Just stopped in here for the music on Sunday during the markets. Such great atmosphere. The gentleman that was on the door was so helpful and happy. Really made the place. Great night.

This is the perfect place to stay in Chiang Mai!!! The location is perfect, close to a lot of temples and you’re in the old city and right by the Sunday walking street. The hotel has an old charm to it and the AC works great. The people are reception are kind and allow you to leave your bags at the front if your flight is later in the day. One negative that we faced was that the shower drain is outside of the shower and it backed up, causing the bathroom to essentially flood the first night and spill out into the bedroom. The following nights we turned the shower off during the shower which helped but still had a mini flood everytime.

The jazz night on Sunday is interesting, both bands nailed it! And amazing service and crew.

Although this is not a 5 star hotel I give them 5 stars. The rooms are old fashioned in a romantic sort of way - clean and tidy and comfortable. Sure the facilities are a little rustic but they suit the place. Everything works. I can picture Earnest Hemingway holing up at this hotel and penning a novel. It’s that kind of place. Yes it can be a bit noisy at times but you’re not staying in the countryside. The city sounds didn’t bother me. There are great areas to sit under the open balconies and pass the time. The bar area is a nice spot to sit and watch the street bustle go by. Room rates are good value and it’s a great central location in the heart of the old city. I will definitely stay here next time I find myself in Chiang Mai.

Require sleep? Look elsewhere. Nice staff, historic architecture and right in the heart of the Old City. Problem is, they have bands play until midnight several days a week. Yes, they make it known that they have live music when you book. But what they don’t tell you is how astonishingly loud the music is in your room (and I was on the top floor). On a Sunday night, my noise-canceling headphones couldn’t begin to compete with the band in the lobby and I ended up listening to my music full blast to try to drown it out. Needless to say, my activities the following morning were a disaster for lack of sleep and sightseeing while running on fumes was not any fun. Because my vacation was being ruined by late night racket on several nights, I had to make the hard choice to leave before my checkout date. I was refused a refund for the remaining days of my stay. But without rest, my time in Chiang Mai would have been wasted as I straggled around in a fog. I flew halfway around the world to enjoy the old city and surrounding areas… not to be involuntarily subjected to a loud cover band rattling my teeth half the night. If that is your thing, great. If not, I strongly suggest looking at the many other amazing options available nearby.

We stayed here originally booking only 1 night however changed our booking and extended for another 3 nights before going back to Bangkok. Best decision we made enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and old colonial charm. Our room was spacious for two ppl. Yes the bathroom is dated but we enjoyed our stay. Our room was tidied every day and although we didn't eat downstairs we bought fruit and yoghurt from 7-11. Highly recommend this hotel for value, cleanliness and location to everything nearby .... eateries, markets and shopping. Go see Tony at reception and he'll take the stress away by booking your trips for you. There's a bar downstairs and occasionally they have live music too on certain nights. Highly recommend

We didn't stay here but popped in to the very welcoming and atmospheric bar, facing onto the street. Music is good, beer is chilled and there are some frogs chirruping away in the little ponds - just had a nice atmosphere, watching the world go past.
