On the advice of fellow Yelper, "Mon D.", I stopped in for lunch today, while on my way down to Westchester. Villa Nigrelli is an easy right onto the Carpenter Rd exit northbound on the Taconic Pkwy, followed by a very quick left into their parking lot. I could tell, based on how the restaurant looked on the outside that it was going to be a memorable experience, and it was.
I chose to sit inside, although the outdoor seating area looked very inviting. My waiter, Joey, has been with the restaurant since opening day six years ago, and he was a wealth of knowledge, and very personable. Plus I grew up in Yonkers, and he lived there for a while, so we were simpatico. OK, OK. Enough with the chitchat. Bring on the food.
Started with delicious ciabatta bread, served with both butter and Popeye's girlfriend (if you don"t know, google it, or answer given below). DELICIOUS. They had Peroni on tap, which was a big plus. So many tough choices for the entree, but I went with the old standby, chicken marsala. Comes with choice of pasta or broccoli with garlic and olive oyl (hint, hint). I opted for angel hair in the same dish as the chicken, shrooms, etc. You can also get the pasta separate w marsala or marinara sauce. The chicken was fork-tender and the sauce was excellent, very light, not overwhelming. Joey says they use bone broth as the base, and let it simmer for a long time.
The decor is really excellent. White tablecloths, beautiful mural on one wall, rich woodwork, clean restrooms. Overall worthy of 5-stars. Great recommendation, Mon D.!
