Villa il Poggiale

We love a lot this beautiful historical house. The rooms are clean, cozy and with a real flavour of the great history of the region and of the owners as well. The garden is large and sunny. The bathrooms are convenient with a good pressure in the tubes and the good flow of the hot water. We are coming back here for the 3rd time. The only disappointing thing is a reception service: the staff is quite rude and direct. For example, my friend was asking some questions about the room view, and the reception lady told him that this villa is not a Hilton hotel, where all rooms are the same. Then she told (why ever?) that he had a room bigger then her house. We found it very irrelevant. If the service reception managers could be more friendly and nice, this place would benefit a lot.

This was my second visit to Villa il Poggiale - the first time being with my mother 20 years ago, and we had the best time! Sadly, that was my mother's last trip outside of the U.S., and she passed away last year. So when my fiance (now husband) were choosing a place for our wedding ceremony, we wanted to be at Villa il Poggiale because my mother and I had such a great experience there. We were not disappointed! The staff were so thoughtful and respectful, and made everything absolutely perfect! Even one of our guests who is a highly regarded hotel manager was extremely impressed with the hospitality, service, and atmosphere. They catered to our every need and went above and beyond on everything for us and all of our guests at all times. Even though the villa was completely booked, there was no lack of attention. We felt as if we were their personal guests. And their prices for everything - rooms, food, and amenities - are so reasonable. The villa is perfectly situated for exploring Florence and the Chianti region, and the staff is so helpful in planning your itinerary and making reservations at wineries and restaurants. We cannot wait to go back. And the staff there is like family, especially Monica, who is very dear to us now.

Great place, close to a nice little town with all the amenities. Staff are wonderful, very helpful, and had great recommendations for restaurants and shops. Room was nice size. Only negative is that the windows did not have screens in our room, unlike other room, and the room was very warm. We would open the windows during the day but the mosquitos are HORRIBLE so we were unable to open them at night. They did offer a fan which was helpful. They also explained that the air-condition is shut off for the season.

Beautiful location and villa. Unfortunately our room was in the reception so we could hear everything happening in the hotel. The breakfast quality was bad and the spa extremely small. 30€ per person to book it which gave us a taste of cheap accommodation.

We booked for 2 nights a room Country superior. The room was old, no view and for 220€ a night we were very disappointed. No other room available they told us. |Dinner on the terrace was disappointing. The whole terrace looked dilapidated. The kitchen was supposed to be Italian but it was simple international food. At the Pool no service at all.||We didn’t like our stay and felt we had spent to much money.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at Villa il Poggiale. This place has it all. The views, the food, the atmosphere and the staff. We especially enjoyed the pool just outside of the villa. It is a great size for a family and a few others to enjoy. Overall, this was a positive and welcoming experience and I recommend you to go here for your family/group vacation.

Absolutely lovely stay. 10/10. The charm and character of our room was simply exquisite. The bright yellow bathroom was my favorite—so spacious, clean, and relaxing. We enjoyed a few good soaks in the lovely tub. Just such an overall homey and cozy feeling on the entire premises. Breathtaking views from every direction. We appreciated the lovely library room for reading a book and enjoying a glass of wine during one of our rainy days there. The staff were all very attentive and personal—from the front desk, to the kitchen staff, and even the gentleman who helped us with our luggage at 3am the morning we were catching an early flight home. We will definitely book again on our next visit.

Our family celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at the Villa with 55 guests....family and friends. The villa, the atmosphere, the rooms and pool and especially the food and staff were exceptional. Monica ensured that all of our needs were attended to and was the most gracious host. Her staff is top class!
