We had a wonderful stay at Villa Porta Maestra. The apartment is beautifully designed with a consistent, thoughtful style that blends the historic character of the walls with a modern touch. Everything feels high-quality and well thought through – from the fully equipped kitchen to the cool lighting concept and the lovely terrace (there’s even a Dyson in the bathroom). On top of that, it’s perfectly located right in the center of Hvar. Truly a perfect place to stay.

We had a time staying here on our vacation. It’s right in the center of town making it close to all the attractions. The wine and olive oil tasting at Porta Maestra shop in the town of Hvar is a true experience for all the senses. The unique ambiance of the old town, exceptionally attentive staff, and carefully selected local products make this tasting unforgettable. Every drop of wine and oil tells a story of tradition, quality, and a deep love for island heritage. Stefani made our stay exceptional we will definitely be back!

We stayed in a deluxe one-bedroom apartment. The apartment is beautifully arranged, with a modern interior, underfloor heating in the bathroom, and air conditioning in both the bedroom and the living room. A stunning terrace overlooks the main square. I have no words to describe the decor. The apartment is located right in the city center. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money. We will definitely recommend it.

My wife and I are well-traveled all around Europe and like to seek out unique places to stay. We stayed for one night and wished we could stay for another week there. We'll break the review down to three things that stood out: The apartment: Built into a Roman building, the Family Room we reserved was refreshing to see everything be so modern inside. Everything is new. Kitchen and bathrooms were clean and equipped with high-end fixtures. The Dyson hair dryer was a huge plus with my wife. Our apartment had a little library built into the old city wall which was a cool feature. While we didn't travel with kids this trip, we can easily see this accommodate multiple kids without issue. We would bring our 2 1/2 year toddler and 10 month infant there. The only drawback was that the AC units were difficult to figure out how to set up correctly, which a simple set of written instructions in the room can fix. The service: Stefani and Martha were those who greeted us at check-in and also did the wine/cheese/olive oil testing. The Meneghetti wines, along with a handful of others that we tried, were fantastic and some of the best we've had in Croatia over a week. They were also very responsive via WhatsApp and check-out was seamless all over text. The ground floor shop: Apart from the wine tasting and wine we bought, we also picked up a couple of souvenirs and a pair of earrings from my wife all made by local artisans. The basement has an old Roman mosaic artifact that you should check out. We've already made a reservation for my wife's parents to visit on their Hvar visit. We will also definitely be back!

Initially we stopped in to the Porta Maestra Gallery to view the Roman ruins in the lower level of the shop. However, we met Stefani who explained several of the wines. She helped us select a very nice wine which we enjoyed very much. We also found out that there are apartments at that location that would be perfect for a stay the next time we visit Hvar. Thank you!

Amazing Stay at Porta Maestra – Perfect for a Group Trip Porta Maestra is a beautiful apartment-style accommodation that was perfect for our guys' trip. We were three 30-year-old men and stayed in Apartment 3, located on the top floor. The layout worked great for us: two spacious bedrooms with large beds and a pullout sofa in the living room, plus two full bathrooms—plenty of space and privacy for a group. The apartment is up several flights of stairs, which was no problem for us, but it could be a challenge for older guests. That said, the views made the climb totally worth it. On one side, you can see the Spanish Fortress; on the other, the main square and the port. The balcony is small but functional—two of us sat comfortably outside, and the third just pulled up a seat at the indoor dining table with the doors wide open. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the utensils, plates, a fridge, microwave, and stovetop. The TVs were modern and even came with Netflix, which was a nice touch. The owner was friendly and responsive, though we didn’t need much during our stay. A heads-up for light sleepers: the apartment is next to an active bell tower and right above Hvar’s lively nightlife scene. It can get noisy at times, but we personally loved the energy and atmosphere. Overall: Great views, excellent amenities, ideal location—Porta Maestra was a memorable and comfortable base for our Hvar adventure.
