. The first day there, we were talked into sitting through a time share presentation which was only supposed to be 45 min long and in exchange, we would get discounts on excursions. It ended up lasting for 3 hours and 2 different sales people who just would not take no for an answer. We finally had to just walk away. The resort and rooms are nice but I was really surprised at how rude the staff was the first night. There was an event in the courtyard area with a buffet style dinner. All of the tables were completely full so we found one on the porch area. This staff member told us we were not allowed to sit there and when we asked where we were supposed to sit, she said “Did you check in”? Very rudely and as if we were already supposed to know about this “checking in” situation. Furthermore, we should be able to sit wherever we please at an all inclusive resort. I was pretty caught off guard by this and especially her attitude. Also, of all the all inclusive resorts we’ve stayed at, we are told not to tip. This place not only encourages it but expects it. At the end of our stay, I was surprised to see that they went ahead and added the tips to all the restaurants and for the spa. One of the excursions we did, overcharged us taking advantage of the fact that we are paying in pesos vs American dollars. Also, we had to ask every day for our room to be restocked with things like shampoo, bottled waters, and the snacks our room was supposed to come with. We also all ended up getting sick. We narrowed it down to the frozen drinks since we were careful not to drink the water. The location is at least a 45 min cab ride to anything we wanted to do for excursions. We did love the food at all the restaurants on the resort.

Our room was great but that was the only great thing. Service was terrible. We paid for all inclusive option and at times we were not even able to get bottled water. We all came back sick so that says a lot about the sanitation of the food. I would not recommend!

We absolutely loved our experience here at the Villa De Palmar Flamingos resort. We were upgraded to a spacious junior suite on the first floor with a patio with a gate that allowed access right into the pool area instead of having to walk all the way around. The patio door was a little dilapidated and when we opened it once towards the end of our stay, a part of the frame broke off and fell on the tile, so that was not fun. We loved the breakfast buffet in the restaurant in the resort, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the staff was great. My mom is a big fan of a glass of milk but they didn’t have that but the server tried really hard to find something to accommodate her request, offering her coconut milk instead. We had all inclusive which was well worth it and we loved all the food we tried from the restaurants, bars, and room service. Jenifer, the staff member that maintained our room, was extremely caring and thorough. We enjoyed the entire experience here and hope to be back again soon. The only complaints we had were the check in process took a long time with a long line and not many concierges assisting the people in line. And it was pretty warm but nobody offered us anything to drink while we were in line even though they offered everyone else drinks or water in line. Also their sales pitch for the Villa de Palmar members program felt very shady and scammy. With someone less confident than my 61 year old mother I can see how stressful it would be. They say it is only a 75 minute presentation but they will take three hours of your day and refuse to take no for an answer. After three hours my mother said no and then they had their manager come in to try and give another offer which she said no to too and then they took her down to another room with one more offer and she said no to that as well, the whole process took over three hours of our first day. I’ve also heard from other vacationers saying they have been pressured relentlessly by these sales reps even saying “well how are you paying for this vacation?” Which feels like a pretty invasive question. Then they ask us to put down other people’s phone numbers so they can harass our friends and family and when we said we weren’t comfortable giving out our friends numbers they were very persistent which was really annoying. We received two free massages for going to this presentation and the spa experience was really fun, including time in the sauna, steam room, a sugar scrub, and a jacuzzi before the massage but the massage itself was just okay, not really the best for myself or my mom.

We booked the penthouses suite. The view was perfect. The room service staff was amazing! The room get cleaned and the trash cans got emptied every day and new towels as well.

Our oceanfront suite had a wonderful view. Love the sound of the ocean and the weather was perfect. The front desk staff is not consistently customer oriented, at times they seemed annoyed with our requests. The room is dated, hot tub was too dirty to use and leaking, took two hands to open the sliding doors, curtains partially torn from their rods, ceiling stained from prior leaks. Breakfast was always good. Lunch was good but dinners were sketchy. Careful scheduling an excursion. Paid for the Sea Safari and after getting up very early, paying for a taxi they said we didn’t have a reservation. They offered to book another day but the frustration put a damper on our day. We still enjoyed our trip. Hope they can step up their maintenance and customer service.

Nice resort. Beautiful weather and beach. Wide array of food types. Drinks were weak at best. Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of beach chairs but need to get out early in the morning to reserve one for yourself. Variety of activities in which to participate. Will definitely return.

This Resort is very upscale, clean & beautiful. But... !!!!!!BEWARE!!!!! of the hard sell to buy into a time TIMESHARE!!!! Stephanie, one of the hard~sell agents is the worst scammer! They will provide rides from airport/ tequila/drinks/ breakfast etc to get you to sign up & start immediatly transferring your cash to them & it never stoops! They will promise you can rent it out easily (YOU CANNOT!!) Very restricted on the times you, as an owner, can even use it. This is the main reason this place is so lovely, all the money flowing in from gullible American tourists that buy these timeshares. Selling it is a nightmare and almost not possible. I am shocked this lovely resort still allows these parsites onto their premises..just an FYI

Definitely not worthy of 5 star hotel status. The rooms are old and only at the quality of a three star hotel and the service is awful. At other 5 star resorts they greet you with champagne and are fighting to help carry your bags. Here they don't give you anything and no one even offered to help with our luggage. And things only get worse from there. We were put in a room right above the lobby and we can hear every word people are saying. We immediately ask to switch rooms and they say ask again at night if it's still loud. Fine, we wait until night time call again, they say there are no rooms available try again in the morning. I'm woken up early in the morning by the noise, call the front desk and they put me on hold for over 10 minutes so I give up and come down. They agree to switch our room, but we have to be roomless for 5 hours during the day even though we're paying hundreds of dollars to stay here. Even worse, when we switch rooms they suddenly tell us about an extra $100 US charge for special cleaning for our service animal. I had called months in advance before making a reservation to verify that I could bring my service animal and they never mentioned the charge. They never mentioned it when I checked in either. If I had known I would not have stayed at this hotel. We tried for an hour to explain that it's unfair to charge us without any way of knowing until we already stayed a night. The manager doesn't care at all and flat out says you just have to pay it. Save your vacation and stay somewhere else.
