"The historical character of this monumental building (1853) fuses beautifully with the Dutch Design interior, where works of art add to the charming ambience. Here, you can choose from standard and themed guestrooms, with meeting rooms also available for business guests. Bites restaurant offers a friendly breakfast service, as well as drinks and snacks." - Tablet Hotels

Lovely looking hotel in a convenient location as you can walk into town. Free parking opposite side of busy road. Rooms are not great. Maybe modern for 30 years ago, but are now dated and need attention. Communal areas are nice and seemingly more recently renovated. Nice walk on the park on the grounds. Breakfast was okay. Typically Dutch continental. Brits beware, you’ll struggle if bread, cheese, yogurt and eggs are not your things. No beans here! I wouldn’t return as the room rate doesn’t warrant the standard presented.

We enjoyed staying in my old school but a lot is outdated and the hotel really needs to be refurbished. We stayed in a stuffy and dirty room (315) and the light switch was broken so we slept with the lights on. Also only three coathamgers and no drawers to put any of your clothing. To be fair they didn't charge us for that night and we were moved to a larger and better room (315). The only thing they didn't tell us that the room was €30 more per night. We dined one evening and the food was very good but the service was very poor. They let us having a drink in the other room but forgot to call us for dinner at 19.30. We sat down at 20.00 but I had to ask a few times when our first course would come (20.45!). Also paying almost €7 for a bottle of water is just bizar and outrageous. All in all a great location but they need to shape up and invest in updating the rooms, changing the carpets on the stairs to the first and second floor and think about where to put all the laundry. The few times we came on the third floor at different times a day we saw everywhere dirty towels and sheets. We understand it needs to be kept somewhere but it doesn't need to look so messy.

Historic place, wooden floors so your can hear peoples moving around in the hotel. The restaurant I highly recommend with the " local" menu. All ingredients from local, 4/6 and 9 courses, very delicious.

Handsome, quirky, interesting hotel. All was comfortable- bed included. Replacing upper (3rd floor) floor carpet and bathroom floors tad overdue but remain functional. The food is wonderful and beautifully prepared and presented. Priced appropriately given the condition of furniture. Still very comfortable. Super convenient to have beautiful meals just down the staircase or (very slow 1-2 person lift -ride). Visited in January, so outdoor access was not an option but appears to be a beautiful place outside in warmer weather. 3rd floor dormer windows could use some attention- windy nights they noisily shake although I could easily create a method to stop the wind noise using bathroom towels. Despite the high speed winds I did not go to the trouble of putting a fix-in place. Nice place.

We've been here before, and there are definitely pros and cons. We booked a "water fun" room because we loved that style room (with a big bathtub) last time. This time, the first room they put us in (103) had a bath and a sauna, but the plug in the tub didn't work so it could not be filled. They offered to move us to another room with a bath, on the 3rd floor. After trudging up there, the room was awful. No windows, small, dark, terrible bed. My partner went to the front desk and they said there was another water fun room available, number 104. Right next to the one we had left! That room had a nice bath and a steam shower. Bed was very comfortable. Another issue to point out is security. I went to the front desk and asked for an extra key to our room. They didn't even ask my name, or verify who I was. Just handed me the key. We like the location of the hotel, and if you get one of the nice water fun rooms with a working bathtub, it's good for a short getaway. The staff needs to be trained better, however.

We last visited this hotel 9 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thinking of somewhere to go for a 'winter blues' break, we decided to go back for one night. Places can change, and this place certainly has!||Before booking, I checked the latest reviews, and one which stuck in my mind was from a couple who were given a 'Romantic Room', which had no windows, only a tiny sky light in the roof the size of a shoe box. I remember thinking, "Do not give us that room!". So, guess what, upon arrival, we are given the same room! Absolutely appaling, not a patch on the room we had on our last visit. We went back to reception and told them we would not accept the room, so they tried to give us a standard room, which had a window, only marginly bigger than the room they tried to give us (what was the point in me booking a better room to be downgraded to a standard one??). We complained again and rejected the second room they offered. After a 15-minute wait, they offered us a 'family room', which was adequate. It wasn't the romantic room which we had wanted, but at least it had windows!||We ate in the restaurant, which was good, service was a little sloppy, and the waiter tried to charge us for an extra bottle of water, but all was sorted at the end of the night.||Breakfast is a joke in this hotel! You join a huge queue, with one person cooking, to get a choice of eggs, and bacon if you wish. It's like standing in a works canteen! It's definitely not worth the money!!||One of our biggest complaints about this place is that there is very little management, they hire a load of teenagers and just let them run it! I don't want to be disrespectful to the youth of today, but there is no assistance, breakfast being the classic example, is it waiter service, do you join the 'queue from hell', do you get your own coffee? Nothing at all from the staff. You have to figure it out yourself!||This stay was a disappointment. After having such a fantastic stay 9 years ago, it was a real letdown! Too many things were either unacceptable or just OK. For what this hotel costs, we won't be going back, which is a shame, but places and staff change.

Very nice, historic and boutique hotel, located in a park, near the city center. Really beautiful.
