"Almost every visitor to Florence makes the pilgrimage to the Piazzale Michelangelo for its astonishing view of the city’s monuments. Now—hidden amid olive, fruit, and laurel trees, and with a formal garden and a heated outdoor pool—a luxury hotel shares that view. Housed in a former private residence, each of the 18 rooms is different, decorated with rich fabrics in nuanced shades of a single hue—creamy ivory to deep gold, powder to royal blue, celery to cypress green; the white-marble bathrooms are trimmed with colored marble to match the fabrics. Canopied and four-poster beds are draped in silk taffeta and covered with double-faced satin and velvet spreads and pillows. There are expansive terraces with the same breathtaking view, two restaurants, a poolside café, and a translucent honey-colored onyx bar with beaded Baccarat crystal chandeliers. In welcome counterpoint to the old-world elegance and high standards of service are twenty-first-century flashes of contemporary art, and big TVs with Internet access."

Stayed here on our honeymoon. The staff were all wonderful. Nothing was any trouble. Room was fully stocked for us. Comfortable beds, shutters on the windows, extra pillows, mini bar, TV with limited English news channels. Undisturbed by other guests. Restaurant served possibly the best food I've ever eaten. Huge wine list including some important super Tuscans first wine buffs. Free shuttle service to and from the edge of the town centre provided by the hotel. Excellent buffet breakfast each morning. We would love to return.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool lovely on a hot day. Breakfast excellent and view breathtaking but Romatica rooms a little tired, marked walls, loose toilet seat. Housekeeping inconsistent although bedding and towels spotless sometimes you get tea/coffee/milk and mini bar topped up other days not. Private events run at hotel but no warning to guests so haven't felt able to use the balcony terrace for 4 nights in a row, which has the best views of all.

Absolutely wonderful both the hotel and the restaurant! I booked this hotel for our belated honeymoon trip and my wife and I agree that this is the best place we have stayed at in many years. The service of this hotel is awesome. for example if turn down service which I didn't even know what it was until my wife explained it to me. basically a member of the staff comes to your room and prepares the bed for you before you sleep in it and then leaves you some nice candies. The hotel itself is wonderfully appointed. Those floors called Terrazzo are simply amazing. They look like marble but it's actually a different technique. Nice hard wood inside the room as well. Wonderful views on Florence from the room as well as from the rooftop of the hotel. The swimming pool looks fantastic though we were not able to try it. And then there is the food.... The breakfast has amazing ingredients and that was a treat every morning I was looking forward to. Then the hotel restaurant is five star. The dishes we had were both creative good portions and delicious. Finally the staff is awesome very friendly, eager to help. The shuttle service to Florence is nice. Very nearby you have the michelangiolo plaza from which you have even better views of Florence. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It only has 20 rooms or so which means the services they customized in attention to the customer is key. I had a great time there.

It's a 5-star hotel for a reason. Attended an outdoor wedding, definitely a top 3 ever. Every detail was exquisite. Transition to indoors when rain hit during dessert was flawless. Views of Florence from venue cannot be beat. Not to mention our dear friends son married a beautiful Italian girl.

Best hotel I've ever stayed at. Classy hotel with a great view of florence. The hotel has a stunning garden and terrace, some of the room balconies overlook that space. Note that the hotel area is serene and quiet, not suitable if you're looking for a wild time The hotel is right outside the hustle and bustle of the city centre, yet close enough to walk to the center. There is a shuttle service to the centre and back for those who do not wish to walk. It costs around 8€ to get from the hotel to the city center The room is spacious, clean, and feels very authentic. It is a 1 minute walk from the piazza Michael Angelou. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Food was nice, but a bit less than we had expected from a place like this. Location is excellent with a great garden and very quiet also. The bill was above average, so that makes you reconsider the quality of the food as well. I would say 3.5 stars.

Villa La Vedetta is beautiful and the staff is excellent. The property is older but well kept. The rooms have great space, the breakfast is excellent and the views are fantastic. The front desk staff has been so helpful with setting up shuttle service and the time I lost my key card.

Yelp
We just got back from 5 nights at the hotel. It's an interesting series of contrasts. The setting is perfect if you want to be close but not too close to the city. The building itself is lovely. One could imagine living there, and it being grand. The food is absolutely terrific, particularly for dinner. First rate. But the hotel falls short of being all that it could. The service is a bit out of sorts. The front desk isn't run like a world class hotel. Staff people don't greet you in a welcoming way, and aren't trained properly in terms of understanding what people expect service wise when paying $1000 a night for two rooms. Around the pool, you are really left to your own in terms of getting towels or a drink. It's loosely managed, as if the cat's away. That said, all the food service people were absolutely a delight. Within the rooms, the sore spots were the pillows, like lightly stuffed cardboard, and in both rooms there was a strong oder, let's just say not belonging. Overall, it was a frustrating experience. The property has SO much potential, yet fell short on many details a well travelled person would expect at the higher end of the market. Would we stay again, I'd say we would look at other options that offer the same opportunity to be close but not too close to a very special city. With more management oversight, and a deep assessment of service, this place could otherwise be the place to stay.
