We loved this hotel. Room was spacious and beautiful. The bathroom was large -- plenty of space for me to keep my suitcase opened up. The staff was absolutely fantastic. So helpful. Made dinner reservations for every night. We chose Bayeux as our home base for our 3 days visiting the Normandy D-Day beaches and area. Convenient to the beaches, American cemetery, and various memorials/museums, as well as the bucolic countryside. Not to mention how charming the town is. We chose Villa Lara because it is the hotel used by True Trips -- a tour company we have used several times in Italy and Greece. It exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend.

This hotel was absolutely wonderful. We stayed at the Villa Lara portion. The lobby is quaint and homelike and the staff there was always kind and considerate and helpful. They got to know us in just a couple days and made every restaurant reservation for us. Just off the lobby is a small bar that is well stocked and managed by the front desk. Seating there is comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful and excellent. As for the rooms … we could not believe how spacious, comfortable, quiet and pleasant in terms of temperature they were. The beds were also excellent and the bathrooms spacious. We were totally blown away by the quality. To top it all off, the location is perfect. Just a few blocks from the city center, and as a result many restaurants. We never had to walk more than 10 minutes any evening for our dinner reservations. And, even the Bayeux Tapestry is just a few minute walk. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about his hotel in any way. If you are visiting Bayeux, stay here.

we very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Lara! The staff were very helpful in our check in ensuring we had a good parking spot. The rooms are big, bright & charming. We enjoyed the bar nibbles with our champagne in the quiet gardens for sunset. |Thankyou for a wonderful stay

The hotel was recommended by a friend. After checking reviews we booked 4 nights. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Everything about the hotel was 5 star. It was small and staff extremely attentive. Serves a delicious breakfast buffet daily. Room was nice size and well decorated. Try to book a room facing the church in the distance. Downstairs staff answered any questions. Best of all in is right in town so you don’t need a car or taxi to go into town or to eat at dozens of restaurants.

A spectacular property. We had a regular suite but when we arrived they told us we were upgraded to the presidential suite, at no extra charge. It was a truly impressive set of rooms. I won't write any more because I doubt too many readers will be staying it...suffice to say if you end up in that suite you won't be disappointed.||The property is in a perfect location, right next to the cathedral, downtown, and the Bayeux tapestry museum. The Tapestry is well worth seeing (go early!) but do note the museum will be closed for renovations from late 2025 through 2026 and the tapestry will actually be in London during that time.||The service was good and polite, although we didn't really ask for much. There is a small but well-maintained workout room that I used. The hotel parking is right on site and easy to get to.||Overall we had a great time and would recommend this hotel.

My family stayed for a long two days to visit Normandy and hang out in Bayeux. The staff and the property were top notch we stayed in 5 star hotels in Paris and Rome and the Villa Lara stood out from all of them. Every one of the staff were helpful with all of our needs and went above and beyond for us several times. |We would definitely go back

Excellent clean and friendly accommodations in the middle of Bayeux, just steps to the Tapestry Museum, excellent bistro and breakfast places and the cathedral. Convenient location for access to Omaha and Utah beach as well as Mont St. Michel. Would highly recommend this hotel

My daughter and I stayed here for two nights. The experience was exceptional. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. We ad an issue with the bathtub and the front desk person took care of it herself. The room was clean and spacious. The location is great. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Yelp
A beautifully appointed Building dripping with French charm and sophistication. We stayed for 4 nights while visiting Normandy in late April. Our room on the first floor had a view to the magnificent cathedral and was furnished with tasteful French flourishes. The bathroom was nice sized and fairly updated with a separate tub and rain shower and our king bed was comfortable as were the pillows. But as nice as the hotel and hotel bar were, the first impression was of the amazing caring staff. Quentin -the all-purpose player not only helped with luggage and the car but served us drinks before dinner in the bar and even mixed up a batch of savory olives with special sauce that were provided with bar snacks. He was so personable and friendly that you couldn't help but feel right at home. Kim at the front desk was also a standout in the way she efficiently welcomed us and provided directions and help with dining reservations throughout the stay. We felt well taken care of and enjoyed the four night stay in our spacious room with big windows looking out to the cathedral that we could open up wide while basking in the afternoon sun. Breakfast was great (23€/day each -not included in room rate) but again the cheery English speaking staff got you hot drinks and freshly made eggs to supplement the lavish spread of meat, cheese, bread and fruit. They kept table tidy and things moved right along. This place is popular with Americans with virtually all the guests in their 60's and up. It's a pricey place so I guess that's to be expected. Highly recommended

Yelp
I stayed at Villa Lara a few years ago and thought it was probably the best hotel in town. With that being said, I was in town last month and I was surprised to see the hotel closed. I don't know if it was due to Covid or the season or something else. All I can say is that there was a notice on the door saying they were closed and not providing additional details. I hope it reopens because it's a great hotel.

Yelp
The most beautiful and amazing experience.Villa Lara is a stunning hotel with amazing and generous staff. The hotel itself is in a perfect location in Bayeux hidden across from the Cathedral. We stayed in the villas. Our villa was stunningly beautiful, quiet and comfortable for our family of four. The kitchen was stocked with coffee, tea, sodas and waters. Each room was decorated to perfection while making you feel completely at home. The staff were attentive and so friendly. They made reservations for us at wonderful restaurants, set us up with a great guide to tour Normandy and helped us navigate Covid testing and accessing our results. I recommend an after aperitif on the front patio with a perfect view of the Cathedral or an evening nightcap in the hotel library. My entire family was so sad to leave. We hope to return one day soon!

Yelp
Aside from the beautiful surroundings, and proximity to everything Bayeux has to offer, what stood out most during our recent three night stay, September 12, 13, and 14, was the exceptional assistance, concern and empathy shown by everyone on staff. My wife has many dietary allergies and restrictions, and after suffering a meal at a well-renowned, but less than caring restaurant, the hotel staff was very concerned, and apologetic for something certainly beyond their control. They went out of their way to book our last night's dinner at an equally well-renowned restaurant which was aware of my wife's restrictions, was caring, and provided a meal which met all the culinary expectations of France without ingredients which would be harmful to my wife. We spoke with the hotel owner about her wonderful staff, and if and when we have the opportunity to return, our first choice will be Hotel Villa Lara.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience for a 3 night stay at Villa Lara. Nicely appointed rooms, ours with a great Cathedral view, terrific breakfasts and warm and welcoming staff. Stayed here as we explored the D Day sites. Shout out to Jessica, Laura and Clarinette - went to great restaurants, Le Rapinere and Maison Blanche.

Yelp
Our family checked into Villa Lara and were immediately greeted with friendly and helpful customer service at the front desk. The concierge made reservations at wonderful restaurants and took such good care of us. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The bar and library charming, the location is perfect as well.

Yelp
A wonderful place to stay in Bayeux! It is centrally located and has its own parking. Several excellent restaurants within walking distance. We had been on the road for a week and there was a laundry-mat just around the corner though the hotel does offer service if you like. The staff is trained to the highest standard and spoke English for those of us who have not quite mastered French. The owner was often seen greeting guests. Breakfast was fresh, delicious and a great way to start a full day of touring Normandy beaches. I highly recommend this place
