I stayed at a villa this weekend, and I must say, it was an absolutely charming experience. In a world full of international hotel chains, it’s so rare to find a place that still holds onto its charm, elegance, and soul. But this hotel is truly something special. You feel the essence of the 19th century, with its rich history and unique atmosphere. The view of Alghero is simply the best, with some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. The service was top, the cuisine was delicious, and the spa, with its saltwater, was very nice. I had a wonderful time and for sure will come back again. A big thanks to the entire team.

A solid 4 star rating. This former noble residence still has some of its former glory and the location on a rock outcrop is spectacular. However it requires a thorough renovation outside, a freshen up inside and the gardens are somewhat unkept. |The spa and work out area are very good. The access to the sea is also possible. The billiards table and room is really a master piece. |We only had breakfast which was served . |The rooms and beds had everything and we had a huge terrace which faced the ocean.

Our stay at this exclusive, beautifully appointed historic hotel was wonderful. The location is amazing - just a short 10 minute walk along the waterfront to the old town of Alghero with stunning views across the mediterranean. We had a sea view room with a large balcony and although not huge, the room was elegantly decorated with beautiful pieces of furniture. |The pool area is calm and peaceful with stunning views overlooking the sea. There is also private access down some steps to the sea if you fancy a dip.|The hotel is very private with access from the road via secure gates only. It is within it's own grounds surrounded by beautiful private gardens where there are lots of areas to sit peacefully. |Staff were very accomodating and extremely friendly. Service was excellent with high staff to guest ratio. Nothing too much trouble.|On departure day a taxi was ordered for us and as we were leaving slightly before the official start time of breakfast, staff kindly arranged for us to have breakfast a little earlier which was very much appreciated. Silver service breakfast was wonderful and lots of choice. |Overall a truly memorable stay and we will certainly be returning.

We stayed at the Villa Las Tronas from the 14 to the 21 September and had a wonderful time. We had a garden view room which was perfect for us and enjoyed excellent breakfasts, one dinner and several lunches. A nice pool area and several jettys where you can access the sea. An elegant hotel which first class staff which I thoroughly recommend.

Returned to this fantastic hotel after 20 odd years and it remains a byword for elegance and charm. Fantastic staff and lovely location. Only downside was the pool had very strong chemicals. Sea access from the gardens is really easy so wasn't a big deal for us.

We stayed for 3 nights for our honeymoon in May 2024 in a double room sea view with terrace. Ants crawled through a hole in the wall of my room and were all over my clothing inside my luggage. My husband spent an hour removing every clothing item from my luggage to shake out the ants on the terrace. The hotel was not well maintained for this to occur as the ants had crawled up a level of the building and found a hole in the wall. When we reported this, the hotel staff were not only rude but didn't do anything to make it right. The hotel staff said they would have moved our room, but the incident occurred on the day of checkout so this was pointless. They tried to blame me for eating which was strange because I wasn't eating and regardless, hotel guests are permitted to have food in their rooms. They did not offer anything more for the terrible experience with the ants. I left feeling humiliated, disappointed, and regretful of our stay. Additionally, the mattresses are extremely hard and there are no blackout curtains. The building is historical with a lot of echoes and slamming doors, so having comfortable beds and blackout curtains would be expected for the price point and 5 star rating. Overall the hotel is not worth the money and I do not recommend it . We loved the city of Alghero and saw many four star hotels in the area that would have offered a better experience at a lower price. We stayed at a few hotels during our time in Sardinia and this hotel was our only bad experience.

This hotel was paradise! Our room was overlooking the ocean and the town. We spent a lot of time at the hotel because our room was beautiful. We had a huge deck with a hot tub. Everyone working there was so accommodating and happy! |We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was amazing! This was an elegant experience! We hated to leave an Eloquent hotel with everything you wanted.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Quite, calm, clean, and very, very hospitable. Our room had a terrace (recommended) with some of the best views. The staff were great, and the spa was bliss.

Yelp
This hotel as well as Cala di Volpe in Porto Cervo are my top two in Sardinia. They are completely different in style and atmosphere, but both deserve their 5 stars and both imposing top notch. Villa las Tronas is a small hotel with some long history that dates back to 1880 when the villa "castle" like was built. Italian royalty used to stay there. When the private villa turned in to the hotel - in 1959, among first clients were Samuel Beckett, Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. There is a swimming pool and most of guests prefer to stay in that area. Their beach is very authentic and I love it a lot. They put special stairs so you get in the water safe among the rocks and have a beautiful swim. But if it's stormy - then you're not lucky to get into the water. There are a couple of sophisticated suits which I recommend. Most of the rooms overlook the sea and if you have a balcony - it's really a view. The personnel all these years are mostly the same, they are like family. We always have a late evening flight and when they are not fully booked they do everything to comfort you and either keep your room for a late checkout or transfer you to another room if yours is already booked. Very nice and sympathetic people. Breakfast is very good: buffet offers all typical selection, except for the smoked salmon and Champagne. There are few dishes in the menu that are some extra, like different kinds of omelet etc. Great appetizing super fresh croissants and swell cheese selection. Lunch and dinner are served in their restaurant too and have to mention - that it's one of the best restaurant in Alghero, may be even the very best for the cuisine, the ambient, the view. And they are very flexible - that's what I appreciate a lot: if you ask to cook something that is not on the menu or to change something in the dish, like instead of seafood pasta make a risotto, they are willing to do that. Gym is in another small building as well as SPA. Though gym is pretty tiny, it has all basic things you might need. I would change few cardios though and add some new ones. They have SPA services by appointment and there is another indoor swimming pool and sauna there. They don't do turn down service. They used to, may be even a year ago, but this year they stopped, I don't know why. I like turn down service and I think that in 5 star hotels it's essential: it's always a pleasure when you have fresh towels and cozy bed ready for you to get in. Parking inside the property and its self-parking. A splendid place to visit and come back!
