I honestly can’t believe anybody would say anything bad about this hotel. I travel quite a bit throughout Europe and this is one of my favorite hotels. You definitely feel like you’re living in the past when you step in. It’s kind of a magical hotel!! The furnishings are lovely and old and the floors are absolutely stunning with some sort of inlaid tile or something. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. I would like to give a shout out to Mario the bartender —he was pleasant and funny and always asking everyone if they were doing OK. He seemed to work a lot so it was nice to have a pleasant person around checking on us. We brought my daughter and her boyfriend and they were both blown away about how nice the hotel was. It’s an extremely short walk to town and if you can’t walk that far, you probably shouldn’t be traveling through Europe.|The gym is huge, which is nice for me because I like to work out. Plenty of places to get exercise and walk along the beautiful waterfront. We didn’t eat at the hotel except for breakfast, but it was very good.|We got two balcony rooms and I would say that was so Worth the extra money. Every night we sat outside and looked at the stars and listened to the ocean crashing and again it seemed like something in a dream and magical.|And in another note, if you are American as we are— news flash!!—. We are not exactly Europe’s favorite tourists right now. I never felt any animosity at all at this hotel by the staff but one of the taxi drivers not associated with the hotel was rude to us. The employees here are all a class act. Thank you for your kindness!! I didn’t take any pictures of the resort itself just pictures with us in them so sorry for that but you can see how beautiful the view views are from these pictures. Enjoy.

We are just coming to the end of our incredible honeymoon spent in Alghero at Villa Las Tronas and the hotel has been everything we had hoped for. Every single member of staff, from housekeeping to front desk staff to restaurant staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. Additionally, there were always people maintaining the perfectly manicured gardens and flowers. The decor is so opulent and beautiful and the rooms (whilst I can only speak for our room) are a great size with comfortable beds, storage room, full length mirror, gorgeous floors and clean bathrooms with good water pressure. The rooms are cleaned every morning with a turn down service in the evening. The entire hotel from the rooms to the pool area is immaculately clean. The food in the restaurant is phenomenal, fresh and delicious. The jerusalem artichoke soup was just perfect. For breakfast you fill in a form with what you would like and it is brought to you. The coffee is great and the small sweet pastries brought to the table each morning made my day! Delicious savoury pastries and sandwiches were also brought out to us at the pool which was just wonderful and a lovely touch. I had 2 treatments in the spa, the lady who provided both treatments is exceptional at her job and the spa itself is lovely, very clean and provides great views from the heated salt-water pool. As a bonus (for me) there is also a beautiful resident cat who appreciates some attention and a small beach is immediately outside the gates of the hotel. The old town of Alghero is just a 10 minute, coastal walk. We actually settled on this hotel over others when reading the manager responses to negative reviews which we thought were so detailled (and funny) that they could only be written by someone who cares deeply about the reputation of the hotel. I'm so pleased to say that our experienced confirmed this and we would come here again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely first-class in every way. Stayed here with our family of 4 (two adults, two teenage children). The views are breathtaking - hotel is located right on the water. Location is very convenient - quite walkable (5-7 minutes) to Alghero. Service is outstanding - staff are friendly and helpful. Amenities are quite good with a gym and spa. Food is very good - breakfast was included in our rate. Overall would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Las Tronas. The hotel itself is beautiful, with amazing views and really nice indoor and outdoor pools. The pictures do not do it justice. the staff was so pleasant and helpful and really made the experience a great one. Paola, Aldo, and Ricardo especially went out of their way to make us feel welcome and helped us book a same day reservation at a Michelin star agroturismo restaurant. Overall, our stay was really memorable and we’d definitely love to come back.

I stayed at a villa this weekend, and I must say, it was an absolutely charming experience. In a world full of international hotel chains, it’s so rare to find a place that still holds onto its charm, elegance, and soul. But this hotel is truly something special. You feel the essence of the 19th century, with its rich history and unique atmosphere. The view of Alghero is simply the best, with some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. The service was top, the cuisine was delicious, and the spa, with its saltwater, was very nice. I had a wonderful time and for sure will come back again. A big thanks to the entire team.

Very Elegant hotel with amazing property. View all around are beautiful and center of town is walking distance with great restaurants. Great beach about 10 minutes by car. Staff was very friendly and formal which fits in with the hotel theme.

This place is a total disaster. It may look pretty in photos but don’t be fooled. First it’s pretty fax from the historical center much longer than the 10 minute walk they say. the lobby areas are decent but the rooms are horrible, they smell old and dirty with super soft beds and terrible linens/amenities. 5 stars this place is not! So bad that we didn’t even stay the night after being abused by the front desk staff and some really old blonde woman who wouldn’t identify herself and was screaming at us to get off her property! They wouldn’t even let us use the wi-fi to find another place to stay!!! Total scummy place. READ THE BAD REVIEWS AS THEY ARE ALL TRUE WHICH YOU KNOW BECAUSE OF THE WEIRD AND VERY VERY LONG MANAGER RESPONSES. The good reviews are probably fake! Waiting to see what BS response my review gets!!! AND like AI magic there appears now to be a chat GPT response quoting some greek or latin philosopher that has nothing to do with the fact! We didn’t stay because the place is a DUMP and there was a crazy blonde old woman who yelled at us!

Our stay at this exclusive, beautifully appointed historic hotel was wonderful. The location is amazing - just a short 10 minute walk along the waterfront to the old town of Alghero with stunning views across the mediterranean. We had a sea view room with a large balcony and although not huge, the room was elegantly decorated with beautiful pieces of furniture. |The pool area is calm and peaceful with stunning views overlooking the sea. There is also private access down some steps to the sea if you fancy a dip.|The hotel is very private with access from the road via secure gates only. It is within it's own grounds surrounded by beautiful private gardens where there are lots of areas to sit peacefully. |Staff were very accomodating and extremely friendly. Service was excellent with high staff to guest ratio. Nothing too much trouble.|On departure day a taxi was ordered for us and as we were leaving slightly before the official start time of breakfast, staff kindly arranged for us to have breakfast a little earlier which was very much appreciated. Silver service breakfast was wonderful and lots of choice. |Overall a truly memorable stay and we will certainly be returning.

Yelp
This hotel as well as Cala di Volpe in Porto Cervo are my top two in Sardinia. They are completely different in style and atmosphere, but both deserve their 5 stars and both imposing top notch. Villa las Tronas is a small hotel with some long history that dates back to 1880 when the villa "castle" like was built. Italian royalty used to stay there. When the private villa turned in to the hotel - in 1959, among first clients were Samuel Beckett, Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. There is a swimming pool and most of guests prefer to stay in that area. Their beach is very authentic and I love it a lot. They put special stairs so you get in the water safe among the rocks and have a beautiful swim. But if it's stormy - then you're not lucky to get into the water. There are a couple of sophisticated suits which I recommend. Most of the rooms overlook the sea and if you have a balcony - it's really a view. The personnel all these years are mostly the same, they are like family. We always have a late evening flight and when they are not fully booked they do everything to comfort you and either keep your room for a late checkout or transfer you to another room if yours is already booked. Very nice and sympathetic people. Breakfast is very good: buffet offers all typical selection, except for the smoked salmon and Champagne. There are few dishes in the menu that are some extra, like different kinds of omelet etc. Great appetizing super fresh croissants and swell cheese selection. Lunch and dinner are served in their restaurant too and have to mention - that it's one of the best restaurant in Alghero, may be even the very best for the cuisine, the ambient, the view. And they are very flexible - that's what I appreciate a lot: if you ask to cook something that is not on the menu or to change something in the dish, like instead of seafood pasta make a risotto, they are willing to do that. Gym is in another small building as well as SPA. Though gym is pretty tiny, it has all basic things you might need. I would change few cardios though and add some new ones. They have SPA services by appointment and there is another indoor swimming pool and sauna there. They don't do turn down service. They used to, may be even a year ago, but this year they stopped, I don't know why. I like turn down service and I think that in 5 star hotels it's essential: it's always a pleasure when you have fresh towels and cozy bed ready for you to get in. Parking inside the property and its self-parking. A splendid place to visit and come back!
