What an incredible hotel/villa! From the very entrance, the property impresses with its discreet and elegant façade. Inside, we were welcomed by a stylish and pleasant bar area. The staff received us with great care and friendliness, even offering a delicious welcome tea. Upon entering the room, I found a welcome message, which immediately made our day brighter and showed the hotel’s genuine care for its guests. The room was impeccable, featuring a huge bed, a 55-inch TV, and a selection of tea, coffee, and water. The bathroom was incredibly spacious, with a large bathtub and all the amenities we could possibly need. Breakfast was served in the room by a very kind and polite staff member—and what an exquisite breakfast it was! Fresh bread, fruits, coffee, tea, yogurt… everything was delicious and freshly prepared. In summary, this is an amazing place that I will definitely return to and highly recommend. Congratulations to the entire hotel team, and thank you for such a wonderful stay!

Absolutely, excellent hotel!! A really great experience that Starts with the concierge, Alex - make sure to introduce yourself to him. He is incredibly knowledgeable and mapped out our whole itinerary, and even changed a few things we had previously planned because they weren’t what we were really looking for - super helpful. Rooms in the hotel are very large and super comfortable, and the large bathrooms are really cool. It’s an absolutely great boutique hotel. Very well located and near all the fun things to do in Kyoto. We ended up staying at two different hotels and visiting several others where our friends were staying and unquestionably. this was the best one of all!!! |Stay Here!!

We stayed in this lovely hotel for the first time back in 2017. We came back in December 2025 and in January 2026. This hotel is a real gem. In the middle of Kyoto on a lovely street you feel looked after by the staff with care and attention. The hotel has a personal feel and this is exactly what makes it so nice! We got so many nice tips and suggestions from Alex at reception. Even though not our first time in Kyoto he made our trip extra special. Also he kindly helped us to send back a bag to Tokyo (via Yamato) which worked perfectly. The welcome is warm and kind. The breakfast (you can choose if you want it in your room or in the lounge) is really lovely and nice. We opted for breakfast in the room and every day it felt like a treat! The room is really nice and spacious (we had a bigger room around 40m2) with a big and very comfortable bed. The bathroom is wonderful with a lovely bath (big!) and shower incl. great ammenities. If you are looking for a fab hotel in Kyoto look no further. We really hope to come back again!

I had such an amazing stay at Villa Sanjo Muromachi Kyoto! From the moment I arrived, everything felt warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. The room was incredibly spacious, much larger than what you’d usually find in Japan and beautifully decorated with a calm, modern Japanese touch. The amenities provided was fantastic and made the stay super comfortable, from the quality bedding to all the small thoughtful details. The location was perfect, quiet enough to relax, yet close to shops, restaurants, and major attractions. And the best part for me was that there’s an Anytime Fitness just nearby, which made it so easy to keep up with workouts during the trip! Truly a hidden boutique gem in the heart of Kyoto. I’d 100% stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy, stylish, and memorable stay.

My stay at Villa Sanjo Muromachi KYOTO was absolutely wonderful. The room was beautiful, spacious, and exceptionally clean, with one of the best high-pressure showers I’ve had in Japan. The entire hotel was incredibly quiet and peaceful, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring Kyoto. Alex from the concierge team deserves special recognition. He was genuinely kind, gave thoughtful recommendations, and made our stay especially memorable. The hospitality across the board was fantastic, warm, attentive, and professional. Breakfast each morning was a traditional European-style meal that was a great way to start the day. The location is ideal, surrounded by plenty of activities and easy access to Kyoto’s main attractions. I would definitely recommend staying here and would happily return on my next visit to Kyoto.

We stayed four nights at the Villa Sanjo Muromachi hotel and absolutely loved it. Located close to Karasuma Oike metro it’s very convenient for Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace and the incredible Nishiki Market. We had a lovely, comfortable room on the top floor that exceeded our expectations - it was full of light, had an excellent bathroom and a great view over the rooftops below. Breakfast is very good and there is also a really cool bar to relax in and have a nice glass of wine or a cocktail.||Best of all, though, are the staff. They are all friendly, open and engaging. A particular mention to Alex for such a lovely welcome. As soon as we entered the Villa Sanjo we knew we were in for a treat! We would love to stay again on our next visit to Kyoto.

I had an amazing stay at Villa Sanjo Muromachi Kyoto. The hotel was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully maintained — a perfect retreat in the middle of the city. A special thank you to Alex, the concierge, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and accommodating throughout my stay. He went above and beyond to make everything smooth and comfortable. The bartenders were also wonderful — friendly, welcoming, and made every drink with great care. Everything about this hotel felt thoughtful and refined, from the quiet atmosphere to the impeccable service. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto who wants both comfort and hospitality at its best.

This quant hotel is in a great location within walking distance to many restaurants, bakeries, and other shops. It is walking distance to the Nishiki Market ( a flat 0.7 mile or 750 meter walk) and Karasuma Oike subway station. The staff is very helpful and friendly, ready to assist with restaurant recommendations and reservations, identifying points of interest, and providing directions. The hotel bar is very inviting and the bar staff is very knowledgeable about Japanese whiskey and other drinks. All staff is very proficient at English. Our room was clean and roomy with a large sitting area, and well-appointed in a modern Japanese style. The bath and shower are top notch and large. Great for a foot soak after long walks through Kyoto. Overall, this hotel is perfect from amenities and cleanliness, professionalism of staff, and location to access all Kyoto has to offer.
