This was our 2nd visit to Villa Mahabhirom; to us it is a truly special place. The traditional Thai house villas are full of heritage and character. You feel like you’re staying in a living piece of Thai history, with the comfort of a modern luxury hotel. The staff are one of the highlights; genuinely warm, attentive, and thoughtful in every interaction. They made us feel completely welcome from start to finish. The grounds and pool area are peaceful and immaculately kept, perfect for relaxing. Breakfast was excellent, and the overall atmosphere is calm, quiet, and intimate. A couple of small things to be aware of: the hotel is close to the airport, so you may hear planes during the day or evening but we are not sensitive to those things. Also, it’s not in the Old City, so you’ll need transport to get to most attractions but the staff will assist you with anywhere you need to go. Highly recommended if you’re in Chiang Mai and looking for a peaceful, elegant escape with a deep sense of Thai culture and hospitality. We will return, again.

We visited this hotel on our honeymoon and had an excellent stay. Great service, food, and amenities. The entire hotel was reconstructed using original Thai buildings and architecture and has been modernized and revitalized into a beautiful property! 5 stars

Really unique experience in a small property full of art and antiques, and stays in refuge shed old Thai traditional homes but with all the modern amenities included. We absolutely loved it and the staff were very friendly. It's worth it to experience another side of Chiang Mai. Admittedly you will hear airplanes at the nearby airport but there's a curfew, and we heard them elsewhere also.

We spent a lot of time debating where to stay in Chiang Mai, and in the end we chose Villa Mahabhirom because of its history and the beautiful pool. It turned out to be a great choice and set the tone for how much we ended up loving Chiang Mai overall. Even before booking, the staff were incredibly kind and thoughtful in answering our questions, which immediately made us feel comfortable and excited about the stay. From the moment you arrive, the property feels calm, intentional, and truly boutique. It’s beautiful in a quiet, understated way, and the pool quickly became one of our favorite places to spend time. It’s especially picturesque and relaxing, and despite there being only four loungers, we never once had trouble getting one. Breakfast was consistently delicious, and the service throughout the stay was really exceptional, with thoughtful surprise touches that made everything feel personal. Every interaction with the staff felt warm, genuine, and caring. Our room was very comfortable, with cozy beds and plenty of space. It’s not modern in a sleek or contemporary way, but that’s part of what gives the property its charm. The old style and character feel intentional and well cared for, not dated. One thing to flag, which other reviewers mention as well, is that plane noise is definitely noticeable. It didn’t affect our sleep, but it can be a little annoying at times, especially when you’re relaxing by the pool or spending time outside. The other main downside is the location. The hotel is fairly far outside the main Old Town area (10-20min), which means relying on tuk-tuks or Grab taxis to get around. Those rides add up quickly, and it can feel tiring when you can’t easily pop out for food or wander nearby. We often wished the hotel offered an easy drop-off service into Old Town, or that we had rented a motorbike instead, which would have been more cost effective and given us more freedom. That said, we truly loved Chiang Mai and felt Villa Mahabhirom was a beautiful, peaceful place to come back to at the end of each day. If you’re looking for atmosphere, history, and a slower pace, it’s a special place to stay. Just plan transportation thoughtfully if you want to spend a lot of time in the city center.

I celebrated my birthday here and they came with lots of surprises and made my birthday weekend very special. It’s the best place I’ve ever stayed at. It is just so breathtakingly stunning and the staff were the kindest staff I’ve come across (and everyone in Thailand seems to be super kind so this says a lot). The deer was also a little cute surprise, she is beautiful! I will be back in the future, we loved our stay, thank you so much!🫶🏾 If you want a magical stay, this villa is the place!!!!

The best hotel we had in chiang mai! As a design artist and boutique lover, I can feel the owner put a lot of effort in preserving the aesthetics of Thai homes and the interiors are designed by someone who TRULY knows art. The restaurant also serves exceptional carefully-prepared Thai food(even better than the Michelin restaurants we had earlier)! This will be our go to stay in Thailand in the future
