I love it here. Well, what's not to like? The villa sits high above Obernai (though it's only a few minutes away) overlooking parts of the Alsatian valley below and framed by the beautiful Vosges mountain range. On clear days, I am told, you can see the snow-capped Swiss Alps. Beautiful Mont Saint-Odile is also within view, with its old monastery and hilltop chapels. BUT, the beauty of this house is the aesthetic, not only the terraced architecture but also the art and design within the home. It is like a museum but one that you feel comfortable living in. The owners are also owners (with their family) of Europe's largest cruise company, CroisiEurope, so they know how to do hospitality right. In fact, a former maitre d' from one of the ships works here as manager/host. He is professional, warm, personable and a good cook. Breakfast is delicious and made from local products. Hop on an electric bike to get into town and back. I've seldom felt so welcome in a place, and I know I will return. Obernai and the sites within the region are the icing on the tart (or cake, as we say). Two thumbs up for Vllla Haute Corniche!
