This is one of the many masterpieces designed by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Definitely worth the visit and the guides are exceptionally good. The whole surrounding area is also quite beautiful and the forest surrounding the house is magical.

Interesting place to visit if you're interested in Aalto/Finnish architecture. Photographing inside is not allowed and the guided tour is limited to downstairs area (the house is still used for living). After the tour you can visit the outside areas by yourself or visit the gift shop. Employees are knowledgeable and keep the tour interesting. You need to reserve a tour beforehand to enter.
Outside area of the Ruukki is nice to visit. Imho not a necessary thing to have on your bucket list.

Always so uplifting. Remeber, there is no general visit hours to get inside. Only occasional guided, public tours, _sometimes_ in english. So check the website and get your before hand.
It is worth it!

Really amazing place. But we could visit only the lower floor, because the upper one is private. It is expensive. The park is so beautiful and there are many nice houses around. You need to reserve the tour in advance, we were lucky to get it the same day.
There is a lunch buffe in the restaurant close by but they finish early at 14.00 as in all finish restaurants. The place looked really nice.

Note that the tour only allows access to the base floor's common spaces (living room, dining room, kitchen). You also get to see, but not enter the library. Photos are not allowed. Probably overpriced.

Incredible Finnish architecture. Built in 1939, Villa Mairea was 30 years ahead of its time in many aspects. Guided tours available several days every week!
