Culebra, Puerto Rico, Travel Guide

"There are surprisingly few places to stay near the famous Playa Flamenco," says Montalvo. The colorfulVilla Flamenco Beachis one of them, ticking every box for an extended beach stay with kitchenettes, ocean or island views, and plenty of beach chairs, all within steps of the sand. "It's my favorite place to stay on Culebra, and one I'll always come back to," he says." - Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila Carley Rojas Avila is a bilingual travel writer, editor, and content marketer. Stayed in property Sept 26-28, 2025. Summary of review: 1- Location A+, right on the beach (Flamenco beach). Cannot beat location. Getting there was a bit of a challenge as Google Maps is not updated. 2- Rooms: basic and not more than what is needed. Rooms facing the beach have very nice views. You can also hear the ocean. 3- They allowed us to “check in” earlier, which is always nice. 4- ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT: although they do have a power generator, they switched it on around 7:30AM, even though there was a power outage at around 1AM. No AC or fan could be used during that time (about 6-7 hours), so sleep was interrupted in not a nice way. Had to open the windows to catch a small breeze and try to sleep. Once generator was turned on (around 7:30AM) it was only left on for a very short while. Stepped out around 8AM to grab some breakfast before “checking out” that same morning. However, when we returned the generator was not running and it was not turned on either once were there (we were the only guests at the property at that time). We “checked out” earlier, as the room was uncomfortable to be in without a fan or AC. Overall, excellent, excellent location, rooms are average and owners seem nice. However, not satisfied at all in the way they handled the power outage the last day we were there (being from Puerto Rico we are very aware of the challenges business owners face with power and electricity, but we would have definitely handled it differently (we are in the hospitality industry as well)).

Beautiful property. Well maintained. Kind people.. You cannot beat the location. We stayed in a room facing the beach and it was lovely. Well equipped but simple. Juan was lovely, connective and a great communicator. Super grateful for being welcomed on this beautiful property.

What a beautiful beach and great hosts. The owners are the best. I got in really late and missed dinner. The owner met me with a giant slice of pizza that was so nice. He explained that this was not a hotel but their home and would appreciate it if I treated it as such. I only stayed two nights but I really enjoyed it. The AC was super cold and new and the bed was extremely soft I just melted into it. I learned not to lay down during the day or I would fall asleep.

Very nice villa directly on world famous Flaminco Beach. We were upstairs in a beach facing room. The view was wonderful, just steps from the sand and water. Beach chairs and lounge chairs available for use as well as a gas grill. Also appreciate the books available for guests. Beautiful property totally fenced in with sitting areas and hammocks. When the sun got too hot we sat on our balcony. Loved being able to open the windows and listen to the waves at night. The bed is comfortable.. We spent a week here celebrating our anniversary. Juan and Violetta are friendly and helpful. Note- there is no TV so bring books or a tablet. Also- no hair dryer if that's important.

This is a privately owned property, owners live onsite and help with any questions you may have. Stay 2 nights or more on flamenco beach. You won’t regret it. The beach is your own until 10 am and after about 2 pm right in front of the villa. Beach reminds me of St John’s. Cannot check out late or in early.

All the beaches in Culebra, are beautiful, but my favorite is Flamenco Beach. The beach is amazing…… love it love it…..I will repeat and repeat…. Got there by plane leaving from Ceiba…. All was smooth and easy. At the beach you get all the good drinks, friendly working employees, the taxi drivers are all great…… just love it 😍 Super fun place and relaxing….

Perfect location, perfect room, perfect property. We loved the relaxed atmosphere that Juan creates for his guests. We were super comfortable and had the perfect balance of privacy and communal amenities. Gorgeous beach. The kitchenette and grill would be perfect for bringing groceries and staying for a week without leaving. Or walk down the beach for lunch every day at the kiosks and drive into town for dinner.

Wonderful experience at Villa Flamenco! We were there for 6 idyllic nights. Juan was wonderful. He and Violeta have created a very special place to getaway to that is quiet and comfortable, just steps from the gorgeous Flamenco Beach! One of our favorite parts was Donny the night heron who has been hanging around there for 12 years! We loved our daily visits from him so much! The crashing of the waves that we could hear from our downstairs room was wonderful. Several hammocks to rest on and a grill to cook out on were great. Lounges for the yard or beach and an umbrella you can rent for $10 per day. I wish we’d known about the umbrella sooner. The beach has next to no shade and the sun is no joke!! We had a fair amount of wind and that helped keep the bugs down. The snorkeling at the beach was not the best as it was pretty churned up last week, though I did see a hawksbill turtle our first day! This spot is a real gem! I’d rec a Jeep over a golf cart. I’m really glad we got a Jeep! Hope to go back someday!

Yelp
Ahhhhmazing!!!! What a beautiful place to unwind. Steps to the most serene, private beach on the island! Juan was the most gracious host with the best one liners! We will be back!!

Yelp
My family and I stayed at Villa Flamenco Beach for 3 nights and it was a dream. It was so unbelievably beautiful to stay in a beachfront property on Flamenco Beach!! Also, the price was very reasonable for what you are getting. The room was comfortable and we loved that we had a kitchen to cook in. We went to the local grocery store to get food and prepared it in the kitchen. We also loved that there was no TV in our room because we never watch TV on vacation since it reminds us of being back home and it wastes the trip away. lol :) We loved that they also provide beach towels, aside from the bath towels. My daughters enjoyed swinging in the hammock in the front of the property. Juan greeted us personally and showed us around when we first arrived, and we felt very safe staying here. The property feels very private and quiet. It is away from the public beach entrance side of Flamenco Beach which is nice because the beach in front of this property doesn't get so crowded. While staying at Culebra we took a water taxi to Culebrita Island for a half-day trip, and that was breathtaking and a must-do. Staying at Villa Flamenco Beach was a wonderful peaceful retreat away from city-life and we loved every minute!! The location can't be beat! We HIGHLY recommend Villa Flamenco Beach to anyone. It is a gem!

Yelp
WARNING!! PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE STAYING AT (VILLA FLAMENCO BEACH) Our experience staying at Villa Flamenco Beach. Roaches on our bed, our AC didn't work, no room service, we had to discard our own trash. Since day one we did not feel welcomed at this place. On top of everything Mr. Juan the owner threatened me one night I had some friends that crossed the property to get to the beach. We definitely will never stay at the Villa Flamenco Beach again, Mr. Juan lost a customer. Try the place next door it's called Culebra Villa Beach. There's also multiple ways to go to Flamenco beach. Hope this was helpful to everyone, enjoy your stay at Culebra PR.

Yelp
Ask for Juan!!! Walk out of your room onto one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Not much more you can ask for. Juan's place is only a few rooms, and nothing fancy, but if you're not spending your day in the water, you should just go to one of those stupid resorts. Juan was incredibly helpful with where to go, what was happening, and booking our flights back to San Juan. We rented a jeep from Jerry's, and even though the island isn't big, I think it's worth it if you're spending a few days here and want to explore a little bit.
