VILLA HIGH CORNICHE

The staff and facilities were fantastic, but non-French speakers beware, as they do not speak very good english, misunderstanigs are bound to happen! Despite being listed as a bed and breakfast, guests are essentially barred from using the amenities. The owner’s behavior was shockingly rude, and she monitored us multiple times a day. She erupted in a hysterical fit when we used the outdoor kitchen, which had all appliances provided. Apparently, cooking there was prohibited, though this was never stated on the website or during the villa tour. When she found us cooking, she stormed in and screamed that we had no respect for the property. Our sincere apologies and explanations that it was a misunderstanding fell on deaf ears. From that moment on, she wouldn’t even look at us, making us feel extremely unwelcome for the remainder of our stay. This experience severely tarnished what could have been a wonderful visit.

Very rude owner. We didn’t get the right info about using the kitchen and it resulted in the owner screaming at us during a dinner. “You don’t respect my home”, “This is why I don’t want to continue renting out”. We asked about using the kitchen and they told us that it was okay to prepare meals if we cleaned up by ourselves. If you don’t want people to cook a small meal in your outdoor kitchen then write it or prober inform about it at arrivals. You can also remove pans and pots and write a note saying “only use microwave”. The owner was in the house everyday for many hours roaming around checking that we didn’t do anything she didn’t agree with, so we felt very watched and almost unsafe. Unfortunately we also had a bathroom facing the garden connected to the owners private home resulting in us checking windows before showering or changing, as she looked inside every time she came down to check on us. It was very uncomfortable. So if you’re looking for a vacation spot where you can enjoy alone time with your family or significant other with a nice cooked meal and relaxing together, I would not really recommend this place. It’s a shame as the place and location was gorgeous and the staff were nice.

The bed is comfortable, the room is spacious, well equipped, clean and fresh. The room have also very beautiful landscape and terrace. The staff is very kind. In the mini bar there are wine, beers, water and some snacks. They are also free. The breakfast is also good.

It isn’t a place to visit if you dream about spending a vacation where you actually enjoy time in the villa. We had rented three out of the four rooms in the villa and was looking forward to a vacation where we could enjoy a relaxing time gathered as a Family away from the busy city life. We wasn’t informed about the fact that you must not cook in the kitchen, which is funny when there is both oil, pots and pans available for cooking. One evening we gathered the whole family for a homecooked meal and out of the blue the owner stormed in and started shouting that we where disrespectful because whe cooked in the kitchen. We tried takling to her and said that it might be a misunderstanding, but she wouldn’t listen and kept on yelling that we where disrespectful and so on. Even when we apologized she just turned her back and walked away. The whole situation was out of proportions and very unpleasent and unsave. We spent the rest og the holiday tip toing around in the villa because we where afraid of another extreme outburst from the owner. The owner didn’t even apologize or wish us farewell and safe travles as she did with all the other couples who had stayed in the villa. Overall I will not recomend staying in this villa.

This place was amazing! Every single detail has been well thought out! We have traveled all over the world and this place was the cleanest property I’ve ever stayed in! I mean not a speck of dust anywhere! The grounds are impeccably manicured and the service is of the highest quality! I would definitely recommend this place! The balcony and view is also quite nice, it just happened to be too cold for us to really enjoy it! Breakfast is adequate and the bottle of wine and beer in the fridge was also a nice touch! My only suggestion would be to have a few more things regarding literature or recommendations written in English! We were totally okay but other people may have problems! The location was perfect to make day trips! Thanks so much for a great stay in the Alsace region! Hope to be back one day!

We stayed for 2 nights at the Villa and the place is just amazing! Amazing decoration and we really got to enjoy the christmas spirit with the christmas tree and outside decorations. It was a perfect place to stay for a relaxing and romantic week-end. The room was spacious and decorated with taste and we also had a very large terrace. Anthony welcomed us late at night and was very helpful and also ensure we had lovely breakfasts in the morning. I would strongly recommend this place!

We booked two nights at the hotel without really researching. It had a good review score on Booking.com so we knew it would’ve at least okay. When we arrived we were truly amazed. The attention to detail is meticulous. For example the bathroom doesn’t just have towels, it has Missoni towels. The bedroom doesn’t just have any old chairs it has Bertoia chairs. From the size of the rooms, beautiful terrace overlooking the wine route, swimming pool, delicious breakfast - there are just too many positives to list. My only negative is that it will probably booked out for years to come and I may not be able to get another reservation. 10 out of 10.

My daughter and I spent three evenings at the Villa and could not of asked for a nicer accommodation. Our room was very large with a private terrace overlooking the swimming pool. The amenities in the room left nothing to be desired.|The manager and the owner were very gracious offering suggestions of where to dine and what to see in the area. We were thoroughly pampered during our stay!|I highly recommend La Villa Haute Corniche when in Alsace as all of the villages and wineries are very reachable from this Obernai location.
