Villa di Piazzano - Small Luxury Hotels of the World, a Design Boutique Hotel Cortona, Italy

"Located just 3.7 mi from Cortona, Villa di Piazzano is an elegant historical villa. Its landscaped gardens include a terrace for al fresco dining, a pool and panoramic countryside views. This family-run hotel still includes a number of the villa's original features and a selection of antique furniture. All rooms are air conditioned and feature free Wi-Fi and Sky TV. Free Wi-Fi is also available in all areas, including the terrace and pool area. L'Antica Casina di Caccia restaurant applies a 0-km philosophy, which means it uses only the freshest local ingredients. It specializes in Tuscan cuisine and homemade pasta. Meals are served out on the terrace overlooking the surrounding countryside. The villa offers free parking and is a 15-minute drive from Lake Trasimeno." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

Villa di Piazzano (Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Umbria) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Every part of Italy has its own unique identity, but Villa di Piazzano almost seems like it exists solely to prove a point: the dividing line between Tuscany and Umbria literally runs through the hotel’s grounds, which means that rather than represent some essential characteristics of one or the other region, it’s free simply to be itself. And what it is, whether Tuscan or Umbrian, is an extraordinary hotel, a Renaissance-era villa that’s been expanded to 31 rooms and suites and transformed into an exquisitely tasteful luxury boutique hotel." - Tablet Hotels

We were coming from Miami Florida. We were looking for quiet relaxation and some luxury for our honeymoon. We definitely found it here. The grounds are beautiful. Our room was clean and luxurious and reasonably spacious. The shower was wonderful and the bedding was extremely comfortable and we slept well every night. The staff is very attentive and always looking to be helpful. The breakfasts were delicious. The walled city of Cortona surpassed our expectations and the nice thing is that we were 10 minutes away. It was nice visiting Cortona daily for dinner and spending an extra hour or two touring this miraculously preserved Etruscan city but we were happy to be staying down below in our luxury hotel.|We very much hope to return one day. If you consider a getaway to Tuscany put this on your list.

From the first drive up to the beautiful property to our last goodbye, everything at Villa di PIazzano was perfect. The staff is so warm and so friendly and always smiling and always there if you need anything. The entire property is stunning and so well maintained. Every meal is delicious. Great location for day trips within Tuscany and Umbria. Recommend without hestitation.

My wife and I spent two weeks in Italy. We researched our accommodation in some detail, and settled on Villa Di Piazzano, Badia Di Pomaio, Como Castello del Nero. In advance we thought we’d enjoy each one more than the previous, but it turned out the reverse. Villa di Piazzano was our favourite by far. Lovely property with great gardens and pool, but not too large, so it felt quite intimate and relaxing. We loved lying by the pool, and breakfast was a treat. Kind and friendly staff, with a warm family run feel. Cortona close by car (a lovely town), with lanes and country roads for bike rides nearby. Property has some e-bikes they hire out to guests, but in busy periods ask guests to limit use to 2 hours, so if you want them all day you might need to find an outside provider. ||We loved our stay and thoroughly recommend it.

Our stay at Villa di Piazzano was absolutely unforgettable. The rooms were truly luxurious, thoughtfully equipped with every amenity—even an iron, which had been an issue at other hotels during our trip. The views from the property were breathtaking, and the pool offered the perfect place to relax and unwind. What really set this hotel apart, though, was the food and wine. The meals were some of the best I’ve had in all of Italy, and the wine pairings were just as outstanding. Every dish felt special. The service was equally remarkable—attentive, warm, and personal. By the end of our stay, it felt like we had made real friends with the staff. If I ever return to this region, I wouldn’t hesitate for a moment—I would 100% stay here again. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a blend of luxury, relaxation, and authentic Italian hospitality.

The hotel grounds are beautiful, and the dinner menu and wait staff at dinner are excellent. However, I wouldn’t call this a 5-star experience, the level of service doesn’t consistently meet that standard. I’ve stayed at many 5-star hotels worldwide, and this property fell short in some areas. During breakfast, we had to actively seek out the wait staff, and they didn’t clearly explain the included breakfast options beyond the buffet. We encountered a billing issue, and the front desk staff member Chiara behaved unprofessionally and was not helpful. Zoe initially tried to assist us but indicated that Chiara needed to handle the matter. When we were handed off to Chiara, she rolled her eyes and raised her voice during the conversation. She refused to share the manager’s name despite multiple requests. On the bright side, Zoe did her best to assist us and was very kind. Overall, I would rate the stay as 3/5. The hotel seems more aligned with a 4-star standard rather than a true 5-star experience. -Janneth Bands + Sergio

Villa Di Piazzano is a little slice of heaven in the Tuscan countryside. The entire staff were accommodating & the facilities immaculately maintained. Thank you Mariasofia, Chiara, Davide, Enrico and Gaetano (and everyone else) for making our return to Villa Di Piazzano so special. Our entire stay from our arrival, breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, the room, the pool and the overall property. We even had the most relaxing massages in the beautiful Rose Cottage - thank you Laura! The team also provided recommendations and assisted in arranging reservations and transportation for us. We cannot thank you all enough for everything you did for us. We look forward to returning soon and will recommend this place to all our family and friends.

Our second stay and just as good. The service is impeccable with no request too much. We had 2 children (7,8) who would spend hours each day in the heated pool. The pool is salt water, the perfect size and only mildly chlorinated. The food is delicious at every level, the fruit, pastries, fish and meat.|Forced to criticise, I would say that sometimes the pricing feels quite full, with the restaurant taking €5 per head cover charge and 2 courses in the evening costing $90. A slightly less fancy option for our children would have been welcome.|All in all, we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.

We have spent a lot of time in Italy and years ago lived here for a year of sabbatical. We have had experiences from the very north to Sicily. Our stay at Villa Di Piazzano was one of our best and one we will always remember. The room and proximity to both Tuscany and Umbria were fantastic but the staff at the hotel is what set it apart. They seem to love their jobs, the facility and making their guests feel at home and wanted.
