Villa Ganz Boutique Hotel

I couldn’t say enough about this hotel and especially the staff. Armando has done an incredible job of putting together a team that made us feel like we were staying at our best friends’ house. We left personally knowing each member. The hotel itself was perfect. Wonderfully designed and carefully thought out. Location was great, walkable to many great bars, restaurants, and shopping. We loved eating and hanging out in the bar/lounge. The staff was also extremely helpful in arranging anything we wanted outside of the hotel. We can’t wait to return.

Although not perfect, this boutique hotel is a very pleasant experience. The room was spacious. The staff were all very positive and friendly. And, best of all, the bed was really comfortable and was outfitted with high quality linens. We stayed here for six nights in mid December and it took us a few days to really appreciate what a cool neighborhood the hotel is located in; it's a few blocks from the busting Calle Chapultepec which has a bunch of bars and restaurants (geared for a 20s/30s crowd. Sprinkled closer around the hotel are a handful of quieter restaurants. We never worried about safety but the property sits behind a gate off the street. ||I would've given this property a 5 instead of a 4 but the food & beverage operation here is a bad mark on an otherwise stellar hotel. Specifically: the dining area is a very attractive outdoor (covered) patio that would be a superb place to enjoy a meal or a quiet late night drink but nobody was well versed on how to manage it all. It seemed like an afterthought. For example, our first morning there we went down for breakfast and the place was full (six tables, spaciously spread out) but there was one guy who was so inexperienced with waiting tables that it caught everyone's attention. And on top of that, it appeared that he was also doing all or some of the cooking. Within 10 minutes we saw two of the tables get up and leave. We should have followed but we waited another 10 minutes and then we got up to leave but one of our dishes arrived right as we were at the door so we stayed. That was a mistake, it wasn't very good. We planned to stay away from that area for the remainder of our stay but we did return on our final night to go have a beer. It took several minutes of seeing nobody back there so we went to the front reception guy and he offered to help us. He clearly didn't know anything about the tiny bar area because he couldn't find a single beer in the small cooler. We then asked for a glass of wine instead and he found one bottle of wine that didn't even have enough left to fill a glass. So we settled for one bottle of water. In a nutshell, that was how the food & beverage operation went when we were there. We took it all in stride though and quickly lowered our expectations after that first day, the hotel was way too nice to let that get us down. I would definitely go back to Villa Ganz but I would go out for every meal.||Side note: the hotel is a pretty good distance from all the touristy stuff so we took an Uber everywhere (we were advised to stay away from taxi's there).

Their hospitality immediately made us feel right at home. They gave us a lovely tour of the property, which beautifully blends rustic charm with modern elegance — every corner of the hotel tells a story and feels thoughtfully curated. A special mention to Luis, the chef, whose exceptional service and delicious special dishes elevated our entire stay. Each meal was a delightful experience, and his attention to detail made every bite memorable. The entire team at Villa Ganz created an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. It wasn't just a stay — it felt like coming home. We can’t wait to return!

Villa Ganz Boutique Hotel is a Beautiful Oasis! Located on a quiet street in the heart of all the action. This gorgeous boutique hotel exceeded all our expectations in our 4 day visit to Guadalajara November 2025. We are English speaking from Calgary AB Canada. Villa Ganz is such a beautiful tranquil hotel in a modern colonial style with lovely gardens and courtyards. All of the staff were warm, attentive and accommodating. Delicious meals were prepared for us. Hotel was very clean with all the amenities that you would want in a luxury hotel.

This Beautiful Hotel is cozy, comfortable and makes you feel at home. The Staff is AMAZING! Armando, Ivan, Carlos were our daily staff, they are the ones we saw the most, then there was Luis! He was one of the assistant Chefs he was Great and the food at the restaurant was sooo good! We have travelled throughout Mexico quite a bit and this has to be the BEST STAFF we have yet to meet. The Hotel is small and quiet, the rooms, the linens are so clean . The patios are beautiful . We would definitely return to Villa Ganz and definitely would recommend it. Muchas Gracias muchachos nos trataron de lo Mejor!

We enjoyed our stay, particularly because the hotel is located near a number of excellent restaurants. Also, the hotel has a nice courtyard where we had breakfast each morning.||Our room was clean and comfortable, but I thought the bathroom could use an upgrade. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet (even though it faced the street).||Breakfast was not included in our rate, and perhaps because of the dollar/peso exchange rate, the rate we paid was not inexpensive. If breakfast had been included, I would have found the rate to be more reasonable.||Next time we visit we’ll probably stay at another nearby hotel, just to try something different.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — An unforgettable stay! I had the most amazing experience staying at Villa Ganz in Guadalajara. From the moment I arrived, the ambiance felt warm, welcoming, peaceful, and incredibly zen. The outdoor area, surrounded by beautiful plants and trees, was the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hospitality here is truly exceptional. Every single staff member goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable and well taken care of. Anything I needed was accommodated immediately. Carlos, the evening manager, was especially wonderful—always smiling, attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure our stay was perfect. Sarah was also incredibly warm and helpful as she gave the best recommendations for tripitas, Armando and Iván were both so helpful during the daytime at making sure our stay was excellent. Armando was so kind to help me schedule a spa day massage, the best part is the massage therapist comes to the Villa for your treatment. When I had friends visiting Guadalajara; Ivan made them feel just as welcome as I did. They were in the area and stopped by last minute to try a concha. As I told them Villa Ganz has the best concha’s you’ll ever try. Ivan welcomed my friends and even gave them a tour of the Villa. My friends mentioned the next time they are in Guadalajara, Villa Ganz will be the place for their next stay. And I can’t forget to mention their family house cat, Bubba—the friendliest cat ever! He’s such a sweet addition to the property and made the stay feel even more homey as he would wait by the steps for guests to come back. The location is ideal—centrally located and within walking distance to restaurants, cafés, shops, museums, and the university. The area feels very safe and is great for exploring on foot. I can’t recommend Villa Ganz enough. I’m already looking forward to my next stay!

This hotel is wonderful in every possible way. Excellent location in a safe neighborhood. Lovely rooms, super comfortable beds. Top notch food in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and supper. Service is above and beyond.|Special shout out to Armando, Ivan, and Carlos for their hellp.

Hidden Gem in a fantastic neighborhood. Came to celebrate two birthdays. We loved the hotel and restaurant so much we begged Armondo to help us book an extra night. I stayed in room 11 , which was fantastic. The cat Bubba slept in chair outside . The 6 or 8 course tasting menu is a must. You must reserve this . We actually did the 6 course twice. Both times were surprisingly different and delicious. Can not wait to return

Fantastic hotel, a short walk from bars and restaurants. We checked in and couldn't have felt more welcome and comfortable. Our room was overlooking their tranquil courtyard, with a hammock. Hotel staff were courteous and offered great advice. Could not recommend this hotel enough!

We came to visit an artist friend in GDL and stayed for 4 nights in the #17 Jacinta room upstairs, street side of the hotel, but actually not too noisy. Location of hotel is excellent. Staff is very good - young, enthusiastic, eager to please. Cleanliness is excellent. The garden area was beautiful and we had our breakfast there. What would have merited another star - a higher quality breakfast. I asked for sugar free plain yogurt - none was available. Fruit plate could be more attractive and varied - after all, it's Mexico, where there is guava, mamey, and other fruits beyond papaya and pineapple. The breads could be of higher quality, herbal tea could be loose leaf instead of tea bags - other than that, I enjoyed my stay. GDL is definitely not my favorite town, but if I had to return, I might consider staying at Villa Ganz again.

We were really impressed with this place. The room was amazing and the staff is top notch! We plan on staying here again for our next visit.

What a serene, lovely hotel! This magnificent mansion built in the 1920's sits in the heart of Colonia Lafayette which is a contemporary part of the city bustling with cars, buses, taxis and pedestrians. Restaurants and nightlife abound in the area. Once inside you are transformed into a by-gone era of beautiful old world Spanish Colonial furnishings and beautifully manicured gardens. This is a small boutique hotel and we were stayed in the grand master suites, Doloritas Suite, which was so lovely with its front sitting area with beautiful old candle that they would light at night. Despite the traffic at night the room was extremely quiet and we slept well every night and felt very safe. The bed, pillows and linens were wonderful and the room is kept very clean as is the rest of the property. The services were superb; the staff makes you feel as if it is your home and they are there to please. Each staff member does a multitude of duties and all were wonderful especially Armando, Lydia and Montania who was always ready with my morning coffee. But I actually could go on and on because all the staff were warm friendly and very accommodating. After a long day of touring it was great to have an evening glass of wine a little cheese which was complimentary or you could have a cocktail or a glass of fine tequila and relax in the main living room or sit out in the garden or terrace. We had breakfast every morning on the terrace with complimentary muffins, fruit and cold cereal and coffee. They also have a small menu where you can have eggs, bacon, french toast or pancakes. We stuck primarily with 2 fried eggs with toast everyday and they where very good and very inexpensive especially when you consider hotel prices. We also met the owners Sally and Click who are wonderful, keeping a watchful eye over all the goings on. They live in a lovely upper level apartment behind the terrace. The household cat, Buba, is a sweet as can be and just makes you feel more at home. We certainly had a wonderful weeks vacation in Guadalajara enhanced by staying at the wonderful Villa Ganz!

OMG what a fabulous long weekend I had at this tranquil full service resort-like boutique hotel. It's multiple four diamond awards are well deserved! Highly recommend!
