"How did it strike you on arrival?Set on the fringes of a nature reserve, this hotel is a welcome escape from Singapore city life. The meticulously restored 1920s-era building is beautifully rustic and a refreshing break from ubiquitous skyscrapers. It smells like the forest here and the soft chirping of insects is your playlist on loop. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Mostly families, honeymooners, and those seeking a break from the rat race. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.My top-tier Luxe Sarang room was set away from the main hotel building and had its own private plunge pool (the highlight!). The style: Genteel colonial, with a giant four-poster bed and antique teak cupboards from Laos and Burma. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?A dream to sleep in. Comfy mattress, smooth sheets, very firm pillows. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?Loved the local snack selection in the mini-bar, like the salted egg yolk potato chips and nuts with Asian flavours like tom yam with kaffir lime. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.In keeping with the whole barefoot luxury vibe, the (HUGE!) bathroom was basic-looking but came with interesting luxe touches such as a wooden barrel of a bathtub. The hotel emphasizes eco-friendliness, so the lemongrass-scented products are dispensed from blue-and-white china containers. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Fast and free. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.No gym on-site, but you don't need one - there are acres of coastal trails on your doorstep! The fine-dining Tamarind Hill restaurant, run by the same company on site, is a romantic place to wine and dine. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Memorable: Staying in the midst of a green haven, with the city a short drive away if you need it. Bottom line: worth it, and why? It's a rare nature-surrounded gem in urban Singapore - no other hotel here provides such an experience." - Audrey Phoon

Lovely stay, with lovely staff, especially Jaya, who’s ever sincere and friendly, as well as Joanna who’s always sweet and accommodating. This is a quaint villa with REAL vintage furniture, so appreciate them as they are without expecting them in perfect condition. Although it’s nestled in Labrador, there is no mosquitoes or lots of bugs. Clean. Pleasant. Comfortable. Wonderful experience.

Perfect for a quiet sanctuary retreat.! Great staff! Fantastic bed! Very clean! Linking up to the Labrador Park and Tamarind Hill for the fantastic Thai food! Unique experience! Will come back again! once the pool is open! The Library can be more interesting or serve more exciting tea break set so people can enjoy this beautiful architecture and environment to really give it a 5 star experience.

Spent 3 nights here and it was overall a very pleasant and relaxing staycation away from the hustle and bustle of work and urban living. The architecture, vintage furnishings and surrounding dense greenery contributes to the resort feel that one would expect in another country in Asia. Also appreciated that the resort has a No-Child Policy so one will not encounter peace broken by either crying or running kids in the corridors or within adjacent rooms like most hotels. We stayed in the Rustic Crib that came with the spacious bathroom and large wooden bathtub. Rooms are air-conditioned while the common areas are cooled by ceiling fans. All of the staff were genuine, polite and a joy to interact with. Special shout out to Jaya who made us feel so comfortable with her welcome and hospitality the moment we first arrived. Sad to know that this will be her last week of work with the villa cos she would be a strong reason for us to return for another stay. Hardly any issues with insects and the resort is kept very clean. Though wifi connectivity is poor, it's expected within a nature reserve and it should be acceptable if one is choosing to stay here as a getaway from work and a place to relax. Loved the simple pleasures of Afternoon Tea outside our room and the daily Signature Turndown Service with very delicious dark chocolate and a small serving of red wine. The only aspect that did not fare well was the complimentary breakfast. The hot beverages and freshly-squeezed juices were excellent, but the food wasn't served hot enough and the sunny-side up and poached eggs were somewhat overcooked. But having the breakfast at the exterior seating of Tamarind Hill facing the greenery was a redeeming factor. We are glad to have chosen Villa Samadhi to celebrate our wedding anniversary and are thankful to all of the staff who made the stay a wonderful one.

It was so much more than I expected. Beautiful forest setting. You can hear birds & cicadas singing. Awesome service. They really try to and want to make your stay as comfortable as can be. Close to nature parks and 5 min walk to MRT. Food & drinks at the restaurant are sumptuous. The chef does both local and international foods well. This would be my place when I am next visiting Singapore. Great place to relax for a while.

Cannot praise the staff enough. This is a colonial style hotel that is in desperate need of updating. Needs attention everywhere, no lift so if like us you had a lot of luggage you have to lug it upstairs. Bathroom had ants but had a note warning you about them? Restaurant & breakfast is a trek up lots of steps, over a wobbly bridge & more steps. Breakfast was OK but no buffet like everywhere else, also outside in humid conditions & most of the fans not working. Swimming pool looks terrible as do the mouldy wooden chairs & two beds. Went fir a walk in the national park connected to the hotel but full of rough sleepers. Glad it was one night till we flew home. Also the TV only has 6 channels & two if those were duplicate.

The concierge made us feel welcome, introduced us to our room, and even offered us pretty nice agar agar. The room was cosy and comfortable. It was a chill environment. However, the breakfast was arguably one of the worst resort/staycay meals I’ve ever had. We were two hours away from the end time, and there was barely any food left. We asked for refills for some sides a couple of times, but to no avail. Our tea orders were not fulfilled either, and upon second reminder, one of the two orders was still missing. The selection was limited. Porridge was cold, and yogurt tasted slimy and weird. Fruit juices were not bad. We saw good reviews and heard good things about their lunch and dinner menus, so I guess it’s the breakfast that didn’t meet the mark.

A stone’s throw away from the MRT this villa nestled in a peaceful and tranquil place is really a hidden gem. If you’re looking for a place that’s peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle this is definitely the place to go. Rooms are lovely for a romantic gateway and food is great as well!! :)
