Villa Extramuros

We spent 9 days at the villa. It was wonderful! The villa is a beautiful modern building with fabulous decor. The owners have incorporated many Portuguese crafts in the decor ie. pottery, blankets, cork. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Breakfasts were delicious with the owners using locally produced items. We especially loved the lemon marmalade and the passion fruit gelato! The pool was gorgeous and very refreshing after our day trips the area. The villa is about an hour away from Lisbon and is a great location for exploring the many unique towns, villages and of course the wineries.|Francois provided great recommendations for restaurants and sights in the area.|We highly recommend staying at Villa Extramuros. You’ll love it!

This villa is set apart from any other place both physically as well as the experience. It’s down a private small road and designed so exquisitely. Françoise and his team create a perfect get away with an amazing breakfast, relaxing pool, fantastic rooms with very cool bathrooms. The views and surroundings are beautiful with a view of the fort on top of the mountain to focus on. It’s lit up at night and is a great place to visit. You feel special when you stay here!

Our stay at Villa Extramuros in Arraiolos, Alentejo, was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the friendly and attentive staff made us feel right at home. The accommodations were extraordinary, combining modern elegance with a cozy, rustic touch (cork) that perfectly suited the serene surroundings. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the breathtaking pool, offering stunning views of the picturesque Olive tree landscapes. Whether we were lounging by the pool or exploring the beautiful region, every moment was filled with relaxation. Villa Extramuros exceeded all our expectations and provided an unforgettable escape. What an enjoyable and comfortable stay we had at Villa Extramuros. Our room was extremely comfortable with plenty of space to relax and ample space for our luggage. It was clean and private with a beautiful view. The main house and common areas are very welcoming with a modern and artistic flare. Francois was a perfect host and we enjoyed chatting with him during breakfast service. Speaking of breakfast, it was excellent every day with fresh ingredients and wonderful presentation. The location was perfect for our plans as we took multiple day trips to include Extremoz, Elvas, Monsaraz, and Evora. Thank you for providing such a wonderful place for our stay Francois!

My husband found this gorgeous villa in the Alentejo region, and it turned out to be one of my favorite stays of all time! The host, François, made us feel so welcomed. The photos demonstrate his impeccable style and attention to detail. Every morning a delicious breakfast awaited us! We were delighted at every turn. We opted to have dinner at the villa one evening and it was terrific. The pool area is lovely with very comfortable loungers. François is available to help you with suggestions for touring around and dinner reservations. Our room was perfect with a huge shower, 2 large patios, an espresso maker and high quality linens. The villa also has an electric car charger which was so convenient. Can’t recommend highly enough!

My family and I spent 2 days in the region on a trip between Seville and Lisbon. The place is literally an oasis. We were looking for an opportunity to relax and enjoyed spending time together. We had some travel logistics just before the stay that complicated things. Francois was amazingly hospitable. The villa is beautiful, well-apportioned and includes the appropriate creature comforts. Most notably, it provides a perfect environment to peacefully relax. There are only 5 rooms and 2 cabanas located on the grounds of the property. My family raved about the accommodations! During our visit, Francois was short-handed but you wouldn’t have realized it. Everything was fantastic. The villa is also within a 15 minute drive from Évora; a quaint Portuguese town with a rich history. There are also very nice vineyards within a short distance as well. The town of Arraiolos is also very close to the villa but it is not advisable to walk. I would strongly recommend for those looking for a quiet oasis.

Thank you to François and his team for a wonderful stay. This is a spot our travel agent picked for us along the way on our honeymoon trip, and we couldn’t have found a better hotel if we tried. Villa Extramuros is a little slice of heaven on earth. Not only is every room thoughtfully curated to surround you with art and stimulate relaxation and creativity, the entire space is so peaceful and there are many places to choose to relax. The town is only a few minutes away, where you can enjoy tapas or check out the castle ruins at the top of the hill (which you have a beautiful view of lit up at night from the hotel). The pool was wonderful, with a spacious patio and umbrellas to relax and read under. It’s hard to choose a “best part”, but it may have been the food. It’s really just an incredible place that the owners have clearly put their entire selves into. I feel grateful to have stayed here, and highly recommend to anyone looking for a place that will help them truly “slow down” and experience life in Alentejo.

We stayed 4 days at Villa Extramuros recommended by good friends. We did not regret at all.|First, the architecture and the decoration of this place is something very special with a strong identity. Minimalist for the architecture but very cozy and modern for the decoration. Art is everywhere !|Nature is very present which provides a feeling of tranquility.|Rooms are big and very comfortable. Each room have a private terrace with an amazing view to the castle, the pool and the nature. Aesop amenities make the difference.|Breakfast is one of the best we’ve ever had. All is fresh, tasty and local. Fresh orange juice from their own oranges, fresh sheep cheese, amazing fruits salad, homemade marmelades, traditional pastry, omelette with tomatoes, herbs and ham (yummy !!). It’s really a key moment of our stay.|François and Jean-Christophe, the 2 owners are very nice and helpful to give you the best recommendations for the things to do (visit, restaurants reservations etc...).|The village Arraiolos is very charming. Évora is just at 15 mns by car. It’s worth to visit it.|For sure, we will be back during spring or summer to enjoy the pool. It looks amazing !
