Villa Nicola is an absolute treasure! It is a superbly kept and presented house that exudes nineteenth century charm and mystique. From the moment Werner opened the door to us, it was obvious that running this beautiful old villa is a labour of love for him, and that radiated out into every part of our stay. Our room was thoughtfully and tastefully decorated (with an Eames chair, no less!) and it made for a wonderful stay in Amsterdam.
Breakfast was superb - the widest choice we have ever been offered in a B&B - with lots of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses (you’ll love the cheeses) as well as the more traditional toast, croissants, pastries, eggs, yoghurts and cereals. Along with the tea and coffee making facilities, we found lovely displays of fresh flowers, plus mini stroopwaffels and chocolates left in our room. The bathroom was fresh and modern and the whole ambience was one of old world charm fused with modern luxury, which may sound clichéd but Werner has a background in fashion and it shows!
Factor in the friendliest dog in the Netherlands and you have a recipe for the most charming and inspiring stay you could possibly wish for. And that’s why we do not recommend you stay at the Villa Nicola - because we love it so much, we want to keep it for ourselves!
