We didn’t stay at this place. We visited the bar today and it wasn’t a pleasant experience at all. Me and my boyfriend initially bought a dessert from the shop across the street but he sprained his ankle so he was in pain. We wanted to sit at the bar for a moment because the place was empty except 1 person at the moment (around 20:30). We know we can’t just come in with food from somewhere else so we politely asked the man behind the bar if it was okay for us to sit down with our dessert if we ordered drinks. At first he didn’t smile at all, but okay maybe he had a bad day? He said it was okay. The sprite that my boyfriend wanted to order was sold out, so he wanted a water. So now comes the thing. The barman said, I quote: no, too cheap. If you want water you can go over there *points at the street*. And continues to look at us very arrogant. Mind you, we were friendly the whole time and if you don’t want us to order a water, that’s totally fine and understandable, but why say it in such a rude way? He could have said it in a normal way and we would completely understand. His tone of voice and his whole attitude was so arrogant and not welcoming at all. I have never seen such an attitude from Thai people because they are always so friendly. So eventually we ordered a Fanta and sat down, I didn’t even wanted to order a drink for myself because I felt so uncomfortable. We eventually left the place with the drink for takeaway because we didn’t feel welcomed at all. If the place was packed, I would also be more understandable but the place was almost completely empty. I don’t understand why the barman needs to behave like that, especially when you work in hospitality. Such a shame, because the live music singer was amazing.

This is a quaint, colonial style hotel that seems to be throwback to the 1950s. It has more character in its little finger than the plush high rise properties have all together. The rooms are clean, well appointed and equipped with a killer air conditioner…which was much appreciated. |The hotel “lobby” is an open air cafe serving cold beer and good food. Live music is provided most nights which was perfect after a long day of trekking the sights. I was soooo impressed with the cafe I kept sending pics to friends. The location is in the center of Old Town so sights were always close.|Finally the staff, and Tony in particular, was so attentive, friendly and genuine I felt like I was truly welcomed and was an important guest to them. If you’re looking for posh, move on. If you’re looking for unique and genuine, you will be at home. Personally I would stay nowhere else in Chiang Mai.

We been here many times, we mostly stayed in all off their rooms. All of the rooms have a different character, decoration and charm. This time we stayed in room 10 which is the highest floor facing to the mountain and the balcony facing to the Sunday walking street night market.Room is big and comfy bed ,especially the big round bathtub make us feel relax after the whole day’s trip. The Sunday night live music was superb. The hotel itself so vintage cozy colonial style and we love it so much.We definitely will come back again and again.

An older charming hotel in the middle of Chiang Mai old town, on the same street as the Sunday night market. On those nights the outdoor bar/lobby has 4 or more excellent live bands from trad to blues to slick jazz which brings in a lively crowd. And on the nights with no entertainment, it's simply a lovely place to chill. Staff so welcoming and helpful - huge thanks to Tony and all the staff at Villa Duang Champa 🙏

Awesome hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai. In walking distance to several attractions inside Chiang Mai, and in a street with not too much traffic. Two tour companies close to the hotel and several shops renting out motorbikes. ||Cozy rooms with lots of windows in every direction making the room feel very open and breezy. Had one night with lots of thunder, and had first class view of the lightning show. :) ||Really friendly staff, and Tony in the reception did an excelent job. ||Also, the hotel have live music on sunday night, and its a really good band with real talent. ||Will defiently come back here next time I will go to Chiang Mai.

Stopped in at the patio bar during the Sunday market as they had live music. Stayed for two bands, both of which were great. Staff was friendly, lots of covered seating, good drinks, fun spot with a nice vibe.

The band that play here were very cool. Extremely talented bass and sax players. I think they play every Saturday and Sunday here.
