"Independently-owned Villa Montaña offers all of the services of a resort while retaining the personable character of a boutique stay. Three miles of beach and 35 acres of lush greenery combine for a secluded collection of rooms and villas, spaciously scattered throughout a special slice of nature. Hacienda-style structures dot the property, whitewashed with terracotta tiling and Spanish colonial-style accents. It adds up to casual elegance with a stunning front-row view of the beach. There are a surprising amount of amenities for a boutique resort, including two pools, fishing, wind and kite surfing, scuba, complimentary beach cruiser bicycles, complimentary snorkel equipment and horseback riding on the beach. Villa Montaña Beach Resort — Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Why book? This is the sort of special stay where first-timers inevitably ask themselves: “What took me so long to come here?” Lovely, independently-owned Villa Montaña offers all of the services of a resort while retaining the personable character of a boutique stay. It somehow hits the mark for couples looking for a romantic getaway while also deftly catering to sun-and-fun-seeking families. Its cloistered charm makes it a popular destination wedding venue. Set the scene Three miles of beach and 35 acres of lush greenery combine for a secluded collection of rooms and villas, spaciously scattered throughout a special slice of nature. Hacienda-style structures dot the property, whitewashed with terracotta tiling and Spanish colonial style accents. It adds up to casual elegance with a stunning front-row view of the beach. And nothing beats that beach, even at night, when guests languish on beanbag chairs in the sand to gaze at twinkling stars. Strolling along the property and finding small surprises—a fire pit here, a hammock there, a cozy, pillowed pavilion amid the gardens—is part of the adventure. The backstory The privately-owned boutique property is set on a former sugar plantation. The rooms 36 units are made up of 12 traditional hotel rooms and 24 one, two, or three-bedroom villas. Ivory-colored walls and light-toned woods bring the sandy coastline to mind while light pastel fabrics keep the beachy reverie going. All rooms include private terraces or patios. Food and drink Chef Rafael Grau’s Eclipse is regarded as not only one of the best restaurants in the west, but one of the best on the island. It’s one of the few spots where the cuisine parallels the breathtaking beachfront location. Share a platter of Puerto Rican fritters while watching the surf or split a pizza, pulled straight out of a wood-fired oven. Indulge in the fresh catch of the day with risotto and pigeon peas or island classics such as arroz con pollo. The craft cocktail program is just as carefully curated and the resort takes pride in serving local brews. Staff is eager to orchestrate private dining experiences, from picnics on the sand to s'mores at the bonfire. The spa The spa has been closed since the onset of COVID-19, but in-room treatments are available. The neighborhood/area Locals like to say that Isabela is “less gringo” than popular Rincon. The northwestern coast is truly one of the loveliest, low-key spots found on the island. Jobos, the storied surfing beach, is just a 5-minute drive from the property. A food truck park and other quaint dining and drinking options just outside the resort make a good case for exploring town. Rafael Hernandez International Airport in Aguadilla is a 12-minute drive away. The service There are a surprising amount of amenities for a boutique resort, including two pools, fishing, wind and kite surfing, scuba, complimentary beach cruiser bicycles, complimentary snorkel equipment and horseback riding on the beach. Staff is well-versed and at-the-ready to organize any diversion requested. For families Another surprise is how a place so romantic can cater so well to families. There’s plenty to keep all ages busy, including a play area and kid-friendly watersports. Complimentary playpens are available. Accessibility All rooms except for two are ADA accessible. Anything left to mention? The resort is pet-friendly." - Kathleen Squires

3 nights was maybe too short a stay, but it’s what we had and we enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful resort and beautiful accommodation. Super clean and we found it very comfortable. The staff were all welcoming when we arrived later than expected. They offered us a cold drink and got us checked in quickly with no fuss. We absolutely loved the restaurant but if we’d have been there longer I guess it might have gotten a little expensive seeing as there are no alternative options on site. We did have a small kitchen in the apartment though, so it is possible to prepare meals yourself. |The beach and views are really great. This area feels a million miles away from the city of San Juan; the noise and people and traffic. Here it was peace and tranquility 100%!

Stayed here with our 9 month old and it was perfect! The location is beautiful, close to delicious restaurants and outdoor activities too. We were able to move between their two pools and the ocean. The staff was very friendly and answered all of our questions. We came here during their “off” season and at times it felt like my family were the only ones at the resort!- which we loved haha. Our daughter enjoyed seeing the iguanas, cats, birds, and going into the ocean every day. Can’t wait to be back!

We loved our stay. Exceeded our expectations and already checking out dates for later in the year to return. Everything is thoughtfully done here. The decor of the villas, the shared public spaces the gardens. Even the seafront restaurant is picturesque. I know they are a popular wedding venue and it doesn’t surprise me. The staff are all English speaking and very friendly but without losing their professionalism. Great service all round, all week. The beach is fantastic and a perfect spot for snorkelling, or just walking or sunbathing. I used one of the hotel bikes one day and had a little exploration around the local area and had a great morning. |Great food at Eclipse too! See you soon!

We stayed at this incredible resort for a ten day vacation before the real holidays begin and everywhere gets busy. It was immaculate, the welcome staff were excellent, remembering to mention the times of important details. Big room with a more than comfortable bed, great facilities and a cool, relaxed atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, beach and everything else on offer. Maybe should have organised a longer break, but it gives me the excuse to organise another trip late September. Our new happy place.

Has a very nice feel when you enter and it's welcoming at the same time. Quick check in process and up in the room within minutes. Not a modern hotel but understated comfort makes for a very comfortable stay here. Good light in the room and great shower. Very nice space to just take a coffee or get a little online work done. The staff were polite and friendly. Happy to help with directions and suggestions. My wife and I loved the restaurant and the food. Great all round.

Google
Villa Montana blew us away ! It was as special and unspoilt as we’d hoped and the beach was like a dream. The staff sorted out the details and showed us to our room. Everything was clean, fresh and the big bed was really comfortable. We loved the food, the evening menu’s were delicious. It all just seemed to fit perfectly and we totally destressed. What a beautiful place, thank you for looking after us so well.

Google
Beautiful property in a quiet and somewhat secluded corner near Shacks beach. Staff was friendly, the food was amazing, the villa was great. We were there for a friend's wedding and everything was gorgeous. Will definitely return for family vacations in the future.

Google
○ We had the most amazing time at Villa Montana! The beach was gorgeous and restaurant had amazing food and really great drinks. We only saw the main pool which was very nice and right off the bar at the restaurant. Everyone we interacted with was super kind and helpful, so props to the amazing staff. We ended up staying in one of the villas which was really nice, very clean and larger than we expected. We rented a car to drive to the resort from the airport in San Juan and it was an easy drive (depending on time of day / week might be some traffic but it was a beautiful drive and took about two hours). Plenty of parking throughout the resort.

Yelp
Beautiful view, attentive servers, delicious food - I would definitely return. We ordered the Pargo with arroz mamposteado and it was a 10. Apps were delicious.

Yelp
I found this property on a trusted travel site recommending properties around Puerto Rico. We decided to book it for a milestone celebration. The website looks much different than the property. It's not as fresh, clean or updated. The room had kitschy "live, laugh, love" art even though it's supposed to be artisan crafted unique things. The beach is incredible here. The biggest let down was the management. The day we checked in was a wedding and we were informed at checkin that many of the amenities as well as the restaurant would be closed to all hotel guests except the wedding. So there was no access to the pools or any food from 1 pm through the night. When you are paying $700+ a night there needs to be better setups when events take place is the full property isn't booked. We expressed our frustration with the team and it was not received well. We also tried to get room service during our stay and had to call about 10 times to try and get ahold of someone. We also were excited to ride bikes around Isabella, but you can't take the bikes off property. The property is small. I don't think the restrictions are expressed well when booking, on their website or on social media. There isn't any external communication from the team and no one really knew what was going on while on property. Honestly, money better spent at a private rental and then just coming to the beach here.

Yelp
Wouldn't recommend. too many problems for the price. PROS: -all of the staff that we interacted with spoke English and were polite. The man at the front desk was especially great! -no exhaust fan in the bathroom but this was somehow completely fine. there were zero smells that lingered in the bathroom even after someone had just used it. Odd but pretty cool -right on the beach so you could walk (between 5-25 minutes depending on what room you got) right to the beach. The beach had cabanas and chairs to use. we had to bring our own beach towels. not sure whether they even have a system for beach towels. You could watch people doing water sports so it must be a great location for that. I did hear some people say there were rocks in the water so don't go in without water shoes and be careful -eclipse restaurant was delicious. chicken was a bit dry but everything else was great. The prices aren't cheap but for a beautiful beach view while eating good food, it made sense. The staff don't check on you and it took us forever to get the bill if we weren't at the bar. It is outdoors with fans but they don't always turn on all the fans even if youre sitting in front of them -iguanas, frogs, lizards, cat on property IN BETWEEN: -housekeeping is only upon request. I don't mind this so much because I don't need housekeeping every day but found this very strange for a beach resort where people would likely be dragging in sand quite a bit. We ultimately realized they don't have enough staff to accommodate housekeeping for everyone every day. By day 3, I needed housekeeping but I am such an introvert and hate asking for things that I decided I could just wear shoes in the room and just shake the sand off the sheets myself. I don't like this situation but I'm shyer than most people so this is in between CONS: -The resort gives you wristbands to wear which have no real purpose. It wasn't the key to our room or proof of our room or anything. They didn't check when we entered/left. Some of our group who stayed at an airbnb were coming and going, without wristbands, and able to use almost all the same amenities without paying the resort prices. Not a big deal but definitely had me questioning their security since its a gated resort -When we were checking out, we were told that we had to pay an extra $100 bill from the in house eclipse restaurant for a bill that was not ours, but was somehow charged to our room. We did go to the eclipse a few times but always paid with our credit cards each time, and did not charge anything to the room. In fact, at the time the eclipse bill was accrued, we had been 15 minutes away at another restaurant on the island for lunch which we went to straight from our room. Im not sure what their protocol is for how they verify who is from what room when making charges but that was not comforting. Other resorts I have been to usually use the wristbands to confirm but ours were completely useless I guess. They eventually gave us the money back after investigating but this just adds to the security issue -NO MICROWAVE IN THE ROOM. this was the first time I had been to any resort or hotel or a place to stay in general where there was no microwave in the room. I think its pretty common knowledge that a lot of people traveling go out for dinners and lunches and end up bringing back leftovers that they would like to warm up later, especially at night time when nothing is open anymore. This is usually a big budget saver for me on my trips because my partner and I usually never finish our meals, especially if we want to try extra stuff so we always pack it and bring it back for leftover meals. But this was impossible at this place due to no microwave. At first, I was like okay no big deal, there must be a communal one somewhere we can use. We called the front desk and there was not. They suggested we call the eclipse restaurant and ask if they would let us use their microwave (I wouldn't trust a restaurant letting in outsiders to warm their food. Also, the front desk should have called the eclipse for us to solve this issue but they told us to do it). We came in a big group and some of our friends had microwaves in their rooms but not us and some of our other friends. We booked as a group so Im not sure how they determine which rooms have the microwaves or not -no beach/pool towel system. we had to bring our own from our room and they only gave you one each so if it was still wet and you didn't get housekeeping, you were going back to the beach/pool with your wet towel -no way to wash sand off your feet/shoes when leaving the beach. If you get a rental car, they tell you not to get sand in it so we had to carry water bottles to wash off our feet and shoes when getting in the car -cliff view was waste of money. back of the property, parking lots not maintained. its a view of the other resort villas, no beach view or view of the natural cliffs. frogs were really loud at night even over the AC.

Yelp
Don't stay here, that's really the take away. The room was tiny, dark & dingy shoebox, the bed looked like it was made with a pair of socks at the bottom and outside table and patio weee filthy. The front desk people have no clue what the rooms like and seemed surprised that we were unhappy. They offered us another room, slightly bigger but the shade for the deck doesn't work so now we are sitting over an hour wondering where they might put us. The hospitality is lacking from all points, no one seems to have an idea of what to do to make the guests comfortable and happy. I rarely write bad reviews, but I'm also in the hospitality biz so I just wanted to give anyone who may be contemplating this hotel a heads up. Stay somewhere else!

Yelp
Beautiful resort, went recently for an in resort wedding and stayed on the property 3 nights. It's more of a villa/condo vs apartments or hotel. Inside it is decorated beautiful with Mexican tile, very private and spacious. We stayed in builing E4 which was further away from the beach but still walkable. They have cruiser bikes available to make the transport around the property easier. We had a 1 bedroom villa that had a sofa bed that wasn't terrible to sleep in. The rooms right on the beach are even more gorgeous and have private pools in front. There is one restaurant on site,Eclipse. It's outdoors, ocean view, great semi upscale food. Everything from breakfast, lunch to dinner was fantastic. Kevin, our server was great all 3 days, he was on point. Ok so for service just letting you guys know that they run on island time. Which means, don't go hungry because island time means take your time and you will wait for your food...it's an island thing. Don't expect fast food service. There are plenty of sofas, chairs and mini cabanas by the beach to relax. The beach was mostly wavy, I'm sure it's because the resort is on the north end of the island. Also many rocks so be careful, I fell due to a wave and got scratched up. You can walk to either side of beach for more privacy since there are no other resorts around. This is a beautiful wedding destination. They worked that wedding seamlessly. 2 pools on property, 1 playground, I saw rock climbing but didn't do it. Also horse tours available $60pp. Hotel is 9 minutes from Aguadilla Airport, very convenient. That airport has few flights from Ft.L Airport so we came in at night and it was scary since there is nothing around area but both of taxi drivers knew the area and got us there safe. There are also security on hotel property that are very vigilant of who comes in and out of property. When I was leaving they even made the taxi driver open trunk of car. The city, Aguadilla is only 20 min away, we went one day to try out local food and shop. Go to the Parada Tipica, so yummy. Only complain would be that the power went out on our last day. A Transformer in the area blew up. That is beyond the resorts control but what I did not like is that they should have had back up generators for property. Only building with electricity was the front desk which Arelys was working and she handled the situation like a pro. She handed out flashlights to everyone staying on site, handled complaints, etc. She set up my transportation via taxi and made sure he picked me up early like requested. Anyways, it was pitch black on property which was scary because it's in the middle of no where. Water stopped working as well. There should at least of been a generator in each building. That would be my only complaint because the property is beautiful and service is excellent.

Yelp
I would have given this resort 5 stars had not everyone in our wedding party needed to have their rooms changed for one reason or another. It's only that the resort upgraded our accommodations that I did not give them 3 stars. The place is old and starting to show its age. Our first room had a very noisy A/C and the bed was too soft and lumpy and creaked when trying to get in and out of it. We were upgraded to a two room suite where the A/C was silent and the bed very comfortable. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic reservations needed to be made for everything, the restaurant, the pool and even the beach. All the staff speaks English and were very accommodating. It's a beautiful resort but needs some upkeep.

Yelp
A beautiful resort. Everyone hear speaks English. I was so happy. To start the place is gated and private. They take your temperature at the gate. If your name is not in the registration they don't let you in. The resort is pretty big . It has different types of villas. Some are are right near the ocean. I noticed they are all a little different. I am here with family. My villa was decorated diferent then the two other ones my cousin where staying. The place has bicycles for rent and horseback riding. It is a pet friendly place. I saw many pet owners all around. The private beach is beautiful. It is like something out of a dream. I wouldn't say it is a swimming beach because it has big smooth rocks all over. When I came the ocean was very rough so I took pictures. The resort has a cute restaurant. Reservations are advised. It has a limited capacity. The restaurant also makes pizza. I had a great time. I would defenetly be back.

Yelp
I've been coming here since 2007. Love this place! Is like a hidden jem on the island. Is secluded and peaceful with a beach and pools. I love the space throughout the property. The trees, garden... The food at the restaurant has always been good as well as it's servers.

Yelp
We stayed at this beach resort as a family over Valentines Day. What a gem and a treat. It's slightly off the main path and there is so much here that reminds me of California (do I dare say it - nostalgia. Let me be clear - no comparison, just similarities). The beach might be one of the top ten most beautiful beaches I've been to (and I've been to many). It's peaceful (some beaches in PR are crowded and have a lot of music), excellent surfing or the to paddle out, there's horseback riding and you can just get lost in a heavenly experience on a long walk. At night you can have a bonfire! The villas are simple and perfect. We were there with kids and ours was perfect. Of course Eclipse is out of this world. By far one of the top five best restaurants on the island. The food tastes fresh. Real farm to table! The service was fantastic and they did well with our wild kids for bunches and dinners. Cannot wait to return.

Yelp
Hard to give this place more than 2 stars. It is a beautiful place with great ocean views but: our waitress was nothing close to nice. She was annoyed, bored and busy in the same time, although the place was empty and she had a slight attitude. She threw at us some specials and when I realized what she was saying she was already half through. Didn't dare ask anything.. Once she brought the food we never saw her again- never asked if we need anything else, an extra plate for shells or to share the salad which we mentioned, another napkin, salt or pepper, never filled our glasses- she vanished! We got the pasta with shrimp, house salad and wagyu burger. Thick spaghetti (not in a good way!) with a bland and weird sauce Alfredo and 3 skinny shrimps- mediocre. Salad looked colorful but it was so overwhelmed with a sugary dressing, waaaay too sweet, with some watery weird feta piles. Eew. Burger was very dry and the lettuce on it was rotten- as seen in the pic. I didn't expect a fantastic dinner but this was below mediocre. Disappointing.

Yelp
I just got home after spending 4 days and 4 nights at VM. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I would give them 5 stars, but there are a few issues with VM. A) The restaurant Eclipse is not cheap. The food is great! Everything we had was delicious! We ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there! The ceviche is the best! The ahi tuna tacos are amazing! I love their coffee! But each coffee with milk was $4.50! And no refills! So I had 2 coffees and was shocked to see $9 in drinks on my bill! My husband loves their pizzas. I think the service could be a lot better! We waited for 10 minutes, usually, to be sat! There is no hostess. The wait staff seats you and waits on you. The wait staff NEVER once brought us a spoon with our coffees or teas! By this morning, I was just going up to the bar to get my own things rather than wait for them to ever come by so I could ask for something that should always be brought with your drink. They also NEVER ONCE brought a pen with our bill. We were charging it to the room ever time. Every time we had go to ask for a pen. Not big deals, but I feel the restaurant all around is lacking in service. You wait to be sat. You wait to have your order taken. You wait for the food, for your drinks, fora spoon, for the check, for a pen... Luckily, it is a beautiful view from the restaurant so you don't mind your meal taking an hour or so. But for the prices, the service should be better! B) We had a cliffside room. When we were in the room we had no phone service! No calls, no texts! That was a little frustrating. It's also quite a walk to the pool, restaurant, front desk, etc. and there's no room service! So, you're going to be walking a ways if you need or want anything! The big issue with that is that it's constantly raining there! The weather is so unpredictable! It rains on and off all day long! It must have rained at least 5-8 times a day while we were there. Sometimes for 30 seconds, or 2 minutes. But we got caught in the rain several times. The beds were very comfortable though! My husband has a bad back, so good mattresses are important to him. C) If you want to go anywhere, cabs are expensive! Rent a car! We had friends staying 8 miles away in Royal Isabela. The roads are bad and the speed limit is about 30-40 everywhere, so it took 25-30 minutes to go those 8 miles, and it cost $35-40 each time! Go online and rent a car for $20 a day! If you just want to stay in the resort then you'll enjoy staying here. I like to go around more and this place is kind of hard to get to and away from everything. I also don't want to spend $50-80 every meal. But, everyone was very helpful and friendly. The food is great! The view is great. The ocean is very rough on the beach. It's good for windsurfing and para-surfing.

Yelp
Where do I start... my husband and I are both travel nurses and when we got married during the pandemic our honeymoon got cancelled, this was a redo honeymoon and birthday trip. We checked in on Monday and we're in villa 5143, it's quite a walk from the ocean and restaurant and amenities at the resort. The zen pool was closed for maintenance so the only pool opened was the tiny one by the restaurant. We got a villa at a resort instead of a hotel room at any old place because we wanted the amenities and a kitchen so we didn't eat out for every meal. On Wednesday evening around 7pm the power went out, my hubs and I just went to bed because we wanted to get up early to surf and figured it'd be back on in the morning, it wasn't on by 10am the next morning so we went and spoke with the front desk, who mind you had air conditioning and running water and full power, apparently some of the villas have backup generators but ours didn't. They said they could move us to another villa but itll have to be around 3pm, so now 36 hrs without power, my husband and I can't flush the toilet that has pee and poop in it from 36 hrs of no running water, have no drinking water or ac and they offered us a $12 gift certificate for water at the restaurant, we had bought groceries that all went bad in the refrigerator as well. They moved us to an oceanfront 2 bed 2 bath villa, the one nice one that's pictured on the website, with a private pool. There was a hitch though, we could only stay in this one from Thursday and check out Saturday before noon and move to another villa bc this one was rebooked. We had no choice. The oceanfront villa shared a generator with the people next to us who had just checked in and the front desk did not tell them we were on a generator and that they couldn't use hot water, microwave, etc, just the basics. So the people next door kept tripping our generator. Saturday came around and we were moved back to our original villa in the very back of the resort. So every 2 days we had to move rooms. We finally checked out Monday at 11 and they basically did nothing to accommodate our horrible vacation, it was stressful and not relaxing at all, I booked this villa because of the amenities and kitchen space and close to surfing beaches, my husband and I every time we went to pick up different keys we complained and requested some sort of refund or discount for our horrendous week, not once did any manager come up and talk to us, apologize for all the hassle we went through. We got 12% our stay roughly $250, they compensated only $69 of a $200 grocery trip. Mind you we had to spend way more money than we wanted to eating out extra because none of the kitchen appliances worked Wednesday- Friday because of the power outages. The front desk just blamed it on the island outages. We paid a lot for this trip but apparently not enough to get a generator to our original villa, and no one cared, we had to just deal with it. No one cared that for 36 hours we had no drinking water and had to continue peeing and pooping in a toilet that wouldn't flush. Also there was no wifi or television that worked Wednesday-Sunday, and only at the resort restaurant could you get cellphone service. If you get stuck staying in building E4 be prepared for constant construction on the buildings around you. The living conditions we were stuck in were a major health code violation. Don't waste your money, stay at the caribe Hilton in San Juan, we stayed there Monday night before we flew out and it was the best part of our trip, getting out of villa Montana hell!

Yelp
Orlando at the front desk was a great help when it came to upgrading our room. Thank you Orlando!

Yelp
The resort is gorgeous. You feel as though you're in a Pinterest board and the photos will make your Facebook friends jealous. :) The rooms-Villa Montana is more like a condo community than a typical hotel or resort. The rooms have a very homey, second beach house feel. We stayed in a 2 bedroom villa. At first, I thought the price was high but the rooms were spacious. 2 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 2 balconies with a kitchen, living room, and washer/dryer. Everything was clean and well-maintained. I stayed with 3 friends and it was plenty of space for the 4 of us. We weren't in ocean-side rooms and we had less than a 5 minute walk to the beach. Beach-Gorgeous beach. It's very secluded so you can walk for miles without seeing someone else or seeing buildings. It's nice to see unspoiled beaches like this still exist. Note-there's no lifeguard and many parts of the beach are rocky although most of the beach is swimmable. Restaurant-When we went, there was only one restaurant open on the resort. Eclipse had great food but is on "island time" aka extremely slow. The view from this restaurant is stunning and worth the premium. Next time I go I would rent a car to also go to other local restaurants and buy groceries as well though. I've already recommended this resort to several of my friends. I would definitely stay here again. Gorgeous!

Very expensive food and the place needs updating. We were expecting a much nicer room. Felt like a bait and switch.

Yelp
The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The server William was really nice. But The time it took from when we order to the time we got our food was 1 1/2 to 2 hours "no Bueno". And I hate to say but the market steak filet mignon and my Churrasco were subpar. My father asked for a medium filet mignon and it came over cooked at $50 that shouldn't happen. I specifically asked if there Churrasco was gummy and they told me no and it was at $46 that should not happen. My mom had a panseared chicken with their Spanish rice and the rice was very salty. They exchange it for some risotto that was very al dente almost raw and also salty. Now their woodfired Margarita pizza appetizer was amazing. My sis ravioli with ricotta and spinach was amazing. My second sister's fish dinner was amazing. The thing is when you tell your server that you're unhappy they should do something to accommodate you at those prices And all he did was apologize and give me a $300 bill. Because I was on vacation mode I didn't wanna make a stink about it. I was taking my mom, dad and family out to dinner so a stink would have ruined it. The outdoor breeze setting was to die for and since we entertained each other with good conversations it worth it. Literally I paid for the view. Also there red Sangria was pretty good after pitcher everything seems a little less stressful. Lol. Thee golden hour sunsets are absolutely amazing. I would recommend for light appetizers and drinks and ambience. This is truly my honest opinion.

Yelp
This was amazing. The sunset was remarkable and the food was delightful. Best restaurant we have ever been to.

Yelp
Everything about this place is spectacular from the villas and its amazing view, to the quality of food from the Eclipse Restaurant and the friendliest and most attentive staff. There's no better place to be. Highly recommend! We are already planning our next visit.

Yelp
My wife and I celebrated our 31 st wedding anniversary dinner at Eclipse. This was one of the. Best dining experience I've ever had in Puerto Rico. The food was delicious, the service was unbelievable , the ambiance was to die for and the wine list was very satisfying. Can't wait to comeback no matter what part of this paradise island I may be we will definitely be back. Kudos to Gabriel we too great care of us and awesome recommendations. Gabriel knew his menu well and he was very attentive Great job Gabriel !!! Sincerely Chicago & New Jersey

Yelp
Here is the on line description of the Villa Montaña Beach Resort Queen Deluxe Room with Garden View: This spacious room features floor-to-ceiling glass doors to a large, private veranda or balcony and Spanish-style furniture with brightly colored accents, a tiled floor and wood furniture. 1 room, 400 feet² Balcony or Garden view, Air conditioning, Attached bathroom, Flat-screen TV, Free WiFi, Free parking. This is what we thought we were getting when we booked this room! Wrong! FALSE, advertising on their listing!! Instead we were assigned a room no bigger then 260 sq. feet, cluttered with awful furniture and an ugly ceiling fan, that resembled an outer space ship. The view was of the street and we had to ask for drinking glasses in the room, a table for the terrace and they provided no bathroom amenities. We were told glasses had to be gotten at the restaurant. When we went to the restaurant they "NO, we don't give out glasses." Fortunately the kind woman at the desk gave us several plastic glasses. There was no table on the tiny terrace and to request one. When we asked the front desk to change the room, explaining why we were disappointed, she was totally indifferent and told us that nothing was available. Although the grounds are lovely, the Eclipse Restaurant is beautiful with great views of the water and gourmet food, the rooms are awful, the pool is okay with the cabañas showing much wear and the beach is very rocky. We felt as if this place is really a condo community and they rent out select rooms to cover their other costs. I advise visitors to the island to select another place. The Villa Montaña Beach Resort is NOT worth the money. I've traveled across the USA, Europe from Paris, London, Austria, Prague etc., the islands and Canada and never have stayed in such a crowded and unpleasant room for the price I paid at the Villa Montaña! BUYERS BEWARE! Unless you rent a villa, you will get a shoe-box! To see the water be prepared to walk at least a block!

Yelp
Food: 2 Decor: 4 Service: 3 This review is for Eclipse, the restaurant. My friend and I walked in for dinner around 7:30pm Friday. We weren't too hungry, so we both opted for the daily fish special. Fish wasn't that great, and I didn't really like the chili or wasabi sauce that went with it. Service was slow, but the oceanview was very nice.

Yelp
We really enjoyed dinner & drinks @ their restaurant, Eclipse. Service, food & drinks were all fantastic. Their pizza is super good & we loved the ahi tuna plate to share. Sat at the bar the second night & had great drinks & service. Arnoldo was the bartender. Very friendly & attentive. Note: we did not stay at the resort. Just dinner & drinks.

Yelp
Villa Montana is somewhat private and the location more quiet than the surrounding hotels. The grounds are well kept and attractive at a distance. The pool next to The Eclipse restaurant/bar needs a resurface as it is pretty dismal. Most everything else is in need of some type of maintenance or upgrade. The 1 bedroom garden villa we stayed in was dated and required much maintenance. The tub finish was peeling off, the plumbing was extremely loud and the hot water was only lukewarm, always. The flooring is Terra cotta which looks nice, but on the ground floor under a family upstairs with a couple of kids....pretty loud. The furnishings were more reminiscent of a college dorm than a supposed high end resort. WiFi is available but spotty and cell phone coverage is nearly nonexistant. Great if you want to actually unplug, not so great if you need to contact the rest of your travel party who are staying in other locations. Also, linens are minimal. No extra blankets in the villa and only 2 bath towels, one hand towel and one facecloth. Really? The food at The Eclipse restaurant was really, very good and the staff is very friendly. But, be prepared to experience 'island time' as no one here moves very quickly. You will wait for everything. There are many stray dogs and cats that freely roam the property and are completely disregarded by the staff. Overall, the hotel and its amenities are adequate and probably above average for the area, but I expected more based on the ambience projected for this resort and for the price.

Yelp
Fantastic service and amazing ambiance! Special thanks to Nicole and Jeremy Perez for upgrading us to a full villa. This allowed us to freeze and preserve breast milk. I'm very satisfied with their COVID-19 protocols because we still enjoyed all the amenities at the resort. Also, the food at Eclipse restaurant was delicious for both dinner and breakfast. I totally recommend Villa Montaña.

Yelp
Villa Montana needs to better manage their property and train the people who work there. After checking in, we couldn't find our room and walked around property carrying luggage. And, they forgot to give us keys! Someone should escort guests to their rooms especially at night when the exterior lights are out. We asked for someone to change the light bulbs on exterior patio and the interior bathroom but it didn't happen. The restaurant is fabulous though. Great food and service. The pool and cabanas also great.

Yelp
Stayed for my honeymoon and We loved it. The room and bathroom are spacious and comfortable. The green areas are beautiful and well maintained. And the food at Eclipse, wow!

Lola A.

Yelp
Loved this place! Beautiful grounds. The restaurant serves great food and the staff is friendly and very attentive. Very surprised by some of the negative reviews. I stayed with family and they all loved it. All of the staff at the restaurant were great especially our waitress Delanie. The landscapers, security guards, front desk, all were friendly and hard working. Gym was small but well equipped. We stayed at a two bedroom villa. It was very clean, spacious and well decorated. The ac worked well and the grounds were immaculate. Easy walk to the restaurant and the beach was nice. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Do not be fooled by the pictures that are posted. This is not indicative of the resort. The reality is the grounds and ocean are beautiful. The accommodations are not at all. The rooms are dated and dirty. We would not even sit on the couch in our ocean front villa without laying a towel over it to create a barrier (though we questioned the cleanliness of the towels because most of them were stained in some fashion). The master in our 2 bedroom suite had a tiny tub that we wouldn't dare soak in and an outdoor shower. The shower was littered with spider webs and bird poop. Fortunately we were able to use the shower in the hall bathroom. Not much better though. Signs of rust on fixtures and curtain rods. Not a single place to hang a bath towel in our 2 bed ocean front villa. No towel hooks or anything. Kitchen was not outfitted with any dish soap for the kitchen dishes or dishwasher. Certain the dishes were put away without proper cleaning. Dishwasher was not secured to the cabinets. It literally was just wobbling in place. Cabinet doors and drawers were disheveled and hanging out of alignment. Witnessed the bartender cleaning bar glasses with a dirty rag and water at the bar side sink (without using soap). The pools are in disrepair. The finish is coming off. Never saw the pool treated with chlorine. Could not smell any signs of chlorine. Water was stagnant in it. Pumps didn't seem to be working. Pool/restaurant bathrooms are right by the pool and very frequently they put off a sewage odor that swept over the pool area. There is no poolside or ocean side service from the bar. You have to drag yourself out of your ocean side chair and walk to the bar for a drink. Same at the pool. Ordered Don Julio at the bar. Bottle was empty. Instead of getting another they poured Patron without batting an eye. At least ask me if I'd like a different tequila! The gym is this tiny room of old rusted gym equipment. The electronic gate that secures the property does not have a sensor to recognize when you are trying to leave the property. The front desk had to notice that you were sitting at the gate waiting to get out and then they would release the gate. Well they never noticed us. We literally had to call to get out every time we left. We were expecting a first class experience and it was not that at all. Certainly not a "resort" style feeling. It felt like we were staying at a 3 star hotel in a very rural town. So disappointed with our stay. Would not recommend it to anyone for this price. Better amenities at most $150/night hotels.

Yelp
We stayed one night in Villa Montana from a Sunday night to Monday in October. Overall, it was a nice relaxing, romantic time. Because we were there on a Sunday night there was almost nobody there. It felt as if we had the resort to ourselves. We showed up at the 4pm check-in time and went straight to our little villa was was nicely put together. It was a cross between rustic with a touch of modern - very nice. It wasn't the biggest room, but it was perfect for two people. It had a nice little balcony where we sat and drank coffee in the morning. The resort has 2 small pools, which were nice - nothing fancy. The restaurant, Eclipse, was nice. We had a few appetizers and bottles of wine. It nice because it's right beside the ocean and had a romantic ambiance. There were also nice chairs where 2 people could fit in and lie back and look at the stars. The beach itself isn't much for swimming. It's really beautiful though because it is mostly coral. You can do some break shell hunting there or snorkling. Overall, we had a nice time. It is also close to some other nice hang out spots for drinking and eating.

Yelp
Eclipse = S.....L......O.........W. Stayed in Isabela for a week, ate twice at Eclipse. Why twice with a 2-star review? Because we think everybody's entitled to an 'off night' and deserve a second chance. Unfortunately, they abused the privilege. The first time we arrive with no reservation and were seated 45 minutes later, no problem with that aside from a cold impersonal maitre d. Drinks and appetizers arrive in 30 minutes. Entrees arrive 45 minutes after app plates are cleared. Food was very good compared to others in the area, just painfully slow to arrive. We made reservations for the second visit, and were seated 75 minutes after the reserved time. Staff was somewhat apologetic, though we are left to wonder who wants to spend a full 3 hours of their vacation time for one meal. We are well familiar and accepting of the relaxed pace of the Caribbean, though Eclipse purports itself as a mid-to-high end spot in price and atmosphere. Their kitchen needs to get in gear and catch up.

Hi D M.

Yelp
If you want a getaway, unplug from your high end, high profile life....this is it. Nice, sexy, soothing....only came for a drink at sunset but, felt like I had found a secret passageway into a magical hideaway. If you need a spot for reflection and alignment with earth's elements....this is it. What a find.

Yelp
Villa montana is a beach resort that is hidden away in the mountains. It has limited wi-fi and basically no cell phone service, which has it's pros (quiet/relaxation away from crazy life) and cons (no contact with friends and family lost on their way to VM). The beach is relatively small and rocky in some areas. VM does provide some comfortable beach chairs, and the beach is never overcrowded with people since it is only for guests. The villas are all a little diferent. Some are multi-level villas. They are all decorated differently, depending on the owner of the villa. The older villas are closer to the beach and the newer/nicer villas are the furthest. The only con about the villas and hotel rooms is that they are dusty and some have bug (cockroaches & ants) problems. After living in PR for a year, I can understand how hard it is to get rid of those bugs though. VM just needs to have the friendly pest control visit more often. What I loved about VM is that it helped bring my friends and family closer together during my wedding weekend. My friends and family stayed here all weekend. They hosted villa house parties and hung out on the beach. I had an amazing rehearsal dinner on the beach with a bonfire plus a campfire for smores. The wedding was decorated wonderfully, the food was amazing, and everyone at VM gave us five star service for the most part. They even tried to fix my dad's broken glasses. However, as a bride I couldn't help but see a bunch of tiny flaws that my guests probably didn't notice. The only one that really bothered me was the fact that the wait staff was too eager to take our half finished drinks and to clear off the party favors from the tables. Some of my guest had to hide their fans in their purses so that they could keep it. Overall, my wedding weekend was a great. It was 1.5 years in the making and the planning process was a little painful because there were a lot of turnover with the wedding planning staff and reserveration staff. Plus, the planners are not the easiest to get in touch with or to get follow ups. They work best via phone or in person. The end result turned out great though. They are totally committed the weekend of the event. If you're looking for a quiet beachy wedding location and are willing to put in the planning effort with Villa Montana, you and your guests will not be disappointed on your wedding weekend.

Yelp
The food at the restaurant Eclipse is very very delicious, but the service is a bit slow (I think Puerto Rico in general is slow). The restaurant ambiance is awesome! We felt our room was not very nice, didn't match the pictures online and was VERY overpriced for what we actually got. We asked to be relocated, but they said the whole resort was booked. Also, we asked for a discount, but they refused... A few of our other friends in the group were displeased with their rooms as well we heard. WATCH YOUR STEP AT NIGHT! There are some paths not lit properly and I stubbed my toe pretty bad.

Yelp
I wanted to like this property however the room left much to desire. I will start with the positives. The beach was nice and quiet and we did not mind the rocks. The area is kept clean and the staff is friendly. Now the cons. The website said that there were two pools, for the three days we stayed here the biggest pool was dirty and had green in the deep end, the smaller pool for the first two days had leaves and dirty on the bottom. We stayed in a cliff side"deluxe" room. I am not sure what was deluxe about it. The shower drain does not drain fast enough to keep up with the water. We could tell that this has gone on for sometime because of the black ring around the tub. The hot water in the shower did not last long enough for one person to take a shower. The floors are swept and not vacuumed so when we checked in the floor was dirty. Be warned that the cliff side rooms do not have cell phone coverage. There should be a warning on the website telling people that you are in the flight path of the local airport. The planes are very low as they fly over and very loud. Expect at least two fly overs through the middle of the night.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in the area for sure! Love the ambience, their decor, the food, cocktails and specially THE VIEW! Also the convenience of the distance from we were staying at, just steps away if you walk through the coast...

Yelp
This hotel hosts and feeds about 10 cats in the property and cannot or will not do anything if you have an allergy or phobia.

Yelp
I went with Novio's family during a vacation in Isabela. The hotel is beautiful and so is the restaurant. It is a rustic scenario with a beachfront location just a few steps from the shore. The staff is helpful and even offered to exchange our wine when mother-in-law said it was good as opposed to fantastic. They have a variety of alcoholic beverages and draft beer, my personal favorite is the parcha mojito. We ordered fried wish with mashed roots and vegetables, the fish was freshly caught and it was delicious. Father-in-Law ordered a sausage pizza made in their very own stone oven. The place is great and it is an adventure just to get there. There is private parking. I recommend wearing mosquito repellent if you visit at night, it will help keel you comfortable from the caribbean mosquitoes.

Yelp
Nobody here cares about you. Could not have had a worse experience at a "resort." The service is terrible even by Puerto Rican standards. The sheets were not changed even when we explicitly asked them to be changed, in fact we had to wait until 10pm for the maintenance man to come change them. They didn't have enough bath towels for the resort, nor did they give us bath matts. Housekeeping didn't even sweep the room, they left huge piles of sand on the floor. I have never had to call housekeeping so many times to get them to do their job. The guy at the front desk named ANGEL could not be bothered to do his job. We would ask him a direct question and he looks through us like we are glass, not answering. We tried checking in 3 times only be told that our room wasn't ready each time, eventually we were late for the wedding we had come for because this hotel couldn't get their ducks in a row. While the grounds were pretty, the staff and management here doesn't care. Upon checkout we spent a half hour talking to the "assistant manager" explaining our problems, she took down two pages of notes, was very apologetic, and promised that the manager would be in touch shortly as she was currently unavailable. I just called them today ( a week later) the manager was never spoken to by the assistant manager, promised to return my call, didn't return my call, and Angel is still answering the phones.....spend your money elsewhere. The food was excellent.

Yelp
We recently spent 7 days in a 3 bedroom villa...due to the flight times, we had to book the room an extra day at beginning of the trip and also at the end. Would have been very nice if villa Montana could have pro-rated those 2 days.. We only spent 5 hour in the villa each of those days... Pricy @ $800.00 per night. They missed the mark on various things. 1. Coffee maker for one cup 2. Full kitchen with no stopper for sink, no kitchen towels, no hot pad, no sheet pan, a cutting board the size of a playing card, no dishwasher soap, living room seating for 2... There were 4 of us. Water pressure on the showers were a joke... Could spit faster... 3. Advertises a spa... Oops, we do not have one 4. Complimentary coffee & tea at front desk.... Just kidding... Told to call house keeping 5. Asked for extra towels... Told they were out of supplies! All the above is taken in stride in a hotel for $150.00 a night, but $800.00??? The wedding was beautiful, beach was nice and pools were small, but nice. No pool chairs by the gazebo pool... Strange. If you attend a wedding at Villa Montana, strongly suggest you stay one night and then find another accommodation. Have been to many destinations, our entire group of 8 was disappointed, unfortunate!

Yelp
Villa Montaña is this planet's best kept secret. What a relaxing and elegant atmosphere. Enjoy watching the sun set on the horizon as you're indulging with a fine glass of red wine at the restaurant on the beach.

Yelp
No No and No. Only go here if you like sitting on a beach and watching locals throw Corona bottles in the ocean. They also shut down the restaurant for weddings, which is like every night. So you have to drive 20 minutes into town to get something to eat, which isn't much. Plus the weddings blast music all night. Oh and at 4 a.m. there is a huge 727 jet plane that flies literally 300 feet above the resort. I could go on but I'll spare you the long review and tell you to save your money and go to St. John USVI or Turks and Cacaos. So so much better.

Veronica R.

Yelp
Terrible! We waited forever to get our food. We sat down at 7:00 and didn't get our first dish until 9:00. The staff were so overwhelmed and frazzled.. It wasn't a pleasant experience. We ate here 3 times and all 3 times we were so disappointed. If you aren't hungry and are just looking to sit around waiting all night with a good view this is a great place.. If you actually want to eat food and have a pleasant dining experience don't go here!

Yelp
Eh. Might be ok for a destination wedding. Our villa was dark, tatty and dated, although large. Rocky beach with rough surf is not great for kids. Nice pool, but rundown tennis courts. Overpriced with a corporate feel. You could be in any gated community in south Florida. The previous reviewer had it right. Restaurant is closed today for a wedding. We left early, in part because it was depressing. No cell phone reception.

Jim W.

Yelp
Give the place five stars for food presentation and four-four and a half for quality. Service is a bit inconsistent, one waitress slow and inattentive, another very nice but food comes out slow. So be willing to wait. Went for a wedding and it was very well done, ceremony and banquet beautifully done. Room service could be a tad more attentive. I would go back.

Dana G.

Yelp
We stayed at Villa Montana for three nights as part of our Puerto Rican honeymoon. We chose it due to its proximity to many surfing spots on the west coast of Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, our trip occurred during the same times as Hurricanes Danny and Erika. Nonetheless, we still had a good time, though it was mostly attributed to time spent in the area outside of the hotel. The check-in process in the beautiful, "antique-boutique" lobby was smooth. We booked a pre-paid, discounted rate for the Superior Room with Garden View. During the booking process, the website would not let me complete my reservation so I called to complete the booking over the phone. I mentioned to the agent that I would be on my honeymoon and asked her advice on which room type to pick. She recommended the Superior Room over the Deluxe Cliffside Room as it was "close to the beach" (it wasn't). Not to mention, the Suite was an extra $100/night that I was unwilling to spend. Anyways, the property was an odd mix of pro's and con's. PROS - WiFi access was perfect, as it seemed each room had their own router. AC worked well, and we only turned it on at night as-needed. The restaurant was beautiful and the food and cocktails were delicious (though a tad pricey). CONS - It seemed we were one of the only guests there during our stay (last week of August, 2015) which was nice, however, that meant the usual lounge chairs, pool cabanas, etc. weren't set up. This also could have been due to the hurricanes. The complimentary bike rentals weren't available when we wanted to use them. They didn't mention, recognize, or celebrate our honeymoon once. For being there three nights, with virtually no other guests they had many opportunities to either upgrade our room, drop off champagne, comp our meal, but we received zero special treatment which was a letdown. The sleeping rooms were very outdated compared to the fresh look of the restaurant and the front desk lobby. It is likely one of the nicer hotels in the area but I have no plans to return.

Yelp
I had two 1 night stays at VM due to some hotel reshuffling during a business trip in the area at the summer holiday peak when my primary hotel could not extend my stay. Being at the upper end of the local accommodation price range, VM was one of the few places to have any open rooms. The first night I arrived in a thunderstorm after dark and found myself in a "guest bedroom" of one of the larger units. It is like a suite at a normal hotel where it can have a door opened up between two units to create a larger unit, but in this case the main unit was a full villa with a living room and kitchen. Mine was big for a guest bedroom but small for a hotel. Nice enough for a one night stay with a departure early the next morning, but it could be disappointing if you had booked it for a week. The second stay a couple of nights later was in a different part of the resort and was wonderful. The suite was larger than my first house and had a balcony and a view of the pasture for the nearby riding stable. This time I arrived early and left late enough to make use of the beach, first for a long walk along the sand and then for a lounge under an umbrella on a very comfortable chair. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the restaurant was OK (excellent the first night, a little less so the second night but in their defense I will say that they were mobbed with people who all arrived at once that time), and the continental breakfast overlooking the beach was a great way to start my last day on the island. As others have stated, cell phone and wi-fi service are minimal. I did find one seat in the bar where I had enough of a signal to check my e-mail, but anywhere else the best option was simply to disconnect.

Teresa E.

Yelp
We did not stay at Villa Montana we did eat at the eclipse restaurant. The service lacked attention to detail. The waitress got three orders incorrect. She keep saying she felt bad and ask what she could do. She gave us each 10% off our orders which did not make any sense the other individuals had nothing wrong with there orders. I would have been nice for a manager to come over - nothing.

Maxim A.

Yelp
Review is for the restaurant, Eclipse. This was easily the best food in Isabella vicinity, by a long shot. Haute cusine dishes, reasonable prices, would hold its own against plenty of New York restaurants. Had breakfast and dinner there and tremendously enjoyed both.

Sandra D.

Yelp
Restaurant is pricey but the pizza is delicious. Location is beautiful. Great service and food. If you have guests you want to treat to lunch or dinner, this is the place.
