We gave this feedback directly to the hotel before leaving, hoping it would be taken on board - but there was no apology or attempt to rectify on the hotels part.||The hotel is aesthetically lovely and well-presented, and staff were helpful in some ways - for example, carrying our luggage to and from the room and arranging taxis when asked. However, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations for €270 a night.||The main issue was how staff responded when a friend staying nearby came to our room briefly before dinner. Staff pulled one of my friends aside to question why there was a third person, then called her back to inform her that if she were to come back to our room, we would need to pay an additional charge. She had only popped in for about an hour before heading out for dinner. We were told this was “hotel policy” and even that it was “against regulations,” which felt like an extreme and uncomfortable reaction to something quite normal. The next day, we were told she shouldn’t have been let in at all. Whether or not this is a rule (which isn’t made clear when booking), the way it was handled was abrupt and rude.||From that point on, we felt watched and quite policed - which really affected the atmosphere of the whole stay. It made us feel uncomfortable in a space that should have felt relaxing. I gave this feedback at the time, but unfortunately, no one made any effort to apologise or make things right, and they maintained this was “hotel policy.” However, regardless of policy, their approach and the fact this rule isn’t clearly stated at the point of booking makes how they handled it wrong and unfair.||Other issues included:|– Quite a lot of ants in the room, including in the bed |– No blackout curtains, only shutters, which we weren’t shown how to use until we asked|– A broken shower head that only sprayed at the wall|– On a couple of occasions, the receptionist was behind the door smoking or on her phone instead of at the desk||We had just come from a hotel in Santorini where the staff genuinely went above and beyond, so the contrast here was very noticeable. Although some staff were polite and helpful in a practical sense, the overall experience didn’t feel warm or guest focused.||This could have been a completely different stay with a more understanding approach and willingness to take feedback seriously. Sadly, that wasn’t the case, and we left feeling disappointed and unwelcome - not what you expect for the price. Unfortunately I would not return and would not recommend this hotel to others.
