Villa Paola is a gorgeous sanctuary resort, a place that invites its visitors to slow down and relish the quiet whispers of nature. The lush gardens quieten one's soul. It is set perfectly away from the hustle and bustle of the village/town where all the restaurants and shops are--easy access without the "busy, tourist' vibe. We were in a suite with a large terrace, so every morning and evening we relished in the beautiful view of the marina, aqua ocean and surrounding mountainside. The resort's staff is top notch. We'd like to particularly thank Deborah and Sara for their warmth, professionalism and help with reservations, directions, etc. The staff really does add another dimension of quality to this resort because they make you feel like you are the only people at the resort. ||The resort is very quiet, a non-spoken agreement between guests. It's such a lovely contrast to most of our hurried lives. The resort calls its visitors to slow down, quieten the spirit and refresh the soul. ||The nearby village is packed with Italian restaurants, gelato bars and shops. We opted to dive there each day, but it's about a 15-minute walk. The beach is quite a jaunt from the resort, but the walk was a treat in itself, and we loved that this beach was uncrowded and beautiful with its white sand and crystal clear turquoise water for as far as you could see. I was surprised that all Calabria's oceans that we saw lack seashells and only have speckled rocks instead; But the beaches are lovely and the weather was perfect--just hot enough to feel warm but the calm breeze left us not feeling too hot. ||We read about Villa Paola in a Conde Nest article and planned our trip to Calabria based on this article. This resort, and Tropea in general, exceeded our expectations. Really, truly, we had to perfect vacation. The beauty of the resort and the ocean and the quaint town made this our favorite vacation ever. We cannot wait to return. If you're thinking about Tropea, I cannot imagine a better place to stay than Villa Paola. It was worth every penny.
