First off, let me start off by saying that the grounds and location of Wiona were amazing and the house manager was great as well. We thoroughly enjoyed her and she was super responsive during our whole trip.
But there are a few things I'd like to point out that do not make this property a 5 star or as described in AirBnB and on their website.
1. The hot water faucets don't work in any of the sinks (I guess people don't like to use hot water to wash their hands?)
2. The downstairs shower barely had hot water and if anybody else was showering at the same time, then there was zero hot water
3. The outdoor shower didn't work
4. The grill had no gas and wouldn't start the first night (the manager did rectify the gas situation the next day but the ignitor is still broken)
5. The downstairs suite barely got wi-fi and Netflix only sometimes worked
6. We were not allowed to park in the driveway--not sure why?
7. Many of the outdoor fans and lights did not work
8. The deck and hammock look like they hadn't been cleaned in years
9. No extra bath towels anywhere in the house
10. No paper towels or extra toilet paper until we asked about some
The property's website is quite deceiving in terms of the level of "luxury" they seemingly offer. They might want to consider either fixing the things in the list or presenting a more realistic picture of what the house is (and isn't). The downstairs suite was quite disappointing, especially considering it is the "king suite."
This, pulled from the website, is definitely not an accurate description of it:
"Step inside and be greeted by a carefully and tastefully designed interior. Each bedroom is a sanctuary of comfort, boasting comfortable furnishings, plush linens, and abundant natural light. The en-suite bathrooms are a testament to modern sophistication, featuring sleek stone finishes where you can unwind and rejuvenate."
The downstairs is dark and dungeon-like with red bars over the door and window, the linens are not plush, and the bathroom is definitely not a testament to modern sophistication.
We also got the impression that the owner was seemingly put out every time we asked him a question about the house; it was as if he didn't want to be bothered.
We have an AirBnB where we live in the US and know what it takes to make guests feel comfortable and well taken care of. We also make sure we present an accurate picture of what our place is and offers.
We did enjoy our visit to Bocas and the grounds around the house are pretty spectacular...but frankly, the house left a lot to be desired.
